The movie was not very well executed, and the whole "modern Christian prophet"-theme didn't in any way help - but the sound track really did help it along.

I love this song and Denzel did an excellent job same as all of his movies. I think some folks didn't get the message, watch it again. It's far more then religion. I thank god for keeping me focused and my strength strong through all of lifes trials and tribulations. The character was on a Journey and no matter what his beliefs are he remained determined to stay on his path. We should have such strength everyday of our lives.
Movies about faith. We all have a faith which is the thing keeping us going through a difficult time. May be from religion or not but like Denzel said in the movie "its that voice giving us the strength we can't find ourselves".
What this movie was trying to tell us is that religion is not the bad thing in this world, it is us people who make it bad. We are all so focussed of getting it all right we don't mind the ways in which we do so. I am an agnost, for me beliefs are my own and I don't bother anyone else with them. To me my beliefs are peace and respect. Don't let anyone say who or what you need to believe in, make your own choices.

What's with all the comments about religious this film was? Yes it had religious overtones,but why can't people just sit back & enjoy without having to analyse everything.

I hate it when people say this movie was over religious it is what you make it. If you think it will be preachy, it will be preachy. I loved it, because I looked past it. It doesn't have to be about god, just plain old good human morals and decency. Love and hope and such.

Sir - The idea of the movie was to demostrate the power of God working through man-kind. In this depiction it shows that even though a man is physicallt blind, that with the power of God he can; shoot a cat with an arrow, shoot a weapon against his enemies and walk 30 years without sight to his destination.
What a great moviw and it has an interesting biblical influent. Eli walked for 30 years Moses walked for 40 years both were protected. The movie works in many areas and it created a great conversation.

Se o Eli era cego, como explicar tantas cenas que um homem cego não poderia participar, como por exemplo ele não só viu, como tambem conversou e até ofereceu um pedaço de carne de gato para um ratinho esfomeado. Eu fico com a ideia do irmão que falou que todos nós temos uma missão e que Deus deu a Eli o dom da visão, para que ele cumprisse sua missão, que era reconstruir a Bibila Sagrada, a Palavra de Deus para que as pessoas que sobreviveram mantivessem a sua esperança... Deus é fiel a todos...

I hate it when people say this movie was over religious it is what you make it. If you think it will be preachy, it will be preachy. I loved it, because I looked past it. It doesn't have to be about god, just plain old good human morals and decency. Love and hope and such.

But the real truth of this story? Nobody knows it exactly. You have to dwell deep inside the mind of the writer.

@TheCopperwire lol no im actually not an atheist. that just proves it to me though, you dont have to be some kind of zealot to believe in a higher power, that you can believe in god without the corruption of humanity in a church. and yeah, i think its a story about faith and perseverance, things that the bible says god would expect from you, I liked this movie.

@TheCopperwire i find this movie both to have two strong statements. One is that this movie is very religious. The other is that religion can be destructive and controlling in a negative way when used in the wrong hands.

@thepwnd1 You are missing the point... The point was that "God" was good.. that human idea of a reason to treat people well, to come together, to work together... "Religion" was the evil in the film, it was used for control, for greed.... Just like in real life... An epic film.

It's funny how messages are sent from the beginning and we dont even acknowledge them until it's to late...was with a friend one nite and he was watching this movie..The Book Of ELI...I thought..."boring"..but this song caught my attention..so as time went by I told myself let me see what this movie is about...why did I like this song so much...It totally blow me away when I seen the meaning of this movie...great movie!!!

I love the fight scenes in this movies, the acting is good, and the screenplay is great but the story isn't the best, but Denzel Washington makes it seem great. Any other actor and it would've just seemed like some over religious crazy man.

LOVED the movie...when he started playing this song I was had - hook, line & sinker... I believe a person could easily walk their whole lives - even through a waste land as long as they keep GOD in their hearts...Thou shalt love the LORD thy GOD with ALL thy heart, ALL their soul & ALL their mind... this is about what some writer wrote and it was made into a movie - you see GOD in it - so that is what you are looking for - I see man going on in a desperate time and a man using GOD to try to gain control over weaker minds - view the movie again and think about that... weak people who are desperate will follow someone if tey can offer any hope at all - which is why people say - just give it to GOD - he will take it - but then that person has given up being responsible

Sir - The idea of the movie was to demostrate the power of God working through man-kind. In this depiction it shows that even though a man is physicallt blind, that with the power of God he can; shoot a cat with an arrow, shoot a weapon against his enemies and walk 30 years without sight to his destination.

What a great moviw and it has an interesting biblical influent. Eli walked for 30 years Moses walked for 40 years both were protected. The movie works in many areas and it created a great conversation.
