  • great. luv how he sang to lol <3

  • Nice rendition of it. I love this song. :)

  • The Yellow Rose of TeXas was written for a biracial woman. She was an indentured servant who was set free after the war. At that time biracials were referred to as high yellow [i don't know why].The phrase "prettiest rose of color"is the original words of this song.Yellow Rose was not about the color of a flower, but a biracial woman he was in love with.

  • Wrong..the story about Emily West is incorrect read..2001: A Texas Folklore Odyssey (University of North Texas Press), reveals that the song was in fact printed as sheet music in 1858 by Firth, Pond, and Co. of New York City and is credited to a mysterious "J.K...The Emily west story is just popular folklore no basis in fact.

  • Half the songs accredited to certain people are stolen from others. What you say may be true, but who is to say that it's true just because it's in print!

  • I bet yer not even from Texss. Sounds to these old ears like yer from Noo York City. Silvertone? More like Coppertone to these ears. Just take your filiibidee floo frou frou folk and mosey along now.

  • sorry joannamay i'm wiv the others thats just the way it is sweetheart! by the way csacavalrytx cheers!!!

  • texasın amına koyim

  • It's not polished, but it's heart felt. This native Texan, whose family came here in the 1840s, likes it.

  • TEXas -- TEXas .... Yeee Haw!!!

    \m/

  • Man im not from Texas, Im from West Virginia, you do the best at singin this song..i like it very much..u make it an awesome song...i think Texas and West Virginia share some common ground

  • hey man i have a 53 kay guitar just like that

  • "This song is called the yellow rose of Texas"

    No, no its not.

  • terrible. there's nothing left of the song. and my cat wails better.

better luck with your next job.

  • im a texan and i sorry but you did it wrong but i lked it ou kinda made it like rock.

  • Good Job. Its up to people like us to take traditional music into the future

  • there's no need for tradionial music to be "taken to the future." it's good just how it is. old time and traditional country are wonderful styles of music that are beautiful and heartfelt and at their best when not fucked with.

and don't think this is some old timer from kentucky saying this, i'm a 21 year old liberal from oregon. Music deserves to be treated with respect.

  • This is the melody that was written for Yellow Rose Of Texas in the 1800s. You think Rusty has changed the song but he has not. The version YOU think is Traditional is actually some pop music from the 1950s. Thats right, You like the version that as you put it has been "f*cked with".

And as for the old timer comment, Nope I knew you were a stupid kid from your lack of musical knowledge and your rush to judge a song you know nothing about. This is the information age and you have none.

  • wow. No, actually, i appreciate music in it's original form. there's no way that's how this song was preformed in the 1800's.

And who are you to call me a stupid kid? you have no idea how much i may know about traditional music, which is what i play.

have fun being a jerk, cause that's all you'll ever be.

  • has this kid ever heard of Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys? this is how the song was originally written, in Texas, in the 1800s.

how is it hard to understand that this is the way its truly supposed to be played?

  • look, i'm not disputing the orinins of the song, i just don't like that people feel the need to update traditional music. I love music in it's original form, and rocked out isn't it.

this is not about when the song was written, it's about a difference of opinion on musical traditions.

  • Wrong... This is the "Toooooo much information age" . Way too much.

  • very nice 5*

  • nice job dude!!

i love this song!! 5 stars!!!! XD
