I just purchased a 2007 with Premium/Sport/Winter packages, Adaptive Xenon headlights, Park Sensors, Auto 6-speed. Its a great car! I do believe it was a bit "built on the cheap", and if you bought it new, shame on you...you paid too much. Those who criticize the power; are you kidding me? This thing will roll out when punched. We paid $26K with 49K miles on the odo.
I paid 49K :( I don't like the car. It was too expensive, transmission and navigation is horrible. For some reason, mine doesn't have parking sensors, I included every package available.
I'd rather buy an Infiniti EX37... 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. You get a lot more bang for your money. Infiniti has better technology, reliability and a sportier drive. With that said, Infiniti's come from the same car company that makes the mighty GTR.

What about the BMW service plan and warranty that comes with this. My X3 came with a 6 year 100k mile warranty and dealer services included in the price.
I know you right about that .. but most people who experienced both cars, are saying that Acura RDX is more reliable and has more technology features than those on the BMW X3 .. what you think?
yeah everything u said is true but both are very different SUVs.. One is more driver focused and a better performer, also it has a bit more brand flash this would be the BMW.. The Acura on the other hand is a better value regarding featuresbut it doesn't match the BMWs styling (in my opinion) or the handling.. I think the Acura is a bigger more luxiriuos CRV but yeah I'll be honest I'm bias for BMW cuz my dad drives the 2005 BMW 530i
Ehh the BMW performs the best and has the best handling, the merc is more comforable and carries the biggest brand name.. Audi I'd in the middle of comfort over performance/handling.. It also doesn't carry much brand
What's special are the engines, the transmissions, the handling/suspension, quality, heritage, free maintanence, and the technology. Yes, there are plenty of competitors that offer better numbers but it's the way BMWs feel as an overall package...no other maker can quite capture the way they drive. This one is long in the tooth to be sure (it needs an update) but most of their line up is cutting edge. Of course taste is subjective...which is why they make different brands! :-)
Thats not a good deal! and the FX35 is a much better car I had the X3 for a year, then got the Range rover Sport and hated them both! Now I have a Lexus RX400h and it is amazing but the infiniti FX35 is just as good! Trust me and it only has a V6 so the milage isn't so bad
Drive this before you consider a Land Rover XC90 or LR2...
The LR2 is PURE CRAP...all you do is worry about tipping over...the thing has 0 handling capabilities and feels INCREDIBLY UNSAFE. The XC 90 is obviously bigger, but I drove the V8 and although it's got power...still far less stable changing lanes than X3.
The X3 is OUTSTANDING for control/feel...there are few SUVs that ride like they're on rails...THIS IS ONE OF THEM. Great vehicle...we're totally happy. Driving one sells itself.
The X3 is rubbish for a SUV. You hav no high driving position the ground clearance is appaling and it Cannot go offroad so Ican't see the point in getting this over an estate series that is the same price and so much more comfortable to drive. But if your an offroader get a Land rover Defender.
I bought my wife the X3. It cost less than the X5, has the same motor choices . The difference is 3 inches shorter than the X5. We drove from Salt Lake to Seal Beach, CA and it did great and very comfortable. I'm a happy customer.
i had the 2006 bmw x6, for the time beinging... I never had any problems. The ride and smooth and its totally 100 % comfortable for long journeys. I live in Montreal and I used to travels almost every second weekend to go visit my parents in ottawa and for the distance traveled, I felt totally comfortable. I should have stuck with the x6 instead of getting the x5. Anyways, hope this helps.
BMW are German- i honestly like their harshness on the X3 ride, personally i think cushy rides are better for execuive sedans than luxury SUVs, but that's my opinion

i really likebmw's. but on x3 and x5, the ride is somewhat harsh, if they made the ride more soft and smooth, more people would choose bmw, instead the lexus rx, because it offers about the same luxury with a smoother ride:)

