Bill made only one mistake: he sang '7 sad years' and in my opinion that is NOT true. 1970 till 1973 were great years for Elvis. After thatit became sad. So i would say 4 sad years, but i forgive Bill for that ;)

Bill medley was a great friend of Elvis and they both were fans of each other's singing. in the middle of '77 Bill and his girlfriend (I think it was Connie Stevens) tried to get Elvis out of his hotel room to go out one night and have some fun and get away from the unhealthy environment just being couped up with the guys (by then just Joe and younger family members, he'd sacked all the others) but Elvis just couldn't bring himself to go. A real pity. That's the last time they saw him alive.

I heard the song almost 20 years ago when I was in my "Elvis-period"...(sideburns and dyed-black long hair etc) and I thought it was a beautiful song.
