  • The salt mines are unstable and under the lake salt-mines are more prone to instability. A reason for building a storage facility there must be to have pleasure causing both death and destruction.

  • salt + water = bubbles = soda water...problem solved

  • oil from all the trucks that went down prolly.

  • Well done! I've always been fascinated by the story of Lake Peigneur. No loss of life in such a disaster is unheard of. I'm afraid the lake residents won't be so lucky the second time around. Maybe we can schedule Jindal for a fishing trip out that way sometime soon?

  • I think it is terrible that the state of La. would take a chance that this could blow up, cave in or just result in one loss of life. I give this a 5 star but accidently hit the 1 trying to rate. You can't rate over.

  • I wish the media would air more information on this matter - The public needs to know - we never seem to follow up on these disaster.

  • I will never have Natural Gas. I can't believe big business lies. How can you relate the bubbling to something else.

  • AGL could develop storage caverns at the Henry Hub, a central pipeline distribution which also has a saltdome and in a rural location. While they have spent millions fighting those fighting to protect their lives and environment why not invest at Henry Hub? Why doesn't AGL say the truth? An explosion at Henry Hub risks the pipeline. Why risk the pipeline for 5000 people?

  • It is unbelievable that this is allowed to continue. WHy isn't the government doing anything.

  • Chicken Littles!

  • How unfortunate past disasters relating to natural gas storage isn't enough of a warning.. It's disturbing to guess what it WOULD take for state and federal agencies to wake up and put the safety of local residents and wildlife before profit.

  • you are so rightabout would will it take for the state & federal agencies to pay attention. we need to consider the water from the Aquifa they will be using never to be used again, at least the farmers water usage will eventually return to the aquifa. We need to get more people to pay attention to this & have the state vote on a water regulation bill.

  • wow--pretty creepy. I hope the company isn't allowed to do this! it's pathetic that an idea this risky could even be considered....

  • i agree with you Jerry... we too HOPE that they company is not allowed to do this too! :)

  • If I lived near this lake, I'd be nervous too.

  • I'd like to comment about the 1/29/2008 'accidental' release of natural gas because of a simple power outage. If this happened with only a power outage what would happen if a serious problem would arise. AGL assured the residents of the area that our safety is their top priority. After all, aren't 'Good Neighbors' supposed to look out for each other? With neighbors like AGL less tha 1/4 mile from me, I may as well ask Osama bin Laden to move into my spare bedroom to complete the package.

  • Facts: 2 CAVERNS the size of the former Twin Towers storing natural gas with 5000 people in the IMMEDIATE vicinity. Bubbling of this type is NOT normal please check other lakes. AGL will use the equal amount of DRINKING water of 51,000 people per day when developing new storage. 99% of oil and gas accidents result from pipeline or valve failure. WAKE UP CITIZENS11AGL IS NOT A GOOD NEIGHBOR!!!!

I live close to your facility, Your safety record leaves much to be desired, none of us here have natural gas in our homes. You fail to mention there are 5000 people in a 3 mile radius. Is the profit you're making worth the risk?? Since you are such good neighbors

help find the source of the bubbles instead of spending all that money on publicity to make yourself look good!! You're doing good work peigneur, at least you are concerned about our safety

  • I'm from near by, and remember the sound of everything being sucked down the whirlpool, when the salt cavern was breached. And that was about 20 miles from you when I heard it. It's sad to admit that, but this is an act ofgovernment, that is interested more in money, than in lives... yours. This is a classic example, of greed, not of intelligence. Good luck to you all, before an error, proves you were right.

  • How can this keep played down by both state and federal agencies? If it can't be explained than it is a potential disaster in the making.

  • outrageous!!!!!

corruption has gone on long enough.

big business must be stopped- they are messing with our right to live

    healthy and safe lives.

my entire family lives on this lake and could

    be wiped out within minutes.

    UNACCEPTABLE.

  • Very well done. I sincerely hope it gets seen and pressure is placed. Nothing in it is said about the Chicot Aquifer...it's part of this! It's our water source in south Louisiana!!!!
