San Francisco, on the other hand was a great place to visit.
It USED to be legal to go up to the sign, back when my dad was a teenager (circa 1960/70) or so he said. There's a lot of history behind the sign-look it up, interesting stuff!

Around 100-120k per year. Yes you could certainly live there. However, there are plenty of much more affordable places in the United States. 100k does not go far in Los Angeles or practically anywhere in California. You are in the 9 percent tax bracket. So Feds take a 30 some percent cut of your income, then Cali comes in with 9 percent. Plus all the little taxes and regulations and you are not left with much money to spend.

At that time the city would have 118 or so days with Stage 1 smog alerts. There have not been any since 1997 in the L A Basin. Well first maybe take a motel room . Theres excellent motel rooms aby disney land VERY CHEAP .Also to make things cheaper take family packs tickets whenever there is a chance to buy them NOT just tickets but things take are in groups. Also you should rent a bicyecal. CHEAP AND FRIENDLY. OR A CAR IF YOU HAVE SOME CASH EVRYONE PICHES IN. THATS PROABLY WHAT ID DO IF I HADA TIGHT Boudget. Around 100-120k per year. Yes you could certainly live there. However, there are plenty of much more affordable places in the United States. 100k does not go far in Los Angeles or practically anywhere in California. You are in the 9 percent tax bracket. So Feds take a 30 some percent cut of your income, then Cali comes in with 9 percent. Plus all the little taxes and regulations and you are not left with much money to spend.
I guess if you REALLY like LA, then go for it.

LA is filled with gangs and crime. patrolled by corrupt cops who abuse their power. earthquakes. the people who run hollywood are all corrupt and crazy. go live in boston. beautiful foliage in the fall. the best city in all around sports. celtics- 17 rings. lakers- 16 rings. one of the best schools and best hospitals in the whole world.

@fenerium2000 I really doubt it lol. I once visited my cousin in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and we found something to do downtown after dark. So I hope you dont honestly expect people to beleive you cant find anything to do in America's second largest city, home of the rich and famouse and land of sunshine. hehe, oh and Las Vegas is like a 4 hour drive away so there is absolutley no chance im buying this bs; you must be a really boring person, no offence XD

I see a lot of people talking about the gangs in L.A. and yes they are there, you just have to know where not to go, like any major city in the world. It has it's bad and it good neighborhoods and the good ones far out number the bad ones. If you are on vacation there, driving around to see the sights just stay on the major roads and you will never have a problem.

Great shots!! I was born a raised in So. Cal. I moved to the Gulf Coast 15 years ago for A great job and I really miss living there. The photos took me back to some great times growing up, Thanks again. And if you have never been there and are thinking of going,.....GO you won't regret it.

what is beautiful about waking up a 4AM because you need to go to work at 9AM and than get off at 5PM but get home around 8PM lol I can't believe L.A had a fucking subway but due to oil companies it was shut down, now that is crazy.

@1111ALO1111 Oh, sorry. Yeah I guess they reopened the subway, old news. Traffic is horrible, thats not old news, and also, new news is L.A is #2 on the most polluted list. It is a beautiful city but The California Air Resources Board states that 18,000 deaths a year are premature deaths caused by air pollution. That is not cool. I wanted to live there, the skyline is so beautiful.

@ChrisESPOne Actually it is 9,000 (see how you doubled it, lol) but yes a lot. When I was a kid in the mid 70s the smog was so bad that your eyes would burn. At that time the city would have 118 or so days with Stage 1 smog alerts. There have not been any since 1997 in the L A Basin. So it is getting better but with large mountains surrounding us and the heat does not help. Hey you know bashing CA will never go out of style. So please do not move out here... we have enough crazies already..peace

The pop. has gone up by a tad bit, so if anything, they are just not warning you guys anymore because there would probably be an alert everyday. Did the state take drastic measures that improved the pollution that much?

@ChrisESPOne Yes the pop has gone up and with it the amount of cars and trucks on the road. No, you can feel a very bad smoggy day, but it has been years since we had a Stage 1 alert. Yes CA has some of the most strict EPA regulations in the country. From California Reformulated Gasoline Program to Emissions standards that are more strict than the Fed Govt. Also keep in mind LA County (METRO) currently operates North America's largest CNG-powered transit bus fleet. It has come a long way .

Now the only thing on the horizon for LA is MAD MAX. The city is circling the bowl. Its OVER for LA. I ADVISE ALL POTENTIAL VISITORS TO NOT COME TO LA. GO TO NORCAL, SAN DIEGO, OC...LA WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY AND LEAVE YOU PO'ED.
