The man dug this country in a financial hole that could take years to climb out of. Who in their right mind would change discrimination laws? The Congress who neglected to realize that if they were going to keep giving these loans out to companies that weren't paying them back would possibly fail are the ones to blame. The difficult thing to overcome if we're not going to blame this on this Bush presidency, is the fact that when he arrived in office there was the largest surplus in the US economic history sitting in our federal reserve. Now not only has those funds been completely exhausted, but trillions in addition to that spent on a war that apparently has no end because it has no defined achievable objectives. Lastly, as far as Reagan and Bush go, I wasn't alive during the Reagan era, but I hear nothing but good things seeing as the man was elected twice with landslides. Bush had his moments, which would agreeably be more than most presidents had, but nevertheless, not all the fingers should be pointed at him. Congress was the mastermind behind the war seeing as they had to vote for it. Things always lead back to Congress in the end; not always the President.

I can understand your anger towards "fascist, ignorant" conservatives, but we're all bigots in this world and no one is open minded to anyone else's ideas but their own. We differ because I look at tax cuts during a recession as a means to reducing debt and getting out of a decline. You, instead, believe that other methods would be of greater significance and will prove to be worthy in the end. To this juxtaposition I say, time will tell.

I voted for Obama and I'm proud of my vote. He seems like an intelligent and worthy leader. Thing is, though, a healthy amount of distrust - well, I'll be a little more gentle and call it skepticism - keeps one from getting into a blind fervor over the electee.
Now, if he does a lot of good, which I think he can, then faith is justified. However, if the skepticism is based in racism or anything like that - then, yeah, its BS.

This is after the election, so the guy who made this comment, didn't do his homework, & says himself how little he knew about Obama. It was really funny how white people in the 90's, especially republicans were saying "Oh yes, I'd vote for Powell in a heartbeat" Powell knew tha tthe republicans were too white, too conservative and too exclusive to ever put him on as presidential nominee. People could argue that it was a bad year for Republicans, but it discounts the arguement that blacks will vote based on race when a black candidate runs against a white candidate. People have tried this arguement in the 2008 election win for Obama. ohio is the bluist of the red states that Obama won and Pennsylvania is the reddist of the blue states. Maryland is just blue-this is where Steele ran and if blacks vote based on race Steele would have won. Maryland is 30%black and a liberal state.

I did, of course, know plenty of people that only supported him b/c he was half black. I, however, did not support the socialism of America, which is why I could never support someone like Obama.

What you should understand is that blacks traditionally vote Democratic. In the past, the black electorate supported white candidates who are Democratic-that doesn't make blacks racist. In 2000 blacks vote 90% for Gore and 88% for Kerry in 2004. These men were both white, which makes your racist claim invalid. How do you explain 53% of Hispanics voting for Kerry in 2004 and voting 67% for Obama in 2008.

Do you know what socialism is? Do you know what racism means? I'm from Canada and Obama is no socialist. He believes in free markets and tax cuts. Socialism means that the government owns most of the means of production and business. The US has checks and balances anyway, so what are you so afraid of. what a moron. yes i Know what socialism means, and Obama wants NOTHING to do with a free market, and is going to raise taxes. And no, our system is NOT about the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, as the rich don't get richer by the poor getting poorer. Capitalism has done more than any economic system to lower poverty, and Obama wants to change that. and no, I am not a rich person, I am a college student making 20k a year (and my degree won't make me rich either)

The US is not an absolute capitalist society first of all. Obama wanting to change the tax policy is hardly "socialism". If that's socialism, and you really want to do away with all things socialists, then we need to get rid of public schools, medicare, social security, HMOs, public hospitals, etc.
