Also, depends on what type of diabetes Type 1 or 2. Your father most likely has type 2 if you're saying he's over weight.
I got diabetes when I was pregnant and it's totally common. In pregnancy the placenta releases a hormone that causes it...
Fortunately after the baby was born it went away.

She learned about diabetes when I became pregnant and diagnosed with it. I explained I her what causes it (out side of pregnancy) and also why I tested my glucose so often. Then our dog became a diabetic and was on insulin..she has a lot of exposure on the topic. LOL.

@TwoSwansAndMe actually sugar doesn't cause diabetes, it is caused by having a gut and not eating healthy, my dad got it cus he had a gut and wasnt eating healthy
