Thanks for posting this! Adding it to my mp3 swipe file. :) No way in heck you can listen to this song without getting chicken necked and tapping both feet.
Anyone know if Perez works anywhere other than manning the controls for SupertalkMS these days?
Thank you or posting this! I used to hear this all the time on ZZQ growing up. Back when a radio station was run by people and the DJs...not the marketing department.
All of Paul Davis' works can now be purchased on CD. This is a magnificent track and it is hard for me to think of a better singer songwriter. i.e. An artist who writes and sings equally well. Agreed?
I've been looking for this song but didn't know the name of it. This really takes me back..... thanks for the song Patrick ! Gotta go check out that marijuana pill..... lol!
RIP Paul Davis! The man was talented, no doubt. I grew up in a town about 5 minutes away from SoSo. This song was played all the time when I was growing up and we loved it! Thanks for posting this.... brings back a lot of good memories of home.
I guess I got lucky. This song was released only two years after I was born, yet somehow I had a copy of it when I was maybe 8 years old. The B-Side was "Superstar". Or maybe this was the B-Side to "Superstar", which is more likely. Anyhow, the lucky part is--I grew up in Ohio. How a 45 single got from Jackson, Mississippi to my little hands south of Cleveland is beyond me, but I am grateful that it did. They just don't make music like this... One in a million. Many thanks for sharing it.
Lol....I reeeeealyy like this song. A sister posted this to my facebook wall. She lives in Soso. Woohoo....really like it. Thanks for posting this Patrick!

OH MY GOSH. I have not heard this song in years and years, probably since the 70s or 80s, when I first left Jackson. I used to love this song so much, and the funny thing is, when I heard the first beat, I IMMEDIATELY knew the words and started talking and then singing them. Thanks for a WONDERFUL blast from the past and my youth.
yep! u say that it was mainly played in MISSISSIPPI---UBETCHA!!!!! wahoooo! and i was one of the disc jockies PLAYING IT! he's a great friend of mine (cannot talk about him in the past tense.....no way!) i asked him about "SoSo MS and he died laughin in my interview---we always did interviews from then on about it!I LOVE THIS SONG!
Wow. Every once in a while, a song reappears that I had once loved but over the last 30 years had faded from my memory. This one was great on ZZQ. But they would also play Mac McAnally. It reminds me of "In The City" by Stevie Wonder. "..I was born, in Hard Times Miss-i-sip-i..."
Awesome, thanks for posting this. I used to have it on mp3 but lost it when my computer died without backup. Been looking for it ever since, now the search is over!
HAHAHA!!! I am enchanted with this song!! I'm 52 years old and I never heard this one. I love the artist and I'm sorry I hadn't heard it before this! Thanks for sharing it!
OH! Thank you for posting this song - I looked for it here a couple of years ago and couldn't find it - just thought I'd give it one more try today and I'm so glad I did! I love this song!!! Maybe I could help you out with some pics of MS (even from Soso) if you ever decide to add some. :-))
thanks for this i have looking 4 it 4 awhile there not abetter song for the sunmer on a sunday long live memories of wzzq . hats off to peter christian and mike bridges 4 stlll playing it and all fhe other classic cuts. they keep the good old times going
Big hit on WZZQ in the 70's. Never on CD. David Adcock of Z106 and later WTYX Jackson found a vinyl and started playing it on his sunday show. Stations rarely play request anymore and are run by computers so you have to wait for it on an oldie show. WSTZ 106 Jackson still plays it and Rock 104 hattisburg also. found this for $1 at a junk store. Been looking for this song for ages.
I've been searching this song forever! Thanks for posting it. Brings back alot of ZZQ memories! I'm in Atlanta now & no station here has ever heard of this song. BTW, ZZQ has a cool Facebook page called ZZQ Truth. Lots of cool links & videos, plus they have ZZQ T-shirts available for ordering.
I remember them playing it on Rock 104 (grew up in Laurel, MS) . I worked in a record store while going to college, and the DJ who played it came in one time, and told me that he played it from an LP he had. This was after the LP format had died too.
@patrick9648 yeah i hear it on rock 104 every once in a while. this is one of my mom's favorite songs from back in the day. they used to laugh when they heard the first and last part. man i wish i lived back then.
I love this song! It reminds me of my teen years, WZZQ radio station, and waiting on this to come on. The only other station that I have heard it on now is Jack FM in Jackson, Mississippi. Paul, you are truly missed !
Thank you so much for posting this. I moved away and never realized that this only gets played down home. I've been looking forever and didn't want to shell out 100 bucks for the turntable and album just to hear it. Rock on!
when I get around to it, I may make it into a slide show of things around Mississippi on. I searched all over the net and noticed you couldn't find the song so I figured someone might want to hear my old copy. maybe they won't delete it since its out of print.
I too am from Jackson. Go Murrah Mustangs 1968. Thanks for the memories...
