  • This is one of the most beautiful songs. It always makes me cry. I'd like to think MY guy thinks this of me... I should be so lucky. Elvis Costello = amazing!

  • Perfect!

  • This is one of the best songs ever written. I cry every time I hear it. Elvis Costello is a genius.

  • @JTEAM625 written and original song by CHARLES AZNAVOUR

  • love it.... had to listen one more time before I go to bed.... wow

  • so delicious... so soulful.... so makes my knees weak.... till the day I die... this voice is that....

  • 1:39 her beauty completes the song..:)

  • written and original version by CHARLES AZNAVOUR

  • buhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • i like this version better than the original ;) beautiful!

  • @missha271 Agree 100 %! Fantastic!

  • I love you Elvis!

  • this is something to remember...forever!

  • Прекрасная песня! Замечательное видео! Благодарю Вас!

  • Damn, Great! and Thumbs up if you listen to it in 2012

  • @pavlikvaclavek Thanks!. The other Side of Summer is Still my favorite album.

  • C'est affreux, j'ai trop mal aux oreilles !

  • whoever get's the top comment is gay

  • Fabulous performance.

  • A great performer!

  • I heard this song while watching Notting Hill - so I went looking for the Charles Aznavour version - absolutely brilliant! Now, I love Elvis Costello and adore his wife Diana Krall, but, why the hell did I click on this version of this song? And what the hell is doing destroying it! It will never, ever sound the same to me, ever again - thanks Elvis.

  • @toddmeister168 yeah why did you click on this version if your just gonna hate? and why did you click on the comment button if your just gonna cuss him off? why did you waste a minute of yours and all of our time making a nasty comment?

  • I'm watching a corny-commercial Cosetllo. Don't take it personally.

  • "Late Show"

  • Amo está musica, mas com o Elvis ficou divina.

  • You can tell he didn't write this; it's not witty enough, and too sentimental for his style. Not a single blatant pejorative!

  • Really, you must listen Charles Aznavour ... It's delicious ..........

  • One of the best Hungarian Péter Máté singer also sang this song.

  • really great job.

  • I love this music!

  • Letterman sucks, what an ass.

Elvis Costello gives a great performance and he totally ignores Elvis'hand.

    What a jerk

  • @diederdik c'mon, don't you think you're being a little harsh? Elvis barely put his hand up, and David's head was turned.

  • @diederdik Letterman is a nobody compared to Elvis, and he knows it. A complete fuckwit. Long live the King!

  • I got here from the video when he was singing with Billie Joe Armstrong. thought it was gonna be "She" by Green Day. lol

  • It's a great song! Costello is awesome, but singing 'Oliver's army' not this classic.

  • There are some tone deaf people on Youtube actually claiming that this version is better than Aznavour's. My advice to them is stop standing next to pneumatic drills.

  • @Ilfordloser92 but you can´t deny he does awesome

  • His voice sounds like a young man's voice, almost teenager's, such freshness about it. Incredible:)

  • very beautiful song of love, i like a lotttttttttttttttttttttt

  • awesome!!!

  • good job elvis, singing to your wife, huh?

  • Gets me everytime <3

  • Total genius. Feel every note and purely natural. Totally underrated this guy, one of the best EVER. My song to my wife.

  • i wonder why justin bieber got 20M views when this videos is exist on youtube?

  • Love Elvis Costello since day 1, and Knotting Hill is one of my fav movies! Dave is an idiot sometimes! Elvis went to shake his hand after singing, and Dave blew him off because all Dave was interested in were "the girls"...he has a brilliant artist like Elvis there, and Dave completely pays homage and all his attention to the back up ladies. Thank you Elvis for another great song!!!!

  • @LynneJoy1 and I love his voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BRILLIANT !!!!!!

  • Fuck he nailed it!! Beautiful... Just beautiful

  • @hmgriffin Damn right, he nailed it! Certainly no studio-only artist...perfect, subtle performance. Elvises Rule!

