  • Can someone please confirm once and for all whether it is right or wrong to ice the bicep after a tear?

  • wata pussy, i woulda carrired on if i snapped my spine up

  • DAYUM! I can't believe how calm he was after it. Respect.

  • nah I ain't watching this

  • for one rep maxes, I should say*

that's just asking for trouble, honestly

  • don't fucking deadlift with an axle bar and you'll be fine

  • @TBW92 This...stupid, unnecessary and as we can see, dangerous

  • Never again will I do deadlifts that way. F that.

  • this video scares the shit out of me man

  • that is why i do overhand deadlifts. whats the use doing one over and one under. if you can't pick up 700pounds with double overhand, what is the use.

your only as strong as your weakest link. i admire a guy who picksup 500 pounds with double over hand, more than a guy who does 800 with atlernate grip. (i think it is an ego booster)

  • @alfredtink dumbest thing i ever heard

  • @DMxNemesis

why is that. wouldn't it be more impressive if someone did 800 pound double overhand instead of the other way. anyway, not starting an arguement or any name calling. love to here your side.

  • @alfredtink well I think your incorrectly using the "your only strong as your weakest asset part." When its double overhand its more grip strength, which is only your forearms. Your forearms will never be as strong as your quads/glutes/lower back. Basically your forearms will hold you back from gaining serious overall strength. The strongest powerlifters use mixed + wraps. He only got that tear btw because it was an axel bar.

  • @DMxNemesis

and another thing is bicep tears like this. i was doing the other way when i hurt my bicep. now, double overhand works good for me.

  • @alfredtink its because you bent your elbow ever so slightly which placed more tension on the biceps. Flexing the triceps would help. his elbow was bent here.

  • this is why i prefer double overhand

  • Just out of curiosity i heard that when you tear a muscle it comes back bigger, is this true?

  • @badmansyke lol yes but not in that way the tiny fibres in ur arm tear to become bigger but not an injury like that

  • @steveninthematrix Deadlifts, they are deadly serious.

  • ouch

  • im confused - should u ICE or not after a bicep tear??

  • @RoathRipper dont ice it, if the muscle is detached from the bone and tendon icing it will cause it to shrivel up into the shoulder like a wiener in a cold pool. this complicates the surgery to reattach it.

  • @nikolatesla08 thanks, that makes sense, but in the heat of the moment feels like a counterintuitive thing to do.

  • @RoathRipper Yes don't listen to that crap about no icing .. keep inflammation and swelling down it is the most important thing at that stage of the injury

How To Treat a Pulled Muscle

    By Jonathan Cluett, M.D.,

'Ice application helps reduce swelling, bleeding, and pain. Ice application should begin as soon as possible after sustaining a muscle pull. Ice applications can be done frequently, but should not be done for more than 15 minutes at a time"

  • @mac2k2020 Thats not a pulled muscle though, the tendon detatched itself

  • @loldudeno torn tendons gets the same treatment as torn muscles ice and anti-inflammatory after a few days either rehab for a partial tear or surgery for full tear

  • shiiitt.... its like the meat pulled off of the fuck bone itself.

  • @steveninthematrix With deadlifts you have to be... Dead serious.

  • @Chrisman50 YYEYEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH

  • The thick bars are for training, not for pushing yourself to the max. Is different to do 6 or 8 reps with 70% of your max weight with a thick bar, than just 1 rep with your max or near max weight. Althought it was also bad luck, and as the other guy said, deadlifts must always be taken very seriously.

  • worst part is that the bar was so thick he had no way around it. his wrist would automatically supinate

  • wow yeah I can tell deffintely what happened was he did not lock out the biceps first and then drive from the Hips + LEgs ... he tried to help the legs by shruggin the bar up with his bicep.... .... bicep tear ... sucks man!

  • @steveninthematrix are you sure it's because the arms aren't perfectly straight?

  • Thats one fat bar!

    Or some small hands :P

  • Surgery time!!

  • Wot kind of surgery can you get for that?

  • Complete bicep distal tear - "Get some ice! Get some ice!" - LOL

  • Auuuuuuuuu!

  • ACTUALLY the moment it tore. ouch!!!!

  • Yet so many magazines tell you to use a staggered grip while deadlifting because it increases grip strength.. Anyone who reads Muscle&Fitness or Flex or other Weider crap know what I'm talking about

  • @steveninthematrix quite cruel to say such a thing-a great truth too though

  • That looks like the worst injury ever

  • I hate the sumo grip deadlift.

  • have u noticed that those who use their left hand as an under grip in mixed grip r the ones who have torn biceps?

most if not all youtube videos of torn biceps happen to left hand under grip, on the other hand no videos of people who use their right hand as an under grip.

first i thought it's a coincidence or the left hand under grip is more common then i saw most of the top dead lifters use there right hand. can any one explain why?

  • @ahmadx05 good observation Ill be keeping that in mind! thanks

  • @ahmadx05 Left hand under grip is generally more common I believe because when many people start out deadlifting, they use the weaker grip hand (typically left) in the undergrip as the undergrip taxes the grip less. Over time they get used to it so they permanently pull right over left under (ROLU)... I think ROLU is more commonly used so therefore more tears are observed.

Meanwhile, the man who holds the current DL world record uses a ROLU, as do quite a few top PL.

  • @travisbucket56 another great comment right there , its because his arm was not fully straight !! it even says in the video , people lift much much more than this with no problems doing it correctly , the bar is well to think like he says IN THE VIDEO

  • the bar is thick as a fucking trunk, probably why he couldnt get a grip on it

  • The bicep has two separate tendons, toughen up and just use the other one!

