  • I love this bike. It is awesome! What did you do for the rear turn signals? Did you have to cut them or do they come apart to get them so close to the arm? I plan on modifying my own 48 and will defiantly take a page or two from your book. Great job!

  • @dave9864

Thanks Man. I took the original rear turnsignals and just removed the arms. Then I ran a bolt thru the inside of the fender struts right into the old turn signal housings without the arms. Let me know if you have any other questions. Good Building.

  • Awesome...is chain an improvement over belt or is it for appearance?

  • @lakecrab

I originally replaced the belt to a chain to make room for the larger rear tire and the old school looks but after installing it, I love it. Bike runs great and no issues with the final drive at all. Thanks

  • They're designed, engineered and built in the good ol' U.S. of A.

  • @themaxrlder

    Amen Brother.

  • Cool, I mainly just wanted to know if I could keep everything stock and just get a new rim, tire and spacers. Thanks for the info and again, very nice ride!

  • @sporty4t8

Send me some pics wen you get it done. Good riding

  • @KWagner983 Did you have to change the front pulley to an offset pulley? Since you went chain I would imagine that's the case..but I'm wondering if you would have to if you stayed belt. Just wondering if I could keep everything stock other than changing the spacers and rim to accommodate a 180 tire...BTW, heck of a nice ride you got there. Did you notice a decrease in handling with the fatter tire?

  • @sporty4t8 The front pulley/gear is not an offset. Just a standard chain conversion kit. Penn Jersey has them. The original front belt gear is hard to get off. Remember its reverse threads and you need an impact/air gun to remove it. The new gear goes on easily. It handles a bit different in the turns but still hugs them good. Thanks for the compliment. Any questions, just ask or give Jack a call at Penn Jersey. He is awesome at doing these.

  • hi, very gorgeus bobber, gorgeus job!!! if you'll think to sale in future, let me know!!!

  • love this bike man! Stock what did you think of the 48?

  • @dooku65

Thanks.Very nice bike stock also. The wide front tire is a nice addition to a sportster and makes it very stable in the turns. I bought this to have a new bike to modify and play with. I still have a few things to change like the seat ect. I also have an Ultra so thats my main ride for the long open road. The only problem with the 48 is the gas tank is small so long rides require more stops for fuel. Good Luck. Have fun if you get one.

  • @KWagner983 You might like the look of fat tires on a motorcycle but they DO NOT make them stable in a corner. For years and years Sporster, Triumph, BSA ect. used 4.00 x 18 rear and 3.50 x 19 front and they handled great. I replaced a 4.00 x 18 years ago with a Hog wheel and it ruined the handling of a good bike. BUt all the know nothings said i like the way that looks so in 1979 Harley gave it to them. To hell with handling

  • @MrJimmy1437 Owning a metric POS is a boring life style and soon you'll find yourself bashing other people rides - Shame on you!

  • @themaxrlder What does POS mean? I though when i bought a motorcycle, that i was buying transportation, not a life style, a look, a painting, an art form or a penis extender!

  • @MrJimmy1437 Very obvious owning anythng other than a Harley is boring - This explains why you watch NOTHING but Harley videos.

  • @themaxrlder If you want to go after the enemy, you go where he is! Damn it's bad enough to go to a bike meet and listen to those asshole Harley riders stand around and tell each other how wonderful they are! Years ago they couldn't get away with that shit because the Triumph, BSA, Norton guys would put them in their place. Now we are so outnumbered we just have to ignore them or leave

  • @MrJimmy1437 What does it mean when someone rides a V-Max and a FJR 1300

spends all thier time watching Harley videos?

You know owning those japcan is boring - The videos and "lifestyle" are boring .

Harley has it ALL! or you would not be here on a Harley videos DUH!

  • @MrJimmy1437 Why aren't you using the "themaxrider" username any more - Hiding behind this one how...Fucking WEIRD!

  • @themaxrlder i never used the themax rider, your confused

  • @themaxrlder I wrote a poem for Indian Larry, I wish there was room for it here.

Indian Larry is Oh so dead

He fell on his stupid Head

The road was oh so hard

A fitting end to a biker Retard

Billy Lane is filled with tears

    When the judge said

    Felony DWI

    Prison for six years

  • Bad ass! Thanks for sharing.

  • what bars did you put on there?

  • @rhinodog

Standard drag bars from Brians Harley Davidson. I think they are 32".

