Hey I found this really cool, but I was wondering still... I have a pair of earbuds that have a mic connected in them, I wanted to use them on my computer but they don't work :( Do you have any idea on how to do this? Plz reply!
Would love to do this, and been thinking about it for a long while now. The only thing I haven't got is that input jack component. Know where I can get hold of one in the UK?
@WillBourne999 Not sure but if you have any electronics store they might have one. Not consumer electronics but like a parts store. We have radio shack here, not sure what it would be there.
@FranksTechHelp Thanks, and yeah it is rather annoying to not have Radio Shack over here. I think I may well have to take something else apart to find the part haha. It's a really simple mod though, thank you very much for just confirming it can be done. Can't wait to use my rather nice Sennheisers for what they're made for!
@designwell1 It's called "Another Day" by The NISH Project, my solo band project. You can download it for free if you visit my channel and click on The NISH Project link to Reverb Nation. It's my gift to my viewers.
@RockieFilms That's the purpose of this mod, I cut up a cheap pair of iPod headphones in order to better use my $110 pair of Shure headphones, which I did not want to cut up. Hope that makes sense.
@SuperBmxbadass *LMAO* Yeah that's funny, Half the guys at work carry these for e-shrinking wires and they get the same reaction. I assure you I've never touched crack in my life. I get high on gadgets not crack. But it's still funny whenever someone mentions that. I hope you aren't posting from personal experience, say it ain't so!... Crack kills homey!
@noamchoco You would have to crack the control box further down the cable and solder a female connector for your mic input. I don't have my Touch anymore so can't do a video, if you try it tho shoot a video and post it!
The stock ear plugs do not fit my ear properly, they fall out as soon as I put them in. Not many people have this problem but a few of us do. This is simply a solution to allow me to use any headphones and keep the functionality of the volume and mic controls. It's not for everyone, just us folk who have odd shaped ears.

Can I use any mic too?
Luka1180 9 months ago
@Luka1180 Probably not, you would have to wire the mic part and then amp it for input.
FranksTechHelp 8 months ago
@FranksTechHelp I mena an external one. Couldn't you make a guide for that too? Please? But with a warning ofc.

@FranksTechHelp
Thanks, found it :)
I'll buy simple connector, female>male
and I'll cut it in the middle and solder the female to the place where the mic was,
I hope it'll work.

I´ve got one question:
You cut a few cables in 1:27 and your comment is:
The Red and Green Stripe with White in the Center is Mic/Ground. I cut it off since I am not using it:
Does the Microphone and the control work after this mod?
But: really nice Video!!

@hugodeisenhofer Yes it still works.