  • The original by Charles Aznavour was number one somewhere in the world on the day I was born.

  • so cute

  • Durable fellow, Elvis.

  • Every word of this song means evey word to my Grandaughter..my treasure .x.

  • Perfect performance.

  • gives me goosebumps

  • That looks like Steve Nieve on the piano, if so, the man is a genius. Check out any Attractions album from 1977 - 1984ish

  • this song was my first dance with my wife at our wedding, my eyes still well up when I here it.

    Love you Cheryl

  • Aznavour anyone?????????

  • i must be tone deaf,or you lot must be.

  • he is a good singer id give 95 thumbs up tho

  • lol

  • maravilhosaaa musicaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

  • bellissima

  • She is. She was.

  • I love his voice best when he sings ballads.

  • Now, I am no singer (at all) and Elvis - although I love him to death - is not one of the world's great 'technical' singers, but I defy anyone to do a better version of this song. His voice and (slightly awkward) delivery suit the (slightly awkward) melody perfectly.

  • @StephenPring

Defy Charles Aznavour to do a better version of this song. Original and best

  • @deadagain33 I think we are talking about two different songs. Charles Aznavour does the definitive version of the original "Tous Les Visages de L'amour". And, in my opinion, ditto Elvis for the English-language "She". However, I am not asking Charles to sing in English, or Elvis to sing in French. I wasn't really looking for an argument. I think we are both right.

  • @StephenPring You're absolutely right. I'll take it a step further. His "awkward" style suites the movie's plot that a simple awkward bloke could love and be loved by the "perfect" movie star.

  • awesome song but terrible arrangement

  • Awesome performance from Elvis but what a goon the host is - bad form to pick on the only guy in the band - W4NKR

  • I am sorry but there is only one version of this song even remotely worth listening to and that is the original Charles Aznavour version!

  • 3 people who hit dislike button didn't fall in love !

  • @ylcnsnr1 Maybe they prefer the original version

  • ELV1S numer plate in West Wickham, Kent always wondered who it was.........Okay it was The Man.!! I am privileged!!...........1979

  • Jo, cómo pierde el Costello sin los arreglos de estudio, qué decepción más grande :(

  • took my wife to see him the other week in sydney. 'great' does not begin to describe either the concert or his genius

  • He pulled this one in a superb, magnificent way. History on the making, indeed.

Hats off to Mr Costello, you sir are a most wonderful singer. * claps *

  • his voice and his words rip out my heart and soul;

  • is awesome!!!!

  • I love this song. It´s Wonderful!!!

  • looks like rafa benitez?

  • Perfect man to sing this song.

  • me encanta..

  • very cool : )

  • Hot chick over Elvis's right shoulder at 3:40

3:46 David is actually funny. Historic moment, I know.

  • O.o ok he is EC.. oki doki... i shout i know this song.

  • I LOOOOOV IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Elvis sang this so beautifully. And live, too. The song , which he didn't write, is amazingly perfect for his voice. And to think that he also is a genius at writing his own songs.

  • Such fond memories when I was full of happiness!

    Thanks for posting this!

  • Goooooooood.....

  • my dad bought this for mum in mid 70s by charles aznavour ,i was 7,he,d upset her and this was his way of saying sorry, still remember that day, mum cried throughout the song, never knew if they where tears of happiness.........

  • Dedicated to the good memoirs..and to the day that will be..

  • esta es una canción para devolverles a las mujeres elamor que nos dan dia a dia.... Dios las tenga siempre bellas

  • The perfection....

  • 1 guy doesnt know what is love... baby dont hurt me

  • best love song.

  • ´till the day i died. :)))

  • Everyone has a little bit of racism in them. If you say you dont, your'e a liar and a hypocrite.

  • @BarcaBarca1992 human race, ever heard of it?

