I'm not sure which one should I get, LaCie Hard Disk Quadra (black) or LaCie D2 Quadra (silver) -- I plan to use it to install tons of samples that I will run on sequencers like Logic, as well as that it would be where the audio recordings/files go.
So could anyone give me some ideas/suggestions please?
Does anyone knows on the LaCie 2big Network 2TB model, if i create just one volume with RAID 1, if i will have the full disk size. Then i would come up with 1TB mirrorred drive , am i right ?
Hi it is me again. I wanted to ask the uploader if you prefer the lacie harddisk over the glyph harddisk? The latter has been designed for audio and video production. But since the lacie uses the oxford chipset (24 I believe) will this make the lacie just as good for the same tasks, not being backup but audio and video production,.`?
Guy, please explain this. How can you achieve +200MB/sec speeds when the specs of this product says it achieves 165MB/sec through eSATA in RAID 0, using the Lacie controller card? What am I missing? Does the total capacity of the drives factor in?
@red2082 Click the link in the more info. "burst transfer rates as high as 225MB/sec" you'll need the LaCie 4 port SATA PCIe card and a fast computer. Their web site is being conservative on the product specs.
Oh I forgot the bottom line. Being that he replaces the green color with a screen capture of his mac running the program shown. This video footage resides in a different video track than the footage of him talking. He then uses chromakey on one of them. I think you can guess which now.
It is very easy and yet still creative. He has a big green cloth on his wall. Later when he is editing the video footage he removes the color of the green cloth by using a technology called chroma key. Most video editing software support this great feature. I recommend sony vegas pro 9
Looks like a great product for my wish list. I'm also interested in a Youtube video issue. What format and parameters did you use to upload to Youtube? The video was the largest and highest quality I've seen yet on Youtube
I also find the Mixed RAID setting to be perfect for my work-flow.. But now that i've changed it to mixed, i kind of forgot what to do next in Leopard, in order for the drives/volumes to appear and work!... hmm could help me through the steps i now need to take?..
Hi Raymond, you'll want to use Apple's Disk Utility to Format the drives. Go to your Utilities Folder, open up Disk Utility, Select the Volume, Hit Erase
Thanks for watching and for your comment, I'm diggin' the studio too. After years of doing presentations in front of a projector, I always wanted to just be "in the computer!" You ashould know the difference between Mac OS & Windows and Mac-PC that comes with Mac OS. It's just dumb to say 'software for your PC'

Thanks!,.. yes that was it...alright!
Oh.. and was the Big volume RAID 1 and the small volume RAID 0?
I can't see that info stand anywhere?.
I need to know that, in order to give each one he right name.

The larger volume will be the Fast Volume and the smaller is the Safe Volume.

Hey guy,
It works!, Thanks!!
just one more question, when I do the AJA system test, I find it strange, that both my FAST and SAFE volume, are about hitting + 72 MB/s...??
It's FireWire 800, so I know around 72MB should be correct,.. but I don't see any difference between the RAID 0 & RAID 1 volumes...??
Is this normal, or do I need to do something else?

(for some clearer INFO..)_
...the LaCie 2Big Quadra, is connected unto an
iMac 24" 3.06 Ghz (latest model)
Maybe this INFO would help clarify things a bit
FilmAdventureRomance 2 years ago
@FilmAdventureRomance Ah, the drive needs to connected via a SATA card to get the fastest speed.
