QUESTION what is the correct method for running a midi controller/ synthesizer through this mixer? I just picked it up and frankly I feel stupid for not knowing. Also what about a sampler such as the SP-303?
i cant stand win7 or vista as some one that records you have to at time to get to windows mixer on vista and win/7 you can with out a lot read tap crap where xp you can they trying to make it to us home studios people to have to got to a real recording studio and dont think linux can save you same crap have know the right sound cards to use and interface
Hi just wondering if you know if this is compatible with Logic Pro, as i will be purchasing one soon, and if the 2.0 USB interface allows multi mixing, say on 8 individual drum tracks into logic. cheers x
I've been looking for an audio interface so I can record more than one track simultaneously.
I was rather chuffed when I found a Motu 828 mkII rack mount interface at the bootfair for £10 !! mint condition and it works. Unfortunately, it doesn't like Windows7. When using it with Ableton it crashes the pc. but then by all accounts win7 is crap for audio apps.
What version of windows do you use with this please? and will it record simultaneous tracks?
@SONGSTICKS A lot of older audio interfaces arent compatible with new operating systems so that is why you got it so cheap :) Yes you can record multiple channels independently. A~
Ahhh yes, I'd heard that you can create a partition in the hard drive and run XP within that. Haven't got a clue how to do it myself. I'll have to look into that..cheers.
1 ques sir!!hows the mixer/?is it working until now?!!im trying to buy this one!!but need more reviews!!at zzounds,it actually competes with macky onix serieses and behinger usb mixers!!but it looks like it was playing in the middle side!!w8 for reply sir
Is that the piece of equipment I need to use to have my band rehears with an audio out onto speaker and being able to record it at the same time on Ablteon but keeping the multi-channel (can re-mix it all afterward)? Any other device or sound card would do the trick? (We already have a mixer but can only record the whole out onto one channel on Ableton. Any advices welcome!
Okay so Im looking to buy the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB FX to record my drumset. Im getting a 7 mic set to record 2 overhead, 3 tom, 1 snare, and 1 bass, that all use Male XLR to Female XLR connectors and I was wondering if I could record all my mics using this mixer as I see it only has 4 mic imputs on the board. I would like to have all mics on different channels but if i have to split some tom mics on to one track thats perfectly fine
I just bought the imulti mix 8 usb and i'm a beginner so I was hoping you could help me with some issues. I'm running the mixer thru some m-audio speakers without a power amp and I'm having trouble with my playback sound. It's very faint. could that be the reason. I get great sound trough the mics, but the play back sucks. I'm using Mixcraft program thanks
Hey man, I currently have the Alesis multimix 8 channel USB mixer. I understand that the mixer in your video is Firewire. So with that you have 4 mono inputs and 2 stereo inputs. I am looking to record a 4 piece acoustic drumkit with the kick, snare, rack tom, floor tom and 2 overheads using microphones. I am able to do this now with my mixer but can only record in 2 channels, so I am unable to tweak each drum sound individually. Will the mixer you have work with what I'm trying? Thanks
@Irish614 First up my desk is the USB.2 not firewire. What your talking about is multi tracking live, which yes my desk will do (each desk input recording to a separate track) which by all rights the original Multimix USB that you have should be able to do aswell. I suggest you do some research in your manual or online to check. If it is supposed to, you have an issue with your multimix driver or the software your recording with doesnt support it. Good luck. A~
I saw a video of the USB 4, where he said the USB out is stereo mix. The (older) 8 is probably the same. Notice that, if anything, the specs for the older ones say USB 1.1 or higher. They don't explicity say 2.0 - and then they came out with a 2.0 device. Hmmmm.
@sujaybarad weird, didnt notice till i uploaded. oh well I covered all the important stuff in those 3 mins. Maybe my computer telling me I was talking to much :) A~
basically what are those yellow and red chords running in?

Excellent cheers.
I've seen the Motu sell on ebay for over £200 so I think I'll still make a tidy profit. Enough perhaps to get a more up to date one.

@SONGSTICKS Ask someone good on computers about vitualization of operating systems that way you can have an old OS in a new computer.

I was wondering if you could help me out please.
Will this unit record seperate tracks at the same time?
(using something like cubase and having guitar on track 1 and vocals on track 2)
Would you go with the usb version or the firewire one?
Thankyou in advance.
