  • Okay ,so after a brief phone call to Chris Costa, and obliging his humble request, I will be making this video private and will soon be removing the video all together. Thanks to those who have made positive comments and support Magpul products and training. Keep in mind that I am just a shooter like many of you. This video was never owned or sponsored by Magpul.

  • All I will say is that per Chris, Magpul has some new projects coming down the pipe. I am looking forward to whatever they may be.

Thanks to Chris, Travis, Magpul, and youtube commentators.

I will continue to run Magpul gear (ASAP, MS2, BAD, AFG, MBUS, CTR) on my rifle, I hope you do too.

    SN6 out.

  • So the options are:

    1-Drop & Forget

    2-Place in Dump Bag

3-Place on Vest/Rig in an ordered fashion.

I don't believe in #1 unless in dire conditions

#2 & #3 are kind of the same but in opposite order. - Finding the right ordered pouch and fitting it in under stress is problematic.

    - Searching for the correct mag in a Dump Bag can be difficult as well. But I've come to learn the difference of a slightly weighted AR mag vs. an empty one and between pistol & rifle mags.

    Practice either way!

  • just feel by weight!!!

  • Dump bags are okay but as previously stated by others only for empty mags. Case in point the black hawk down incident. when the rangers and delta force boys were resupplied with ammo during the fight it was in stripper clips. most of the operators where doing combat reloads and dumping their empty mags on the ground.

  • Personally, I'd rather use a dump bag. I'd only stick empty mags in there, so not hassle going through it, and you can still keep your mags for later. An exception to my statement would be if I were under fire and needed to reload quickly, I'd just drop the mag on the ground, then.

  • Dump bags are great for empty mags, but if you have a couple rounds left in a mag and reload to a full mag during an opportune time, you still want to save and have accessible the potentially life-saving rounds. If it gets down to the nitty gritty and you have to use those final rounds, it would be much better to have them easily findable on your waist or in your vest than to have to dig for them in your dump bag.

  • For empty mags though, a dump bag is the way to go. (other than the exception which you stated above)

  • Comment removed

  • Only time you dig through your dump bag is when you have a secure position.

  • lol @ 1:50. Apparently magpul has a shirt that illustrates that. I want it. On me.

  • Thanks to all of you for keeping the comments constructive.

  • if ur putting a mag into a dump bag doesnt that mean its empty?

  • @STtheboy Not always, but you're right, it should mean it is empty.

  • right u are in that case i need to practice on the tactical reload need to get rid of the velcro pouches for some open top ones it sucks having to pry them open to grab a mag in a hurry even with the magpuls

  • The main point is to not mix empty mags with partial or full mags. If you do mix them and then later need them, you will have to dig through them and find the ammo that will save your life. As simple as that. Pay attention to detail and don't set yourself up for failure.

  • good question if im doing a tactical reload the mag usually ends up on the ground i do fire til the mags empty most of the time takes alot of practice to get it right just get caught up putting rounds down range

  • Anticipate your reload, learn to count your rounds and when you get to the last round, leave it in the chamber for defense. Tac load a new mag and you're good to go. No need to charge the handle or fuss with the bolt release or BAD.

  • You're getting your terminology mixed up. A tactical reload is when you retain the magazine, and it usually still has rounds in it. you're reloading to a fresh mag during a lull. You should be indexing that partially spent mag into the "proper" position on your rig. Dump bags are bad, because all of your partially spent mags and empty mags get lumped together. You're talking about a speed or emergency reload.

  • You are correct about the speed reload. Yes they are different terminology and and deal with the amount of ammo retained in the magazine. The crux of the matter is that the average non-operator tends to treat these differently. Your form and movements during, should be the exact same. The difference is when and why. So for all intents and purposes and including the 'don't mix good ammo with bad ammo" issue, most reloads are or become tac reloads.

  • Running out of ammo with your primary is a bad thing. Yes you have your secondary but it has major disadvantages. If you are performing speed reloads, then you aren't thinking ahead and may have tunnel vision, both of which can get you killed.

  • much respect for chris costa and other military personal

  • yeah dont play airsoft fucknut 19delta cav scout son love the dump bag alot easier than reaching in a cargo pocket tough guy 10 years doing what whats ur mos besides talking shit

  • Yeah, Mr. Costa isn't talking about airsoft matches here, tough guy. From personal experience in 10 years of military service as a grunt, dump bags are a waste of money. That's why they sew cargo pockets on the side of BDU pants. Just saying...

  • honestly who has a twinkie in there dump bag maybe the heavier guys who take ur course as for me nothin but empty mags in my dump bag people make fun of me for how many mags i have there are no time outs in a firefight u either have it or u dont

  • So, you fire every mag down until it's empty? You never do tactical reloads and have spare rounds left?

  • Tallahassee from Zombieland would have twinkies in his dumpbag

  • Haha, daddy like.

  • m8,

dump bag's are good for fast drop mag,

and what Chris is talking about in this Video is IF you put EMPTY mags in the dump bag you that you may gonne need laiter,

  • oh there it is!

  • I feel like he's the Billy Mays of Airsoft advice haha :D

  • What do you mean?

  • @B34tm4k3rDP Not airsoft smart one. Yes, you could use SOME of these techniques in an airsoft game, but this is ALL real steel shooting.

  • Idiot.

  • Try this, if it' not empty then don't throw it in the dump pouch. I like the dumb pouch because it's easier to retain an empty mag with out dropping them on the ground.

  • With two beta c-mags I don't have that problem.

  • Touche. Have fun with killer feeding problems, though.

  • well Mr Costa this woundn't be an issue if the (TTP) Tactical Twinkie pouch wasn't on super back order. Lets go guys!!

oh and lets get more MS2's out too please.

  • hahahaha

  • Yea! Magpul sales a cup cake t-shirt! No shit! I personaly think this was the best part of the DVD!

  • i got that shirt its pretty cool

  • Laugh at 1:52 FTW

  • He really means that a shooter may frantically throw a magazine with some ammo into the dump bag during a tactical reload instead of indexing it onto his chest rig or belt properly

  • well there are a number of ways that are better and this would not happen to me because i specifically made my rifle to run reliably even with Wolf Ammo! I put an adams arms piston kit in mine,a young manufactering m16 bolt and bolt carrier with a "D" Ring, and an MGI rate reducing buffer with a 2X Buffer Spring so i have not had a single problem with extractions failure to feeds, or misfires at all! So i would never have to worry about this! Besides if i ever build another one im build it new!

  • im sorry but chris costa is wrong about this. the dump pouch is used to get rid of empty magazines!

  • think he joking on how people misuse dumpbags putting crap that shouldnt be there in first place.
