How anyone can buy a car that looks like this is totally beyond belief. It looks like it was designed by a 5 year old girl. The designers at Kia then took that girl's crayon drawing of a car and literally turned it into a real-life car - exactly like the drawing.

kia updated the soul for 2012. they added direct injection to both engines. the 1.6 makes 135 horsepower and the 2.0 makes 160 horsepower. also, they will have 6 speeds too. the base model will have a 6 speed manual only while higher trim levels will get an optional 6 speed auto. the 1.6 will be good for 28 city, and 34 highway. the 2.0 is good for 27 city, 33 highway. they really stepped up their game!
Well my Soul Tempest gets so much attention so a horrible car ...i don't think so this car has everything its cool its different its a stunning looking car and those that don't think so must need their eyes testing !

@64bitgfx Check my channel if you have doubt about my bias but you have to consider that the Juke is not really in the same price range. If you option out a Juke, it can run you $30k Canadian whereas a Soul all optioned out will run you $5000 less.
Having said that, I do like the Juke better for aesthetics but if you wanted to get a base model Soul as an affordable method of transportation, it can't be beat.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a RECALL of nearly 24000 Kia Souls years 2009 and 2010, they can catch on fire due to faulty wiring. In addition to this NHTSA has also opened a probe into steering defects for the 2010 Soul. Kia Sorrento is being RECALLED also. NHTSA is now also investigating the 2011 Sonata for a serious steering system defect. Look it up on Reuters.

We just bought a used one (2010, 13K miles) and it rocks! It's the "Exclaim" version in Java (brown), and it looks really good. It has a surprising amount of kick to it, especially getting on the freeway. We've yet to see what our mileage actually comes out to, but a fillup for $30 after a week is a refreshing change from the $60 the Jeep Grand Cherokee inline 6 (our other car, for now) will suck through in less time. The Soul is highly recommended.
@genzcop by the way im over 200 but i havent had any problems... not once.... :) no hums or buzzes when i accelerate... its so silent.. still sounds new.... test drive it man... my forte runs better than my 2007 civic...

My husband and i just bought a Kia Soul,no other manufacturer offers 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty and 10 year or 100,000 mile warranty on the ingine and tranny if you can find a better deal from a U.S manufacturer let me know..
Just bought one and couldn't love it more. Tons of room, fun to drive, and very well made. Could have bought something 3x more expensive but that would have just got me the same boring thing everyone else drives. Yuck. Why be like everyone else? Beauty's in the eye of the beholder I suppose, but don't knock it 'til you sat in one and checked it out. By the way, I'm 40 and have owned VW, Toyota, Volvo, Ford, and Chevy vehicles and this is by far my favorite.

I don't see anything particularly feminine about this car, whatever that means. Purely subjective or maybe you're referring to some of the upholstery design options (although they don't include flower patterns or anything like that). Fit is also a good car with more of a track record if u prefer to be a little lower to the ground.
This is the very definiton of a "college chick" car. If you are older than 25 and have testicles, you should be tarred and feathered if you are caught buying one of these.
If I'm gonna go into the funky "box" segment, I'd get a Honda Element. Sure, they cost more but you can't beat the reliability, resale, and design of Honda. The Element just looks better too...its by far the most upscale "box" on the market.
I've owned 4 different cars, nissan, ford, bmw, and lexus, and, no lie, my kia soul is by far my favorite! It has great control, unbelievable safety, great conveinence features, stylish, handles beautifully, and is just all around a great car! No problem, and my friend owned 3 kias and has never had problems with any of them. The Kia Soul is by far the way to go!!!!! Recommended!!!!

I just got it for my first car today, I have been saving for ever, i am 17 and i love this thing so much, it gets between 24-30 mpg, and it handles so well, like a car, and not like a box, (like the nissan cube) and it comes with blue tooth thats voice operated and a usb port for an ipod, light up fancy interior, a sun roof, 18 inch rims, and is cheap with a 10 year warranty! :O if your a teenager this car is made for you =)
no thats the best part!! :D it literally feels like your driving a sedan, and as for big, this thing fits in and out of parking lots with a breeze, compact spaces are like normal size haha and i take it to LA like on melrose and stuff, parallel parking is soooo easy with this car, its just plane awesome! :)

During the clunker days, i've test drove many cars, including Soul. It has a very similar drive to Nissan Cube but both has loud engine noise under 45mph. Mean while the Scion xB drove very similar to Honda Element. Its all up2 ur personality to "love" the car that fits ur life style.
i have had my soul plus for 5 months and put almost 6k on it due to road trips. i couldnt ask for a smoother ride and it is fun as hell. im planning on getting a custom paint job and a new system in the upcoming weeks equipped with led's throughout the vehicle to match the ones in my speakers
Personally I like what Kia is doing with its 2010 lineup. Personally, I like the Forte for its price and how close it really is to a Civic in all aspects and the warranty. But my only issue with ever driving this.... good GOD I can't stand its boxy shape. The exterior styling just isn't what I look for...
I'm 5' 10". There's plenty of headroom. I've not experimented with legroom because I always ride high. Believe me, this only looks like a small car. There's sufficient posture adjustment for me, but I'm a smallish guy. The center armrest is non-negotiable. It does seem to lye back in the compartment though.
Note that the statement in the video that the 1.6L base model omits AC and antilock brakes appears to be wrong. Kia's site shows AC and ABS/electronic stability control as standard equipment across all models. The Soul really seems to be a great value.
American businessman are to fault for the loss of the big 3. I don't care what type of business you are, this is survival of the fittest. If you constantly ignore quality and design in comparison with foreign automotive manufacturers, than you deserve to fail. I like GM, Ford, and Chrysler but poor forecasting and planning in the states has hurt them. Also having too many arms of one company severely weakened their financial success in recent years.

kia soul isn't a bad looking vehicle. especially compared to the scion and the cube concept that nissan came out with. the only thing with the soul is that the base model lacks an a/c among other things. which is pretty weird, especially for this day and age.

