My guess is that at around the time this cartoon was made, most of the new skyscrapers which were going up in metropolises across the country seemed like towers to the people living in the cities. These same people probably also wondered how buildings that tall and high could be stable enough to stand freely.

@richardp14 Yeah. I've first seen this cartoon when I was a kid back in the 70's. On Sep. 11, 2001, when the attacks occured, this came to mind. When Charlie dog mentions 'The City' it's very obvious he's referring to New York City; what other city matches that description?. The way he describes of 'The City' reminds me of the chaos that was happening there on that horrible day. People can say it is a coincidence but I don't care. It is still chilling notheless.
