I actually saw The departed first to be honest. I never even heard of Infernal Affairs until the departed came out. See I saw the departed only because it won best picture and I expected alot out of it. Was I satisfied yes but not completly. Then when I heard it was a remake I saw the original and I liked it alot better.

What the departed was always missing for me is basically The HEART of a movie(if you know what I mean. So in all Infernal affairs is better in my opinion.

Well Okay everyone has their own opinion. I simply wanted to state that I liked the original better. I mean I saw this movie thinking it'd be awesome. I found it good but thought it was missing something(a heart basically better character developement and a bit more emotionally based sort of like the godfather but not too much) This movie didn't do that for me it felt like a cool thriller but not really best picture material for me

if english is your first language you'd understand that the departed had the kind of dialogues which is better than 90% of the movies that have been released up until today.this is a scorcese movie where acting/memorable dialogues take over aspects like plot etc which frankly would burn down after the first viewing.To put it short,a movie like infernal affair would seem less impressive with repeated viewings while the departed would get more and more enjoyable with repeated viewings.