  • ...def bad to the bone

  • @rjb3638

    thanks

  • What is the rear tire size?

  • @germani222

    Rim is a 16X5.5

    Tire is a 16x180

  • @KWagner983 Where in hell did my comments go?

  • It looks fantastic, very nice what you have done, only one comment - after all that work and you kept the same foot pegs? I dont want to mod mine too much, just some paint but the main thing is to change the pegs as I think they look very cheap stock.

  • oh man oh god oh man oh god oh man oh god

  • sounds great. Looks nice, too...

  • @kwagner983 Very nice bike thank you for somebody finally changing that stupid belt drive to chain

  • hey man nice ride, is that a stock 48 seat? also where did you get the chain conversion? i found one from led sled, doesn't look as beefy as yours though.. thanks -mike

  • @mdagosti

Thanks, Yes stock seat. Im going to change it over winter. I did get the chain conversion from my wife as a gift. She got it from Led Sled so its the same one your looking at. Everything else I got from Pen Jersey. Jack at Penn Jerseys may be able to get it for you cheaper than sleds. His number and e-mail is on my video.

  • Penn Jersey Cycles or you can also get it on E-Bay. Just search Sportster Tank Lift. They come in 1,2 and 3 inch lifts. Mine is a 2 inch lift.

  • hey where nice ride!! where can i get the tank lift from??

  • Thanks for all the great comments everyone..

  • @KWagner983 Harley riders can't take the heat. Now there removing everything that says there no all wonderful

  • @MrJimmy1437 How is it that you can e-mail me but when i reply the e-mail is rejected?

  • @MrJimmy1437

I have no idea why any e-mails to me would be rejected. I understand you dont like this bike, thats fine, we all have different rides we like and dont like. My question for you is, If you dont like the bike, why do you keep coming back to my video.

  • @KWagner983 I keep returning to these sites as a protest. When about twenty years ago the majority of american riders decided that they no longer wanted performance bikes, but want garage candy. Bikes that are totally impractical for anything but looking at! I have set back in dismay, and watch smooth, fast four cyclinder bikes collect dust in the showroom, while antique v twins fly out the door

  • @MrJimmy1437

I know what you mean. I used to love twisting the throttle on a nice 4 cyl race bike. Im just too old for that now and I never was any good at it so why kill myself. I know my limits at my age. Now I really ride the touring baggers. This bike was just something I wanted to do to keep busy and I always wanted a bobber. I also have an 08 Ultra for the road. I only ride this one around town. It was much cheaper to build than a fat tire chopper or a 69 pro street camaro.

  • @KWagner983 The quality of the workmanship looks very good. I have a yamaha fjr 1300 for high speed touring and a v-max for goofing around. I think it would be fun to restore a 68-69 Triumph Bonneville. Perhaps i could recapture some of my misspent youth

  • @MrJimmy1437

Nice. Thanks. I always wanted a V-Max. Never had the chance to buy or even ride one but they always turned my head when one went by. Funny you say that about the Triumph. If I find one at a good price Im looking to build one as my next project.I just have to make the room to build it. I see a ton of nice ones at the shows around town, but Im looking for one that needs a good factory stock re-build.

  • man that is one of the nicest bikes on youtube

  • Nice.. I have an '11 "48".. stock right now..

  • what the fcking nice bike :D

  • this is sick, I am building a sporty, I hope mine is 1/2 as nice

  • @jevanofnoctech1

Thanks. Good building. Im sure yours will be just as nice.

  • @jevanofnoctech1

    Thanks. Good Luck.

  • @jevanofnoctech1

    Thanks. Good Luck with yours

  • Beautiful machine..

  • I HOPE HARLEY IS LISTENING!!!!!

And oh yeah...make sure it's cheap....

  • I HOPE HARLEY IS LISTENING!!!!!

  • martinbros two downs in black killerpipes but not available anywhere, tried everywhere wanna sell yours...;)

  • @finn260208

Sorry no. Did you try my guy listed on the video. If not, give him a call. He tracked mine down.

  • @KWagner983 wrote em an email , no answer, i think nomore nowhere ;( searched everything and everybody, .....i think they produced just 2pairs , one for the show and yours.............found just a pair of chrome but i want that blaccccckkkkkkkkkkk!!!

  • @finn260208

I think Martin Bros went out of business so if you really want these pipes, I would buy the chrome ones and have them ceramic coated black. Good Luck.

