i bred my housecat with a siberain albino tiger from the local zoo. the kittens are expected to turn out about 100 lbs in size full grown with same markings as regular tigers. they have a 50% chance to be albino too.
This clip actually fascinates me as an animator as well as a cat person. Thanks for the slow-motion replays - cats are so beautiful in motion. It really surprised me that for that last big jump, he hardly crouched down to prepare for it at all - just fired those big back legs!

That's a swell cat, he has a good attitude about him. Even when he was panting a bit at around 2:00 and 2:40, he was still happy and playful, so no worries. He seems to be well loved!

Yes!! Mo's 7' jump was at the beginning of the segment on Savannahs in the first episode and they had additional footage from this vid of him jumping in the living room in the second episode. The show's producer contacted me a few months ago asking if they could use the footage, so I sent him a tape with it. Very cool to actually see it on TV. :)

If I were a bird or a mouse, I'd be terrified. Seriously, Mo is an incredibly gentle cat. He's really afraid of people with the exception of myself and 1 other person he knows. The *instant* he hears a stranger's voice in the house, he'll run into my bedroom and crawl under the bed covers to "hide" (SO funny to walk in and see the huge lump in the bed :)
Aw both of them are gorgeous. It's so cool that he can make 7 feet. My most athletic cat can get like 4 feet tops, and that's only if he really wants to. :P
Yeah, he actually gets winded like that after only a couple minutes of playing - This video was shot over about 3-4 play sessions. I think SVs (and servals), are somewhat similar to cheetahs in that they have a very muscular, yet thin/light build and are *extremely* fast (or high-jumping), for relatively brief periods of time before they need to rest. I know that cheetahs can actually suffer brain damage if they don't rest + pant to cool down after a hard chase.
Congrats!! :) I think the whole jumping thing really depends on the individual animal. Gamba (my F5), is built like a tank and he's crazy-fast, but he's lucky if he gets his rear legs more than 2 feet off the ground when he jumps. My F2 SV, Tigger, was built very similarly to Gamba (only bigger), and he didn't like jumping at all. Servals are *crazy* jumpers, though, so high % SV's (F1-F3's) are typically big jumpers, too.
Then again, I've personally seen completely domestic cats that could easily jump 5+ feet, so they definitely don't need to be hybrids to have insane jumping abilities!
LOL! Nah, Mo would never hurt anyone - not intentionally, at least. He does have his claws (I'm against de-clawing), so playing with him with a hand-held toy can (and has), resulted in some nasty scratches, but that's all. He actually keeps his claws completely retracted when he grabs my feet when I'm wearing socks (which he likes doing for some reason) - He's *surprisingly* gentle.
I'm thinking about getting an f3 or f4 Savannah because they say that they're more lap-cats. But man, They sure do cost a lot! Whew! Have to save up. :) Don't know if it'd get along with my two other cats, though. xD

I'm thinking about getting an f3 or f4 Savannah because they say that they're more lap-cats. But man, They sure do cost a lot! Whew! Have to save up. :) Don't know if it'd get along with my two other cats, though. xD