  • Fine...but not an Elvis Costello song. Peter Mate, a Hungarian singer wrote it an Mr. Costello just re-sing it. Peter Mate wrote the english version too!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Ujvilag It's not a Peter Mate song. Charles Aznavour wrote it. The original is french, but he wrote in more than one language (the english version too)

  • @heziojansen actually the lyrics are by Herbert Kretzmer who also wrote the lyrics for Yesterday When I Was Young . CA wrote the music .

  • @Amity197111 He made a pretty racist remark many years ago at a party or something. Even Michael Jackson got mad at him. It may not have been a big deal, but I think it's tainted him, even if he apologized. Still, you have to learn to distance the person from their art, and this song I love, particularly with his voice.

  • @Nemeres I think your bringing up something that happened thirty years ago taints you, but you don't have a great voice, do you?

  • @kenjames64 Says the guy who quotes me on a months-old comment. I think I brought that up as an answer to someone's question. And yes, I do have a great voice, thx for asking.

  • @Nemeres where may we hear it?

  • @kenjames64 Nowhere, haha. For now, just enjoy Costello :)

  • @Nemeres fair enough :)

  • :') beautiful song

  • Ah, Costello, you magnificent racist bastard. I actually like this version better than Aznavour's.

  • @Nemeres please do us a favour and crawl into the nearest hole

  • @shaunone I don't even remember what I said in this vid, but... sure?

  • Honestly, the best version of this song ever recorded. Thank you very much for sharing.

  • Still an amazing song!

  • @mcutler1980 makes me cry everytime I listen to it...

  • @mcutler1980 poxa ele canta pra ela...

  • what a cute face and brilliant performance :)

  • I can't listen to this gorgeous tune without crying.

My husband heard it back in '99 a couple of weeks after we'd met. He tried to tell me about it and searched and searched for it for years. Then one night he made me a dream like surprise dinner with scallops I remember. We used to have a CD player in the kitchen so he asked me sit down at the table, then pressed Play... Yes we are still married : )

  • @shaneonya sooooo sweet......

  • @shaneonya love it, makes me cry every time

  • congradulations... @shaneonya

  • @shaneonya

congratulations girl, don't take it the wrong way but would love to have a man like yours, he sound's totally sweet :).

  • @shaneonya This could also be for my wife after 20 years together..wonderful

  • @shaneonya ... absolutly beautiful, glad you guys still got it xx

  • @shaneonya

    Enhorabuena... ojalá te dure siempre...

    a mi no.

    Salu2

  • @shaneonya no one cares you drunk whore

  • @shaneonya

You would have listened to the original charles aznavour version

  • @shaneonya This song was number one when I was born and my old man reckons it was written for me! lol

  • wow.i say everything that lincaines said.yes i cryed.i say it.just be like the song.im gonna think that way and see....32 years married scott in seattle

  • @splatterman69 Congrats on your 32 years!! That's awsome. And treating each other that way couldn't hurt, could it? This song is a wonderful reminder of the way we should all treat each other.

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all men thought of their wives that way (and women about their husbands too)? I love this song and the way he sings it.

  • @lincaines

Haha your way of thinking is sweet :^)

  • @ZiaddaiZ Thanks.... we should all feel that way towards each other, right? The world would be a much better place. :)

  • vabbè

  • I adore this song, May all men listen to this and hopefully one day feel this way about a woman. We may seem complicated but actually the two of us are all looking for the same thing, M.

  • "MAY COME TO ME FROM SHADOWS OF THE PAST THAT I'LL REMEMBER TILL THE DAY I DIE" "THE MEANING OF MY LIFE IS SHE" I never heard such lines. It will sweep any lady off her feet.

  • @levinecuneta Maybe, but that isnt saying much is it?

  • @levinecuneta beautiful lyrics....

  • excellent

  • nice show,,,,very stunning

  • Thanks for the post and sharing ^.^

  • I remember seeing his performance with the strings on Letterman back then. I've been looking for it on youtube and glad it was finally posted. Thanks! :)

  • The meaning of my life is she
