Don pulling some solos! haha. After all these years, I was a fan since Tooth and Nail released, and reading Circus magazine without fail, That's all I saw of the bands, I had no car or money for concerts. This is so cool to get to see. I wonder, when Don did his solo album, late 80s, did he play guitar on it? I know John Norum joined him
you know what is even crazier is that "Breakin the Chains" appears on the motley shout at the devil demo tape. You think they sold the song to motley for a record deal with elektra?
Dude, this kicks ass! Don looks like Freddy Krueger with that shirt lol. Ironic, he would end up making a music video about Freddy (Dream Warriors) lol XD
It also sounds like "Tell the world" which is on the first Ratt ep. Thats rock-n-roll for you. Cant really blame anybody for ripping anybody off.Juan probably brought this to the band.
@RushedFatality Yeah, this riff has been recycled a number of times. Y & T's "She's Gone" uses this riff as well. There is another song that uses it though it escapes my mind at this moment.
@JCchamp316 Actually, I goofed and need to correct myself. Other people have pointed out that this riff is similar to Pantera's "Like Fire", Motley Crue's "Looks that Kill', and Ratt's "Tell the World". Those are correct. I incorrectly said this riff is similar to Y& T's "She's Gone". That is incorrect. "She's Gone" is similar to Motley Crue's "Too Young To Fall In Love". Sorry about that.
@RushedFatality Only Dokken is tune in standard and Motley Crue "Looks that Kill" is tuned like one step down among many other crucial differences in the song.
@burrhoads Yep, Juan is a great musician, as well as a great guy to boot! If you live in LA, he currently plays bass for Juan Croucier's Dirty Ratts, as well as the Hardrock All-Stars. You should check out his website for listings. He's a swell guy.
One of the best Dokken songs ever!....i use to have a very Dokkenian life and attitude....hahahhahahha....

don dokken not on rhythm/random solo guitar in the future dokken = bad...

What about you don't have to be old to be wise by Priest not AS similar but kind of close anyways.

@RushedFatality True, but Mick M. tunes his guitar down a whole step. "Tell the World" of Ratt's first EP sounds similar to this riff too.

@RushedFatality That's because Greg Leon was going to be Motley Crues guitarist until Mick Mars came to be Motley Crues favorite.

@RushedFatality Looks that Kill is by far away, though, one of Motley's best. Because they were so hard to take seriously later on
