  • This was really helpful and innovative. I appreciate the work you put into this video, thank you so much! Really brilliant!

  • Uhhhh, do you need the tracing paper?

  • ...i like the video, it´s great-and so is the music...what is it? Thanx.

  • SUPER SMART...super vid! thanks so much!

  • This seemed fairly useful for someone who is needing a cheap and easy to assemble lightbox! Better than spending tons on one!! Thanks :D

  • my question is, how would I customize this to fit my lit kit. it has umbrella but i wanna try this method first. what materials should i use for everyday use?

  • This is great, thanks!! Gonna save me a fortune!

  • What can you do, with a light box?

  • I have to watch it over again, I lost focus listening to that gorgeous voice and accent!

  • Can you explain us why there has to be a tracing paper between the glasses? What would happen if we used just a clear glass?

  • @gusmanfreeman Thanks for the question Gusmanfreeman. The tracing paper between the glass captures the light and spreads it evenly, it also helps to diffuse the light, making it less harsh. The tracing paper basically acts the same as frosted glass.

    Hope this helps.

  • This is good, lacking a few details but for the most part, great! What size pic. frame? what width? i've bought two pic frames but not sure if the backing will be sturdy enough.........u should specify if the backing you used was cardboard or WOOD.....and the SIZE in the frame!! and finding the "light switch" is more difficult than you think! just f.y.i.! lol. anyways if you'd make it a little MORE specific with your details it'd be perfect, besides that, it was GREAT! t.y. very much!!!! :-)

  • @lblueyedbabe Thanks heaps for the feedback, I used 2 A3 frames with a wood backing but the video is just a guidline, the materials are completely subjective. I know what you mean about finding a light, hehe. I was just lucky I had an old lamp lying around. Hope this helps.

  • is it stable enough to be working on daily? or should i buy some proper wood for the sides?

  • @MNSDaz Thanks for the question. I would definitely recommend buying some proper wood if you're using your light box daily. I upgraded mine to 3ply plywood and it's heaps sturdy. Hope this helps you out.

  • Thank you ...this is just what I need !! But, should you not be able to fasten the top to the bottom part of the box to hold it secure while you are tracing your project. I can see it moving around while I'm trying to trace a pattern onto a piece of paper. Any suggestions for that?

  • @Cindybug57 Thanks for your comment Cindybug57. It's really up to you on how you fasten the top to the base but I used an Australian product called Blu-Tack, search it on google. I hope this is a valid suggestion for you. Thanks

  • @RestlessColour Thank you !!

  • Nice video :)

"Keep it cool!" in the end was great :)

    Thanx man :)

  • Thanks mate. I'm making one of these.

  • dig the ambient score.

  • I like background music ,,,cool

  • thanks i just got threw makeing my light box and it works like a charm the only thing that i didnt have were the blocks but i used some thing else instead

  • how big where those frames

  • thanks man... loved it... need more from videos you

  • Nice one mate :O)

  • Thank you...That is so clear and simple!

  • what font did you use in the beginning?

  • Using the sides of the frame and two pieces of glass with tracing paper solved my "frosted glass" dilemma. I had a different idea for the base, but your video helped with the most important part, the surface to trace on. Thanks for the great video!

  • I'm always worries about the light burning the surface of either the table it's sitting on, the sides, or the glasstop itself. ;_; Is it safe?

  • @ethelglover Thanks for voicing your concerns, I avoid the lights contact with the table by putting it on a white ceramic plate, this also help's with reflecting the light. I've never had a problem with it burning the sides or the glass but I don't really use the lightbox for long periods of time, I also use an energy saving fluorescent globe which does'nt seem to heat up like the old ones. If you're heaps worried about the safety concern I would suggest buying one. Thanks.

  • Thank you soooo much!! I am new into stained glass and am struggling to buy tools etc. This vid saved me a few bucks! Thanks again!

  • Awesome man I was looking for a way to make a cheap light box and the sandwiching tracing paper is brilliant. Thanks for the tip but I'm gonna make a more low profile frame and put a led work light in it.

  • good video, great idea! i think if u cut the square wood dowels shorter (to accommodate for the thickness of the picture frame) the picture frame could sit into your box more securely.

  • @gary123hey That's a genius idea, more secure an also neater.

  • The song is very relaxing, I agree with the first comment. :) As is your voice! Very laid back.

    Thanks for the tips!

  • very long winded.

  • thanks so much for posting!!! your post and how to is the only one on you tube that really makes sense, i'm making one of these!!

  • song is so relaxing. whats the name of the song/artist?

  • @paskin36

Thanks heaps, I made the song for the clip, I record under the name Spacelungs, you can check it out, just google spacelungs I checked out some of your videos, the're heaps good. Keepitup

  • @RestlessColour I couldn't find them? :(

  • @MrMrG3AR What couldn't you find?

  • @paskin36 Check out spacelungs on my space, that's my ambient music project.

  • Thanks !!!!! so much!

  • thanks, I build one yesterday after watching your video. again thanks.

  • That was a clever way to make the top, I'm currently planning on building one and I thought of using white perspex, what do you think of that?

  • Great tutorial. Thank you. My hub made me the box. But what strength light bulb should you use, mine is a tube but not enough light?

  • Thanks for the feedback.

I use an 8w Light which is fine for my work but thicker paper and more detailed work require a higher wattage light. I'm not sure of the wattage of your light but you could give a 15w compact fluorescent light, let me know how you go.

  • @Minaretfm Thanks for the feedback.

  • Thank's heaps for all the support and positive feedback. To keep the globe from burning the table I place it on a white plate which also helps spread the light evenly.
