look what it says on the official asrock bsite: ATi™AGP Card (Windows® XP 64-bit / Vista™ 32-bit / Vista™ 64-bit):Under Windows® Vista™ 32-bit / Vista™ 64-bit OS, this motherboard does not support ATi™ AGP card because NVIDIA® does not provide nForce3 250 relevant driver for Windows® Vista™ OS.
* AGP texture acceleration will be disable under Windows XP 64-bit OS.
in other words ATi AGP cards dont work with windows 7 and vista with dual core processors
It looks like a pretty solid AMD-based SLI board. I would suggest Intel though at this point as their processors are cheaper, better performing per clock, are not as hot, and overclock way better. The Intel e8400 processor is easilly the most popular.
The intel-based boards are on the more expensive side though, so if you're looking to save money, AMD is the way to go and the performance shouldn't bother you that much if you're not a hardcore hardware enthusiast. 5-10% performance difference.
Yes. Although that card is PCI-E 2.0 and the mobo has a PCI-E 1.0 slot, they are backwards compatible and you shouldn't have any sort of performance decrease.
Btw thanks for vid i bought the same mobo to use my agp card with a good CPU. I took the same memory :p. The only thing i didnt like was those shitty chipset's cooler, i bought a new one on the northbridge and now it looks like an asus card :p
i cant find that mobo for sell i found this video from a forum i tried amazon already and they wouldn't let me order it where did u get it plz reply fast i dont really want any other MOBO atm
Hey, im a bit of a noob when it comes to chnaging mobo and processors etc. Did you have to reinstall xp because of the new board and processor? thanks. and what a great looking pc, im gnna get the same board.
Yes, you have to reinstall XP when swapping motherboards. There is one way around it though, and that is to purchase Shadowprotect Desktop Edition 3.0. It has a feature called HIR (Hardware Independent Restore) that allows you to backup an OS and load it to another system with a totally different hardware config. Just backup the OS, swap mobo, then restore the backup. It'll adapt.
I reloaded the OS since I didn't have Shadowprotect at the time.
It's a great board because it give you an upgrade path to PCI-E. There isn't much difference between this and the more current Nforce boards except electricity usage and feature support, such as 10 SATA slots, SLI, tri SLI, etc... The difference in performance from Nforce 3 to 4 was none, none with 4 to 5, none with 5 to 6, and none from 6 to 7, so you're not missing out on much if all you want is a good hybrid board without all the frills.
Still, I suggest looking into getting a non-hybrid. Prices on PCI-E cards are ridiculously cheap now, and finding a good motherboard shouldn't be hard. It was a great board at one time, and still is, due to the AGP vs PCI-E market, but that's passed.
Just make sure that you're not expecting to just replace the processor. The Athlon XP is is strictly a socket A/462 cpu. If you're looking for a nice increase in performance by simply swapping out your processor try upgrading to an Athlon XP 2800+ or even go with a Barton 3200. You will see a dramatic performance improvement.
Oh i know that yeah. I'm planning on doing a full revamp. X2 6400+, 8800GS (I don't game much), 2gb ddr2 800. Should be a decent system, for my needs.
O.K. cool sounds like you're on your way to a pretty decent system then. I was checking because the dude in the video kind of made it seem as if he was just replacing the processor. I don't do much gaming either, but by the looks of my computer you would think so. The 8800GS is an awesome card though.
i have the same and i want to ask what for a grafik you have pls pn me

Do you try to install 7?
Many users had problem with ATI AGP cards and dual core CPU on windows seven.
With PCIE card this problem still exist?

Thanks but i know that.
My question was different.
With PCI-e card, dual core CPU and Windows Seven this problems still exist?
MrLaGuNaRoCk 2 years ago
it should not have any problems with PCI-e cards.
You can use windwos 7, Vista, Xp on 32-bit or 64-bit with single, dual, triple or quad core without any problems:)

Thanks a lot man ;)

where did you buy the motherboard, been looking but can only find it on amazon UK

That's where I got it.

I've tried ordering it from Amazon UK (and other European sellers), but none of them allow international shipping.

Unfortunately it seems that none of the current distributors are shipping to the United States.

Hi, i have an Athlon XP 2000+ @1.67Ghz.
Would i notice much of a difference going from this, to a X2 6400+? (No Overclocking)
