@ bjtallday...Yes, you have to call 'push' and you can only use the push out directly after a break. It's the only time in 9 ball that you can hit ball out of sequence legally. :)

@bjtallday Push shots are only allowed on the break and the other player can push back (by not shooting), so the original player is forced to take the shot they shot the first time.

I like the new rules addition, of alternating breaks and putting the rack centered on the nine on the spot; takes a lot of the luck factor out and really separates the top players from one another IMHO.

What a great match :) Mika played so well in this tournament, and then won it again in 2009! Only the second player to win consecutive US Open titles, after Nick Varner. And even more impressive was the fact that Mika lost an early match, maybe his third I'm not sure, and then he fought his way to the final by winning 14 matches in a row! Unbelievable! I would love to see him win it again this year :D

BUT what I meant was that he's firstly rude and secondly he has no style. He's just efficient. He was lucky to win this one.

And in my opinion Alcano is just much better. But in a stupid tv-game like 9-ball there is no difference between the two.

Was the '3 balls past the headstring on the break rule' in effect during this U.S. Open? If it was, it could have made a world of difference if Alcano made a comment to the ref, the first time Mika broke too soft.

As all people have already said here, Immonen was just extremely lucky. Alcano is so smooth and so elegant. There is nothing elegant about Mika's game.

The best part of this final was Danny, gotta love him.

Why we don't hear about these things? Because noone cares about a few tournament results. It is the overall stats that count and noone knows how well he has done against philipo players.

but thats not the point. mika is an excellent and very successful player. But he surely does not have the knowledge Alcano has. An his style is not nearly as elegant.

But this will never show in 9-ball. They will be around 50/50 over time I guess. Let them play rotation and we can talk again.

But Skillwise and knowledgewise immonen is not even a kid compared to alcano. Even Efren said that he's probably his successor.
