@beergut111 Not a single fuck was given either that day or now. During WWII, the pilots coming into that part of California went under the bridge just for the hell of it. It was fun, and nobody had to shut the goddamned traffic down. The closest anyone has come to hitting that bridge so far is when the Queen Mary 2 just barely missed it with her funnel.

@TheRaveClinic yeah i'm kinda surprised that is legal too. With all the rules & regulations the FAA has, I would think that this would only be allowed during air shows. But it would def be a blast to do it. That's for sure.

@TheRaveClinic Flying under bridges is not illegal if you have the clearance. An SH-60, flying under VFR rules, flew under the Bay Bridge just last week during Fleet Week.

I've done this 2 times on the helicopter tours in SFO. The 1st time the pilot just did it and I was in total amazement! A year later I did the helicopter tour again and the pilot didn't do it, and we were already on our way back. I asked "Aren't we going to fly over and under the bridge?" and he replied: "Did you want to do that? Sure!" He turned around did it. Wow! It was more intense the 2nd time because we went from under & made a hard rise and flew over the tower. Super Fun!

it is legal.. a helicopter tour operator flys under it almost daily and its quite dangerous. I am out under the bridge a lot and some day someone is going to get killed.
