i am one of those snipers that will sit in the building and take people out at the long ranges with my MSR, L118A, and Barrett. I choose to do this even though i think that i am a decent quickscoper but i like using snipers how they were meant to be used, long range not accurate shotguns
Sniping isnt based off of quickscoping,no-scoping, or trickshooting it's based off of accuracy because if you the hardscope to the kill also if you hardscope fast that good skill right there because then those fast hardscope will turn into quickscope so yeah my opinion of sniping

i have 2 brothers in the marines and i know that snipers arent always about sitting on hills or building tops for days until the target shows up. there are snipers whos job is to "run and gun", called counter snipers. say a unit of men are trying to move through some urban iraq setting and get pinned down by a couple of enemy snipers. counter sniper pops out from behind a wall an bang tango down. no waiting, no being steathy, just quick and effective. so slowburn is "sniping" just much as anyone
@YaKunguru I have heard storys of snipers actually hunting humans like we hunt animals. You have to be in top shape to track targets threw some rough landscapes. In other words being a real sniper is a very demanding task.

@thegrizzly52 I have 2 savage rifles one in .17 HMR and a 7MM rem mag. The 7MM is a beast, and is very accurate to 600 yrds, thats as far as i have shot it, no doubt it is capable of 1000 yrd accuracy, that is am i cabable of placing a shot that far lol. My brother just got a savage 12 guage bolt action slug gun, and it groups better than some rifles at 100 yrds. I would recomend a savage nice rifles, they got just about any style rifle you want, even a .338 lapua magnum sniper.

This game is booring as fuck. There is nothing new in MW3. My reaction on MW3 was "ooo maybe they add something new to multi" after 5 days i said "fuck only new weapons and maps cod sucks as fuck. @hcn15fin no it isn't, have you at all done actuall sniping study, the have a sniping show on discovery chanell and there are no quickscop rewards. You could snipe with an m16. using a sniper rifle doesn't mean you're a sniper, it just means you have a sniper rifle in your hand
My opinion of sniping (and this isn't for MW3, just generally games in which you can snipe) is, as you said, supporting your team from a distance, picking off enemies and informing friendlies of any inbound hostiles. However, you can't really do this in all games (like in MW3, but I'm not saying that's a bad thing), so just generally getting guys in your sights and pulling the trigger.

the sniper hitmarker piss me off so much!!!!!. a 50cal being shot near you could kill or hurt you. depending. and some how i get a hitmarker to the chest? the ballistic vest should even save a person from a 50cal. obviously that would be too powerful because of the speed mw3 allows but i think the sniping speed in black ops was perfect except hit detection. also the steady crosshairs missing from a foot away with no room for the bullet to go somewhere else is absolute crap.
I agree with BTRSlowburn that in MW3 there aren't really any long range maps where you can snipe they are all medium to short range battles but as long as you can "hold your quarters" as foderson said i don't think it matter how you snipe. I'm not that great of a sniper but when i'm in the mood and i'm doing good i feel like i kinda camp in one area more than i move around, but if i am camping i'm usually holding down a high traffic area like around corners and such and other places where ppl
@moonsiths travel alot so that they can get to an objective faster or something like that so in that case i am camping but i'm holding down a position and calling things out for my teammates so i'm helping them as well.
in real life sniping is when someone is trying to kill a guys from long ranged with one bullet while supporting the team, games don't ever really give a chance to be a real sniper. The only game that i know of that goes anywhere near real sniping is Sniper Ghost Warrior.

Sniping in real life is technical and complicated. You sit in a spot, wait for your target(s) and take them out as efficiently as possible. In video games sniping can be anything the player wants it to be. Stop bitching about slow burn's gameplay.
Sniping is using a sniper rifle. It does not matter whether you run around or hold a position. As long as in the end you burry a bullet down the enemy's throat then you are sniping.
i think that if you are using a "SNIPER" rifle then you are "SNIPING" it is kind of in the name. stay in one building or run about, it's still sniping. if you want games where the sniper can stay in one place and play very well then the likes of battlefield is for you. stop hating and just enjoy quality entertainment.

