World War II created the world we live in now. Sure it was a horrible tragedy, but it's something we can learn from so the mistakes that were made won't be made again and in that sense, it was a good thing. It was a wake up call.

Rudolf Hoss, after his arrest, wrote what he did while in captivity to pass the time. He mentioned the woman asking how they could kill her children, therefore, admitting it. Fascist: Mediterranean totalitarian government, state holds most industry, the culture of the people is worshiped

Liberal: democracy, rights, capitalism, free market
Democrat: large number of people in the state have political power

im just wondering if that Serb didn't shoot the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, then WWI would never of happend then there would be no motive for Hitler to try and take power and no real motive for the German people to listen to him and try and rebuilt germany's troubles coz Germany would not of suffered from a Total war. So its really that Serb who should be blacklisted for being responsible for the deaths of millions from WWI & WWII

I know it was brutal and horrific, but it brough the world to where it is today. I feel we would've been in a worse of state today had there not been any wars

@broadcastbeefy You know, things are really not that black & white....even if Gavrilo Princip hadnt assassinated Franz Ferdinand, the war would have most likely errupted anyways....there was lot of tention between the countries Europe, and lot of "unfinished business" from earlier wars....in fact many were anxious about the war, everyone believed that if/when the war came it would be a short war,everyone believed thatbecause of new, more powerfull weaponry,the conflict would be solved quickly

Hope for victory was gone, but still brave German soldiers keep fighting in Berlin and it was surrounded no way out, I cant believe it, how somebody can be so loyal to somebody.

@fourwayscottage Yes, but look at the state of England now, Great Britain is a mere shadow of what it was, and at the rate of occupation, English people will be a minority in the coming years. In their very own lands. Very sad. This is what Germany was fighting for, they didn't even want a war with England, your leaders declared war on Germany first. Rudolf Hess flew to Scotland to broker a last minute peace talk, and he was imprisoned for life for trying to make peace.

@robertborak Rudolf hess was a man who committed mass murder and felt no remorse. A jewish woman once asked him as her and her 3 children walked towards a gas chamber, "How can you kill such beautiful children?"
And he sat there and watched as 3 toddlers walked to their death. What about the other millions of children he watched die? Rudolf hess did not deserve a chance for peace. A life for a life is fair maybe, a life for a million lives isnt. He deserved to be tortured.

The German's never killed any toddlers. Don't be so bloody naive. These horrific stories are propogated to illict anger and disrupt rational discussion concerning the war.
The exact same strategy is used in conflicts today, and people like you continue to eat it all up.

@robertborak My mistake on confusing the two. As for the Nazi's never killing any children, I think you are the naive one on that point. Rudolf Hoss, after his arrest, wrote what he did while in captivity to pass the time. He mentioned the woman asking how they could kill her children, therefore, admitting it. If you can still somehow pretend that these things didnt happen despite eyewitness testimony from both Jews and Germans, then you my friend are something else.

@slednecks17 The evidence used against the Germans is purely circumstantial, and wouldn't hold up in any court of law today.
The abuse and coerced confessions of German POW's has been well documented, as you yourself stated with Höss.
Again, those confessions would never see the light of day in any proper court. But they were acceptable during the kangaroo court that were the farcicle Nuremburg Trials.