You should do some research.. The Koreans are building cars much better now. Hyundai ranks veru high in reliability now. Check out a recent Consumer Reports They are much better than the domestics. The styling is a matter of persoanl taste.. I like the Soul better than the Cube, and a little better than the xB.

If I'm gonna go into the funky "box" segment, I'd get a Honda Element. Sure, they cost more but you can't beat the reliability, resale, and design of Honda. The Element just looks better too...its by far the most upscale "box" on the market.

I've owned 4 different cars, nissan, ford, bmw, and lexus, and, no lie, my kia soul is by far my favorite! It has great control, unbelievable safety, great conveinence features, stylish, handles beautifully, and is just all around a great car! No problem, and my friend owned 3 kias and has never had problems with any of them. The Kia Soul is by far the way to go!!!!! Recommended!!!!

im thinking about getting this for my self as well just kinda thinking between the eclipse and this kia i already got a kia model but far as me being a guy i do want a sport car but then again i dont mind having a small car that i can move around with easy im use to having a small car after all i only had 1 car which is a kia sephia but still eclipse wouldnt be bad right but hell you cant beat the $ tag like the kia soul have hahaha

yes! I just got it for my first car today, I have been saving for ever, i am 17 and i love this thing so much, it gets between 24-30 mpg, and it handles so well, like a car, and not like a box, (like the nissan cube) and it comes with blue tooth thats voice operated and a usb port for an ipod, light up fancy interior, a sun roof, 18 inch rims, and is cheap with a 10 year warranty! :O if your a teenager this car is made for you =)

no thats the best part!! :D it literally feels like your driving a sedan, and as for big, this thing fits in and out of parking lots with a breeze, compact spaces are like normal size haha and i take it to LA like on melrose and stuff, parallel parking is soooo easy with this car, its just plane awesome! :)

@CodyBaird Totally agree. Its a small "SUV" type. You just cant beat it. Has a bunch of room, but still gets about 30MPG! And I have fallen in love with the Speaker Mood Lights. =]

During the clunker days, i've test drove many cars, including Soul. It has a very similar drive to Nissan Cube but both has loud engine noise under 45mph. Mean while the Scion xB drove very similar to Honda Element. Its all up2 ur personality to "love" the car that fits ur life style.

i have had my soul plus for 5 months and put almost 6k on it due to road trips. i couldnt ask for a smoother ride and it is fun as hell. im planning on getting a custom paint job and a new system in the upcoming weeks equipped with led's throughout the vehicle to match the ones in my speakers

Personally I like what Kia is doing with its 2010 lineup. Personally, I like the Forte for its price and how close it really is to a Civic in all aspects and the warranty. But my only issue with ever driving this.... good GOD I can't stand its boxy shape. The exterior styling just isn't what I look for...

I'm 5' 10". There's plenty of headroom. I've not experimented with legroom because I always ride high. Believe me, this only looks like a small car. There's sufficient posture adjustment for me, but I'm a smallish guy. The center armrest is non-negotiable. It does seem to lye back in the compartment though.

Note that the statement in the video that the 1.6L base model omits AC and antilock brakes appears to be wrong. Kia's site shows AC and ABS/electronic stability control as standard equipment across all models. The Soul really seems to be a great value.

American businessman are to fault for the loss of the big 3. I don't care what type of business you are, this is survival of the fittest. If you constantly ignore quality and design in comparison with foreign automotive manufacturers, than you deserve to fail. I like GM, Ford, and Chrysler but poor forecasting and planning in the states has hurt them. Also having too many arms of one company severely weakened their financial success in recent years.

You do know the Chevy MonteCarlo is made in Mexico??? And that GM build lots of cars in China too..right, And most Toyota's and Honda's are made here in the USA?? And that Hyundai builds the Sonata in Montgomery Alabama ??

Kia Soul got a FULL 5 star Euro NCAP safety rating and was rated the safest B-segment car in the world.
Scion got a poor safety rating for side impact, and descent for front and rear.
Kia Soul looks unique and beautiful
Scion XB looks like a cereal box..

kia soul isn't a bad looking vehicle. especially compared to the scion and the cube concept that nissan came out with. the only thing with the soul is that the base model lacks an a/c among other things. which is pretty weird, especially for this day and age.

You should do some research.. The Koreans are building cars much better now. Hyundai ranks veru high in reliability now. Check out a recent Consumer Reports They are much better than the domestics. The styling is a matter of persoanl taste.. I like the Soul better than the Cube, and a little better than the xB.

What company you support has nothing to do with it.. GM sold the same number of cars as Toyota, difference is Toyota made 4 biillion in proffit and GM lost 4 billion...Domestic auto car failures are due to previous poorly made cars, and UNIONS that make them very inefficient companies. I make my purchase decisions based on the best product for the best price... PERIOD.
