There was a bar in Denver that used to have a brick throwing contest to break tv sets while Howard was commentating during MNF. That made me like Howard all the more. He was the best!

Technically, ABC forced him to sit out the remainder of his contract. Howard was supposed to help Al Michaels and Jim Palmer call the '85 World Series on ABC. But once excerpts of his book hit TV Guide, out was Howard and in came Tim McCarver.