  • @mzrealm ....yeah you clearly know alot dont you , if thats the one he fucked up when trying to lift it , then thats the one which would be used next time he tries to lift it , use your fucking brain

  • @whatugundo I was just joking dude no need to get so angry, obviously lifting again would only further worsen his injury. I meant it in an encouraging way to credit his perseverence despite his injury.

  • @mzrealm ohh haha fair , was on a rampage yesterday loll sorry for being an ultimate troll !

  • Ouch! holy shit thats gotta hurt :0 i think he took the pain quite well i would crying like a little bitch haha

  • wholeheartly wish he's ok. Nice performance but sh1t happens in life.

  • Called deadlift for a reason

  • i think his bicep is deadliften now... ±Sdidnt look wel

  • @steveninthematrix its not only bout arms straight it can heppon to any1

  • god that looks painful :(

  • spikemiva1985. u shudnt relaly say stuff like that cos its not fair. if he reads that it aint gonna do his state of mind much good

  • that dude is screwed for the rest of his life.

  • OOOOOOOUCH! I got tendinitis on both arms doing heavy bicep curls a few years back. Watching this made my arms hurt again.

  • you dont ice a torn bicep

  • @nikolatesla08 yea you do. get a fucking clue idiot. your supposed to ice a torn bicep immediately

  • @46Imthebest never ice a torn bicep as it causes it to contract and retract up into your shoulder. This will make it harder to reattach. If you had a clue you would know this.

  • rios side effect fragile tendes

  • @steveninthematrix yeah, its a very good way 2 - build insane hand strength.

  • @steveninthematrix AMEN BROTHER.

  • ouch!

  • That looked painful as f@ck !

  • palms down will prevent this when going heavy.

  • Arms straight !!! that should be one of the cardinal rules . Speaking as a repaired bicep deadlifter.

  • @shlstnqst yes you prety much have to lock out your triceps and the over under grip ecomes safe. A slight bend in the arms is very dangerous.

  • i can curl the world, what a wimp

  • Who is that asshole doing a deadlift on 0:14 with NIKE SHOX on!?!?!?

Good lord. Go barefoot if you don't have anything else.

  • Comment removed

  • @SjaakadeliC I dont think he actually deadlifted, i think it was some guy demonstrating real quick how Doug Kirby tore his bi

  • Oh shit when I saw the slow mo I almost cried

  • Get some morphine dammit

  • @Animalicia It's not a answer, it's a question, if you haven't noticed by the "?" behind the sentence. Good way to evade the question tho.

  • 0:04-0:07 ahhhhh it curls up his arm

  • FUCKKKK that's nasty

  • I never use the alternating grip. That is what causes bicep tears on the deadlift. I always use double overhand to prevent this injury. I think all thick bar deadlifts should be done double overhand............thick bars are to test lower arm strength. The double overhand is perfect.

  • why would any competition use such a big bar? Of course that wideness will influence a 'bicep curl' kind of grip

  • Ouch.

  • jesus,, this is very bad situation, his biceps wont get that 'good looking' shape again..

  • lol for some reason the way his biceps look in the close up makes me chuckle a bit hahah

  • Get some ice? Screw the ice, get some surgery

  • @burinec WHY IS THIS THE TOP COMMENT? You dont ice an injury like this. LOL, find out for yourself when the dr says the muscle retracted all the way up to the shoulder and will be harder to fix.

  • @nikolatesla08 It's a top comment because he's making fun of the guy in the background of the video who says, "Get some ice". And actually you DO ice any soft tissue injury as soon as possible, whenever possible. The ice is to reduce the inflammation & swelling that is definitely going to occur after a soft tissue injury like a sprain, strain or tear.

  • @dokokai ok i didnt hear " get some ice" the first time i listens to it. That is funny.

if its torn from th bone or tendon you dont want to ice it.........look it up.

  • @Animalicia Was it on a 2" bar?

  • ahh shit, if anyone else does this do NOT PUT ICE ON IT!!!! ice will cause the bicep to contract more up into your arm, and seriously, you don't want that after tearing a tendon

  • I've got a dumb question but Im just not sure of the answer but will that heal on its own or will he need surgery?

  • LLLLLLLLLLLLLL

  • awww the fcking thing moved ew! lol

  • Yikes, that was terrible. For example. A 150 pound axle can be harder than a 150 pound barbell because the grip handle on the axle is thicker. That's no wonder he tore his bicep. Any injury would fucking suck

  • I always use a double overhand grip on axle deads

  • dear god

  • Ouch, ouch, ouch! Poor guy, he's gonna' be out of commission for a long time. If you look carefully, his arms weren't totally straight in the beginning of the lift. So.... unfortunate, but that's what happened.

  • I just tore my bicep in October .. The distal tendon , same injury . It requires surgery if you want full strength to come back

  • @yungjock23 i had the same injury when i was boxing a week ago. my biceps are very long and thick but after the injury... its very short(right arm) i dont want this shit. what do you think?what about your biceps? was it ok when the injury was gone?

  • good form, good exercise, bad luck

  • wow.. that was unexpected.

The cause of that had to have been the thickness of the bar...

  • Uhmm, Yea, sorta, it was caused by the fact that he had to curl his wrist under the bar more, causing him to curl it slightly.

  • Yeah, that's the life we choose to live guys. That guy is a real gladiator. You ain't seen liftin until you have suffered an injury.

  • this really creeps me out...kinda scared to lift now..

  • ice , then hot water and keep repeating

  • Fucking ouch.
