@1nd1en1le It would be very heavy and warm. The way I worked it is very stiff so you could use a larger crochet hook to give it some flexibility. It should work up fast.
@tjw1963 how about using this idea to make little hanging plant holders? I have limited table/counter space, and so maybe hanging a few of my smaller plants in the window..you know, crochet a sturdy little "cup," with this idea, and then just weave the 4 strands evenly around the top edge and use the ends tied at the top as the hanger? :)
That is very impressive. I have trouble working with just 2 strands! My finges and wrists hurt so bad after just a few rounds, and I have trouble after the first round finding my starting stitch sometimes. I am definately going to try the multiple strands, with a bigger hook of course :) Thanks for the video!
I just started using multiple strands and found that the yarns seem to tangle and I havae to stop and rewind them. What am I doing wrong? Love your video!
@genevalou I made these as trivets in "peaches n creme" kitchen cotton to match purchased dish cloths which I crocheted a topper for and a matching magic potholder both from Teresa's tutorials using 1strand I keep a few made up to have last minute gifts handy. For my friends who still use iron skillets I added a handle covers. For those I used 2 stands of cotton and just crocheted a tube about 5inches long. The set makes a great Christmas gift too!
I crocheted a scarf using two different colors. It was somewhat of a hassle but it came out nice. I've never thought about trying four at a time. I like the look though :o)
Love this idea with using 4 strands and the N hook! Besides a coaster or rug, can you think of anything else one might make using the 4 strands. Just wondering! I might make a small throw for the top of my new washer so it won't get scratched. It would be colorful and serve a good purpose. Thank you for this very nice video. :)
Thanks teresa for putting this video up. Its very helpful. I always wanted to knit and crochet with 2 or more strands because its an awesome technique to do. I haven't crochet or knitted 2 strands of yarn or more yet, but since you put the video up I will soon. Thanks.
Hi teresa- am loving your videos, very informative. Are you able to show us a tutorial on how to make a Solomon's Knot triangle shawl? I cant find any good video tutorials on this and they look so easy, but I just cant seem to get started and am having trouble positioning each one correctly. There is a video by "dropsdesign" on youtube called "Love Knots Triangle" but they werent very clear. Im hoping you will come to my rescue. You are a crochet goddess.
Actually, this could be a coaster, if one only used two strands. I think it's a little thick using 4 strands . . . this caught my eye as I just last night decided that was going to be what I'm making all 13 of my husband's siblings for Christmas this year.
Thank you for posting this. There's a project I've been putting off because I didn't feel confident about working with multiple strands of yarn, but this really helped.
Hi Teresa, on this video I wanted to say "Thank You" for your tutorial videos! I have been able to learn how to crochet thanks again! Your'e a great teacher!!!!! :)
its fun to try different things though i guess this would be good for a rug. or a coaster , i guess you would call this a wrist work out, rest now and thank you
I always crochet like that. Actually, I learnt to crochet on my own. I've had no teacher. So I didn't realise till I saw your videos that my method of holding the needle is wrong. By then I was too far gone to learn a new habit. Anyway, it doesn't make much of a difference...
This is the way I hold my hook all the time. I have never been able to hold it like a pencil. I've never tried using more than one strand at a time. It looks like it would be hard to do and cramp your hand. I get a cramp in my left thumb when I first start to crochet and eventually it will go away the longer I crochet.
@mussopman Working with 4 strands of yarn is almost like a mild "workout". Most people are probably going to experience some mild discomfort and cramping. My arm/wrist was a little stiff after making the video. I don't normally crochet that that many strands of yarn.
i bet this would make a really warm blanket...
1nd1en1le 1 month ago
@1nd1en1le It would be a very warm blanket. Working with this many strands will tire out your hand and arm if you are making a big project.
tjw1963 1 month ago
@1nd1en1le It would also be a very heavy blanket.

me personaly i hate the sound when i like put the crochet and yarn threw...so annoying but soo addicting and fun to crochet..

@1mizzbabyblue Glycerin soap will help reduce the squeak of the yarn on the hook.

@sanjurodog You could use this as a plant hanger. You will continue working increase stitches and increase rounds.

@tjw1963 :) yes. I'm gonna try it! Thank you for the inspiration!

@davidcadd Maybe you are working the stitches to tight?

@tjw1963 Thanks for suggestion. I'll try to loosen up and see if that works. I've learned so much from your videos!

If you use 100% cotton or wool it would make a great trivet to place hot pots or serving bowls on to protect your table
jcrefasi1 1 year ago
that would make a nice thick potholder. Maybe in a spiral design or something.
