  • For the first 8 years of my life. I would count to 12 in the same rhythm as this song. All I can say was that it was AWESOME!!!!! Even now as an adult, this song is jammin. Sesame Street is the best.

  • @pompeypirate I think there might be something there. Check the 9 and you'll find baseball and a dog...9 innings and a canine (K9)?. In the 7, there are pyramids and different cultures...7 continents and 7 wonders? Although some I don't get. The 12 is all Americana. The 8 is all animals. Regardless, they rock!

  • @Bardoftoday Could have been any episode with four as a number sponsor, somewhere between 1976-1989. Hope that helps. Check out muppet wiki for more info on specific episodes (first appearance, etc).

  • Musically, including incidentals..there are 12 playable tones in an octave.

    The song we hear is funk jazz which notoriously plays the gambit of notes, esspecially when there are key changes, and this song has one. Those Sesame Street people were actually pretty smart.

  • Oh my friggin gosh! We don't get Sesame Street on tv here in NZ. I'm 27 and I sing this all the time. This was my fave snippet from when i was little! My 4 year old has caught on and sings it all the time too! Amazing!