  • what kind of handle bars are they

  • @ramrodnj

Harley Davidson drag bars from the local dealer

  • yeah! rock on! :D

  • @jimmysubsea

Thanks, Ignition leads are still stock. Watch my "How To" Video..

  • SICK!!!

  • A stock 48 looks better. You fucked up... Bro, some cafe SHIT now. Lame and uncomfortable

  • Beautiful, always loved this low sleek look. Now i know what kind of bike i want looks amazing and it sounds like a beast, bravo to those who helped creating this piece of art.

  • Hey, great bike! how much did it cost to get from standard to that evil monster?

cos i think i need one! even though the missis is gonna kill me......she'll get over it

  • @deanhps

I never figured out the cost but I would guess between 2 and 3 grand. You would have to call Jack at Penn Jersey for a price on the parts. It depends on the year of your bike.

  • HOWS THE RELOCATE KIT.. EASY?? WORK GOOD??

  • Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks awsome! well done.

  • Very Nice! What brand bars did you go with?

  • @finn260208

Its a Martin Bros Two Down exhaust.

  • @finn260208

Exhaust is Martin Bros, Two Down series..

  • This question has maybe already asked to you > Where did you buy your turn signals ? Online, in a shop... ? Thanks a lot and congratulations for your bike !

  • @EdPSkult

Both front and rear turnsignals are stock. I just removed the extention arms on the rear ones and Im about to do the same to the front signals also.Just waiting for them to come back from powder coating.

  • @KWagner983

    Nice work indeed !

It's seems there are a kind of cap on the turnsignals, are there original ones did you add it yourself ?

    Thanks

  • @EdPSkult

They are the original turnsignals. HD sells a visor kit that changes the look. They're not too expensive and very easy to install. They just snap on.

  • @KWagner983

Thanks a lot and greetings from France !!!

  • this is by far the nicest 48 i've seen on youtube. good work.

  • very nice bike

  • what changes with the chain instead of the belt? the bike is faster?

  • @cubo714 No, you need to convert to a chain so the wide tire will fit. The belt is to wide for a larger tire..

  • @KWagner983 your bike is a sample of good taste my congratulations...the only thing..please change the seat!

  • @cubo714 Yes, I agree. I am going to have the seat done in leather just not sure what I want to do with it yet. I was going to go with an all steel, black seat but we'll see. I got tired of working on it and wanted to ride it for awhile before any more changes Thanks.

  • @KWagner983 did you made the tanklift?

  • @cubo714 I bought the tank lift from E-bay. Search (sportster tank lift). They have lifts in 3 sizes. Mine is the 2"

  • Awesome looking 48, how did you guys do the rear wheel? You mentioned that it is a 5" rear on the stock swing arm, really like to know how it all works...............looks F#$KING amazing!!

  • @Mr79Sanchez

Thanks. Check out my video "how To" Under my user name...

  • Dude your bike is a kick-ass monster looking machine. i thought my 48 is enough - let the project begins :).

  • Nice!

  • Sweet bike dude... Nicely done!

  • Thanks for all the great coments.

  • Félicitations cet harley est magnifique!!

  • Dude, that rocks!

  • You be proud... that is a bad ass sled! ride safe!

  • Very Nice!

  • Thanks for the part # for the handlebar clamp. Got it and installed. Fits and looks awesome....u the man ...

  • Thanks. I'm am thing about converting it from Fuel Injection to a carb but it looks like it would be a total re-wire of the bike so it will probably stay this way.

  • I love it only one minor , i love the carburator sound of the older sportster ,

Its a amazing looking bike concratzzzz

    many greetz from Belgium

    chuckie !!!

  • Thanks to everyone for the great reply's. It does look pretty sick...I love the way it turned out. Now Im adding an oil pressure gauge to the front cyl to give it an old school look.

  • No it didnt hit the caps. I did have to re-route the brake line a bit to keep it from crimping. Also the master cyl is tight but it fits fine.

  • Did you have to adjust anything to get that drag bar to fit without striking the fork top caps?

  • Dude, that bike is SICK, well done!! Thanks for sharing.

  • I used a handlebar clamp from an older Harley. You can use the Harley Davidson part # 56115-95. Its a new clamp and runs about $40 from Harley Davidson.

  • Bike looks awesome..where did u get the handlebar clamps? I'm looking to relocate my speedo ..thanks

  • awesome bob. i'm looking for a 48 at the moment. this makes me want one even more. sweet as :)