My cousin had one of these while his 3-Series was being serviced and the ride is HORRIBLE. The interior isn't even that nice either, and it starts at almost 40 grand.
Standard features include air conditioning w/climate control, interior air filter, tilt/telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel w/radio controls, cruise control, 8-way power front seats, memory system, and power sunroof.
Thanks so much for your comment. I like the Infiniti SUV's as well. They're great buys.
I am not looking for an SUV. I'm going to be keeping my X3 for years and years to come. Perhaps in the mid 2010's, I will consider a small or midsize SUV, or maybe a $30,000-$35,000 convertible or compact car. Thanks for your comment, however. It's never to early to start looking at your next car. So you prefer midsize SUV's, eh? What do you think about large SUV's? (I personally LOVE the Escalade.)
I roadtested the EX35, X3, LR3, RDX, CX-7. I bought the RDX. The Beemer was too slow, didn't handle as well as RDX, and way too expensive. The RDX delivered the power, handling, and generally all round fun experience I was looking for. (Not to mention much higher reliability ratings)
260 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 6.8 seconds is enough for a lot of people, but apparently you crave a high-performance car. work your ass off for some years and buy a porsche cayenne turbo, mercedes ml63 amg, or infiniti fx50. BUT if you do want more power, consider the infiniti ex35. that tiny SUV has a ridiculous 297 horsepower. 3 more, and you'd have just as much as a navigator full-size suv! (i think the navigator has 300. the navigator is inexpensive for its class but hella weak.)
Yea I didn't know it was that fast b/c my dad has a Xterra SE 05 w/265hp and is 7.7 0-60, but the X3 its kinda ulgy to me, yea I would rather get a used Porsche Cayenne Turbo, ive benn looking at them for some time now, and you can pick up a 04 for 35k, yea if i get a bimmer which is my fav. brand id get a 335i coup, built one, and cal. payment w/BMW select and it was 540 per month, and it was a 50,000 dollar car
$35,000 for a 5-year-old Turbo?! Wow, I was expecting about $50,000! Anyway, you like BMW but you hate the X3. Interesting. I have an X3. Yea, it's not real attractive, though it has a very sporty personality. There is an X3 M coming out in mid-2010 which will get from 0 to 60mph in 5.8 seconds and have 360 horsepower (an increase of 100 horsepower). Or you can go for an Audi Q7 which has a REALLY sporty ride. I like the 335i. It gets to 60mph in 4.9 seconds, and it's pretty luxurious too.
This, truthfully, is one of the best small SAV's around...i compared it to the LR3 which is already plagued with recalls and its barely even a year old, the RDX which stands to be its closest competition, but lacks the Euro-feel especially of a BMW. And, not to mention its one of the only SAV's to offer a MANUAL TRANSMISSION! BMW delivers strong with the X3 in everyway. Audi, now will hit BMW with the Q5, but im still a strong believer of the INLINE6 engines.
I have one, and I love it. It's fast, powerful, luxury, everything. I tested 0 to 60mph in 5.8 seconds. It's also got climate controls, cruise control, iPod/MP3 player, CD player, everything. I have a navigation system and leather upholstery with mine; I bought mine for about $40,000.
I pay $589 per month for my X3. It's awfully pricey. I'm hardly affording it! My next car definitely isn't going to top $40,000. But even a little X3 is a luxurious SUV. I highly recommend it. It's got a sporty ride, even though it's not really considered a high-performance SUV (it sure as hell feels like one though).
One thing I forgot to mention - fuel economy. The X3 gets acceptable fuel economy. It's so tiny, so I was a little disappointed with its 17mpg city and 24mpg highway. I wanted at least 3mpg higher in both the city and highway. But yea. If you've got $39,000 and you don't feel embarrassed driving an SUV, then I think that you'd be stupid to not have the BMW X3 as your primary option. Of course, that's my opinion. What car do you currently own?
Currently i own a lexus GS 08', But i want to purchase an SUV(the perfect SUV),Not too pretentious, not to big, hybrid, great gas milage. Kinda tired of driving cars, wanna be in something that makes me feel....Good. This is why i'm searching SUV's on utube, but what about the X5(LOOKS ALRIGHT TO ME).
IMO, the X5 is a rip off. If you are looking in for a luxury SUV in the 45-60K range, I think you should take a serious look at the Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes M-Class. The X3 is a tad pricey but I think it's the best offering in it's size...for now... I recommend keeping an eye on the Mercedes GLK-Class because it's shaping up to be a much better alternative to the X3.
The Mercedes GLK is fairly inexpensive for its class, but I'm almost certain that the price will eventually soar up ridiculously. Anyway, here's my idea. Best compact luxury SUV - Infiniti EX35. Worst compact luxury SUV - Acura RDX. Best midsize luxury SUV - Porsche Cayenne. Worst midsize luxury SUV - Mercedes-Benz ML350 (no standard leather upholstery, less power, pitiful and pathetic fuel economy). Best large luxury SUV - Cadillac Escalade (over 400hp, sporty, lux). Worst - Mercedes GL450.

