You are so amazing!! I also listen to other Chopin Polonaise(Heroic)Op.53.This is one of the greatest playing! I'm so impressed!! Thank you very much!!
This performance is reasonably good, the pace's too fast , however, still better than Andrew Tyson who tried to recompose it this year in Poland, All the best
wow! realmente es muy talentosa la chava y me encanta, es simplemente increible, esta piez es una de las mejores composiciones del mundo, mucha suerte para esta chica que va a llegar muy lejos : )
VERY good technique. Didn't seem very engaging though, In my humble opinion, the tempo limited the audience from enjoying it, also, I'd say a better mic would pick up all the dynamics you put into this work. So you did very well. :) with better equipment and a slightly slower tempo this would be great!
i think what everyone needs to do is stop comparing every single youtube video to a performance by the best pianists in the world AKA martha argerich, horowitz. its fucking annoying
seremerow, yes, she's phenomenal, but is playing a tad faster than she can play it and the result is many mistakes. But, if she played it just slightly slower, she'd be supreme. I'm out of adjectives. She is very capable of recording professional CDs . She's just rushing everything a little too much.
seremerow, her technique DID remind me of Martha Argerich, and the tempo and everything does sound like her, except for all the errors. But this pianists is superb; she just needs to slow it down to a tempo that she's more comfortable with so that she's not playing with a hope and a pray. My teacher always told me to play a little slower than you're capable of in public to avoid errors.
Actually, I don't think her playing is horrible, especially when she is playing such a difficult piece of Polonaise. Instead, I appreciate that she plays with an appropriate dynamics, which is quite rare for a female able to play with that loudness. However, she still need to work harder on the tempo controlling, which we just can't keep playing fast or even rush to the end. After all, you did proved your ability to finish the whole Polonaise, but not your control on it. Technique is control!
You are not technically that good. In the octave section, I cannot here some of the notes in the right hand chords, which means you went and played that part too fast without properly studying that section before doing so. Make sure all your notes speak.
Are you a fucking idiot or are you just deaf? Perhaps the recording quality wasn't that great - ever think of that? You are going to say she's "not technically that good" (which is terrible English, by the way) just for that? You're a fucking loser.
dreadful!! No polish spirit at all!! Just hammered out. This is one of greatest Chopin's masterpieces not an exercise in left hand octaves, and fourths in the beginning!
On 3:00 , octaves on E #D #C and B, like, what the heck, somebody go try it on the piano as fast as her... at least I know its possible, Once I wondered when playing Dvorak's Op. 22.2 on piano...
I really do not know. You should have enough technics to be able to play this. There is no list, I suppose. My consultant tells me that I should learn each hand separately and slowly with some special technic - to make the hands learn their parts. I think that unless you have enough experience in learning the music you should consult a person that might train you.
So I would recommend you to play Cherny-Hermer Etudes. I also played Chopin Waltzes (op. 64 1 and 2) before starting learning this. But I still have not got enough technics. Especially the octaves in the left hand. =) Still trying. ;-)
This lady has a natural technique; it's a gift. She can clearly play anything. I hope she loves to play. Some pianists are deeply musical but must slave away for every note. They would look at Ms. Kim and think, "if only..." Not everyone is born with everything. I hope Ms. Kim enjoys her piano, and continues to enjoy her music-making and share it with us.
you are playing it like machine. dont do that. easy? watch out melody and harmony.. Left hand isn't so good as u can, that position needs more than others, about one year. [and won't be perfect]
You're a great pianist but not a great musician. Horowitz was a musician. Did you see his japan recitals? It was great even though there were many wrong notes. You're like Freddy Kempf, he also just want to show technique. So put more emotion to it, and if you do both your emotion and technique will look very well. Try to play your left-hand octave passage more clear? Anyways how old are you?
HAHAHA That's brilliant!!!! I think you can play a little more refined in places..I think it's not note perfect..but hey...if i could play like this i'd never do anything but play the piano...so...you are fantastic!!!
Everyone always comments on people's lack of emotion on these youtube vids. Of course there aren't many Martha Argerichs but I'm just starting to learn to play this and it seems like I'll never be able to play it. I suppose it would help if I could sight read... I just think being able to play this at all is impressive.
it's fine :] you have really good technique its just you need to focus more on dynamics :D maybe try chopin's etude op. 10 no. 3 and do the cortot exercises. they're really beneficial :]
verry good advice alex. I also sugjest playing many easy chopin nocturnes. Number 20, 14 (esspecialy 14 it will be so beneficial!!!), 13 (don't rush that one!), and 6. It will help you slow things down. And put the feeling in your fantastic playing!
Who are you to be posting negative comments on this young girls playing ...which in my opinion is very good, ...considering she is playing an extremely complex piece of chopin. I am guessing you probably can not even play the piano yourself. Let us see your attempts at the A Flat Polonaise before you make comments on other peoples.
In my opinion, your performance was one of the finest performances I have ever heard, bar none. Another one of my favorite compositions is Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in Bb minor. Could you make a video of you playing that composition?Thank you.
If the musician is the same as the owner of this account, Bella, a piece of advice from another lady pianist, I really dont think you should put your full birth date on the internet for everyone to see. Just for your own safety.

I appreciate your comments. I, myself, am not a pianist, just a lover of the piano and people who can play it well. While not a pianist, I own an original Chickering baby grand piano made in the 1920s.I especially love the Polonaise Op.53 and have viewed many videos of it being played. In my personal opinion Ms. Kim's performance is the best I have heard, bar none. Oh, were I to have even 1% of her talent. Such is life. Them that can, do;them that can't, listen to them that can!
goldnotbook, I agree. She is an AWESOME pianist, but I think she gets a little rattled when playing in front of a cam and plays things so rushed, which causes many mistakes. If she would simply slow it down a notch, she could play it perfectly. I always ask her to slow down a little. lol

Great performance, especially at such a young age.
However, chopin is not meant for children! it's mature content haha

There are 2 stupid comments here:
1) its not rare for a female to play with this loadness
2)This is most likely an ABRSM student taking exams playing it as a grade 8 peice, so dont expect polish spirit here.
3) This is definately not an impressionist contest so dont expect her to be like Elena
Kuschnerova.
4) most of you cant even lay like this girl so dont brag, she is exxelent in her own right
5)Your damn right youtube has lots of stupid comments.
