  • Can I instal this on my dog? It's about time he did somthing!

  • Hiker:

    - bob i want toast... walk around for a minute.

  • i could see the use for hikers for sure; If you really needed to power something.

  • They should build thing like those everywhere their movement on our body the most(On the arm,Neck):P

  • yay! we wont have to pay for energy

  • except for food

  • would it not make more sense to have this in the sole of the shoe as a energy absorption unity? and maybe if the cloths had micro fibers and magnets woven into them the whole body would act as a generator.

  • This is great! People could use it to generate enough electricity to light crack pipes anywhere. The money they would save on lighters would pay for thier rehab.

  • "I am Galstaff, Sorcerer of Light. This knee device could be used to generate electricity while a person is walking. I'm attacking the darkness."

  • @bubezleeb lived eht er'uoY

  • I dont think anyone will ever use this to power their phones, batteries become more efficient every year. But I can see that thishas loads of potential for prosthetic limbs and such.

  • but if they integrate this stuff into everyday clothing, then it may be used for other everyday gadgets.

or like they said, power for hikers and whatnot.

  • Good point!

  • A guy in England has pioneered self powered traffic lights that get their energy from vehicles driving over springy magnets at the lights. I was thinking that the same idea could be applied in busy foyers and shopping malls, schools, etc to generate electricity for the buildings foyer.

  • I dont think they'd be able to get much power from that for big buildings, maybe enough to light the buildings. Surley it would be cheaper to to use normal electricity?

  • Yeah, I expect you're right there.

  • just think about it if this was in fact in your clothes. it could be on a smaller scale. and there could be a charger in your pocket that charges

  • Great idea to harness this power source I particularly like that they modified it so it's not hampering and harnessing the whole time. Seemed to strike the right balance. Cheers, Lesley

  • imagine a world where insect-like robots, attach themselves to you and feed off of your struggling -

a small price to pay to power your 10 cellphones

  • Could be used to power a portable doomsday device.

  • Oh ha! ha! ha! What a catchy title! Not!!!!

  • Sweet! I have always wondered about the potential energy in human biological processes. Granted motor functions, body heat, ATP, and nervous system electrical discharges are all small compared to other forms of energy we can synthesize, but seeing someone actually harnessing all the free energy we loose out on is really interesting.

I can see people being motivated to work out continuously so long as their MP3 players are charged by their movement. lol

  • Kids are still going to sit at hope hooked up to there game systems. Mybe incorperate a game into to get fat ass kids off their asses.

  • yea! we could call it something like...the Nintendo Wii!!

  • Wow hey look i just have to move my arm!!!! I mean get outside go for a walk not stay in front of the tv "Mr.Shadows"

  • the last thing we need are dilusional kids and other gamers out and about the public thinking they're playing a video game. besides, the actual movement involved in playing Wii or games like DDR has actually done wonders for obese kids in the past already. All I'm saying is it's not exactly the most original idea to date

  • yea but you're forgetting the fact that this could be used to power up prosthetics... technology like this doesnt just stop at powering up phones but keeps on going and eventually will be essential to other kinds of technologies in the future... its like that for all kinds of research... even if its really dumb now it might become a milestone later on

  • Oh stop now you just sound stupid ok first place you mentioned nothing about ddr and show me a study where it showed fat kids losing weight on it. Stop trying to act like you know something. I was just saying good invention and tying to state anoter possible application for it then you had to come by and try to be a smart ass. So just stfu.

  • geez, someone is having a hissy fit. but just to humor you...

    youtubeDOTcom/watch?v=63DpzX4MnLs

DAAAYUMMM all I did was youtube search "DDR fights obesity" and BAM! lol you made that way too easy, dude.

  • This is some handy science!

  • that's a good idea! if there was an iPod-sized one I'd get it.

  • The company behind this technology is called Bionic Power Inc.

  • im glad i found this channel, so interesting.

  • That is a brilliant idea

it could be used to power an ipod during a wrokout

  • is that ten cellphones on standby or ten cellphones during phoning? If it's during phoning, that's pretty amazing.

  • that's 10 phones during talking.

  • Hmmm... 5 watts seems a little low for 10 phones durings talks. I checked the linked article, and it says nothing of the phones actually being in use, but half a watt seems low for a phone during talking. It could be that they're talking about five watts per cycle, though they're not specifying it, and I would suppose that's the most logical interpretation...

  • GREAT WERE CAN I GET ONE

  • wait like 4 years...maybe 3.

  • uh oh. it's the matrix. peeps as batteries

  • first viewer plus good technology