You're sniping, and you're doing it really well. Sniping is effectively killing people with one shots, not jumping off of a roof and spinning 1080 degrees.
That was kind of a different situation, though. Wings put the challenge to Overtflow to get a MOAB with the Scout Sniper kit. He was playing a FFA, where the only objective is to get 30 kills so it's not like he was killwhoring for no reason, and I'm a decent player, but I don't think I could get a MOAB with that kit without camping for it. I agree there's far more exciting watches out there, but what Wings requested from him kind of required that style of gameplay. And he stepped up to it!

@thegrizzly52 I have 2 savage rifles one in .17 HMR and a 7MM rem mag. The 7MM is a beast, and is very accurate to 600 yrds, thats as far as i have shot it, no doubt it is capable of 1000 yrd accuracy, that is am i cabable of placing a shot that far lol. My brother just got a savage 12 guage bolt action slug gun, and it groups better than some rifles at 100 yrds. I would recomend a savage nice rifles, they got just about any style rifle you want, even a .338 lapua magnum sniper.

@thegrizzly52 Thats a classic rifle, never sell it!! I have been shooting .243 .270 for years, so i decided to step up to a .284 cal 7MM. Now i want a nother dragon slayer .338 or .300 ultra mag lol. They have some nice varmint rifles for not a whole lot of money also, and cheaper to shoot.

This game is booring as fuck. There is nothing new in MW3. My reaction on MW3 was "ooo maybe they add something new to multi" after 5 days i said "fuck only new weapons and maps cod sucks as fuck. Call of Duty is just like counter strike Peopel are runing like wild pigs and do nothing interesting but shoting. Battlefield3 is much more better than this shit. My opinion of sniping (and this isn't for MW3, just generally games in which you can snipe) is, as you said, supporting your team from a distance, picking off enemies and informing friendlies of any inbound hostiles. However, you can't really do this in all games (like in MW3, but I'm not saying that's a bad thing), so just generally getting guys in your sights and pulling the trigger.

the sniper hitmarker piss me off so much!!!!!. a 50cal being shot near you could kill or hurt you. depending. and some how i get a hitmarker to the chest? the ballistic vest should even save a person from a 50cal. obviously that would be too powerful because of the speed mw3 allows but i think the sniping speed in black ops was perfect except hit detection. also the steady crosshairs missing from a foot away with no room for the bullet to go somewhere else is absolute crap.

I agree with BTRSlowburn that in MW3 there aren't really any long range maps where you can snipe they are all medium to short range battles but as long as you can "hold your quarters" as foderson said i don't think it matter how you snipe. I'm not that great of a sniper but when i'm in the mood and i'm doing good i feel like i kinda camp in one area more than i move around, but if i am camping i'm usually holding down a high traffic area like around corners and such and other places where ppl

in real life sniping is when someone is trying to kill a guys from long ranged with one bullet while supporting the team, games don't ever really give a chance to be a real sniper. The only game that i know of that goes anywhere near real sniping is Sniper Ghost Warrior.

In my opinion there really isn't a definition of "sniper" in a video game other than if your little man is carrying a sniper rifle in his class. The majority of 10 year olds will say you're not "sniping" right unless you are quick scoping. I don't give a fuck how you snipe. Sniping is all about securing your position, preventing the enemy from getting to the place you are protecting, like holding a bombsite or your allies. It doesn't matter the way you are going to "shoot" as long as you can hold your quarters.

That was kind of a different situation, though. Wings put the challenge to Overtflow to get a MOAB with the Scout Sniper kit. He was playing a FFA, where the only objective is to get 30 kills so it's not like he was killwhoring for no reason, and I'm a decent player, but I don't think I could get a MOAB with that kit without camping for it. I agree there's far more exciting watches out there, but what Wings requested from him kind of required that style of gameplay. And he stepped up to it!