That sounds too good to me. The car might have a lot of miles on it. I went to ebay and a 2004 Porsche Cayenne Turbo was about $60k.

Yea, $35,000 for a 5-year-old Cayenne Turbo is one hell of a bargain.

Audi, now will hit BMW with the Q5, but im still a strong believer of the INLINE6 engines.

a lil bit pricey but buy this one beside of the rdx or the lr2

I have one, and I love it. It's fast, powerful, luxury, everything. I tested 0 to 60mph in 5.8 seconds. It's also got climate controls, cruise control, iPod/MP3 player, CD player, everything. I have a navigation system and leather upholstery with mine; I bought mine for about $40,000.

How much do you have to pay month, and how's fuel economy(the video spoke nothing of that)?
d3r0n 3 years ago
I pay $589 per month for my X3. It's awfully pricey. I'm hardly affording it! My next car definitely isn't going to top $40,000. But even a little X3 is a luxurious SUV. I highly recommend it. It's got a sporty ride, even though it's not really considered a high-performance SUV (it sure as hell feels like one though).

Alright thanx a lot.

What car do you currently own?
youmils03 3 years ago
Currently i own a lexus GS 08', But i want to purchase an SUV(the perfect SUV),Not too pretentious, not to big, hybrid, great gas milage. Kinda tired of driving cars, wanna be in something that makes me feel....Good. This is why i'm searching SUV's on utube, but what about the X5(LOOKS ALRIGHT TO ME).
d3r0n 3 years ago
IMO, the X5 is a rip off. If you are looking in for a luxury SUV in the 45-60K range, I think you should take a serious look at the Porsche Cayenne and the Mercedes M-Class. The X3 is a tad pricey but I think it's the best offering in it's size...for now... I recommend keeping an eye on the Mercedes GLK-Class because it's shaping up to be a much better alternative to the X3.
Gojulas895 3 years ago
The Mercedes GLK is fairly inexpensive for its class, but I'm almost certain that the price will eventually soar up ridiculously. Anyway, here's my idea. Best compact luxury SUV - Infiniti EX35. Worst compact luxury SUV - Acura RDX. Best midsize luxury SUV - Porsche Cayenne. Worst midsize luxury SUV - Mercedes-Benz ML350 (no standard leather upholstery, less power, pitiful and pathetic fuel economy). Best large luxury SUV - Cadillac Escalade (over 400hp, sporty, lux). Worst - Mercedes GL450.

the x3 is very fast,40mpg and its got a cup holder under the left front vent, right vent in usa!!! 2008 model is great
llanyboy 3 years ago
the diesel gets 40mpg (wont find many of them here in the US), the gas is EPA rated to 26mpg highway. still decent for a SUV-ish vehicle.
