I'm 22 years old and had my first taste of cyberbullying for the past 2 days. I was best friends with this girl for a long time and I ended it. She started attacking me on my cell but I ignored it because i know she was trying to get a reaction. Then her Husband (who is 19) went on facebook and wrote nasty things about me on his wall post. I was like OK, this has gone far enough...this is not highschool anymore! So I got everyone involved to get him to delete it. I won't tolerate Bullying!

Bullies don't think about bullying until the victim commits suicide and then they feel like monsters. People need to always think. Why would you ruin someones life like that? They need to grow up and stop worrying about doing things other kids are doing, because no matter how many people do it, it's wrong. You can't sugar coat this issue. Many schools that are "zero tolerance" aren't actually, which is the sad part. "We take this issue very seriously!" is even worse. They don't care.

You have to be strong and forge ahead. Gosh, I thought being in h.s. was tough back in the 90's but today, wow I'd never want to relive those days again! It's almost like being in prison -you have to join a gang or a 'click' to survive. I was proud back then to be an out cast and a loner. To say "they don't commit suicide because of being bullied" is to release the bully of the consequences of their behavior. you'd better believe that bullying leads to suicide. that same youth who took their life after being bullied would never have thought to kill themselves if they had not been bullied. it's a direct correlation. and bullies need to feel the guilt when they drive someone to suicide. they need to open their eyes to the possibilities before they push it that far.

@laperamala That is so far from the truth. Some people are raised in incredibly loving families, and can simply shutdown when subjected to unknown and intimidating behaviours. It takes years to adapt, and some people don't make it. More than likely, the parents of bullies need to be reformed.

In a civilized society, you should not have to "beat the crap out of" anybody. That's why we have laws. Not everyone can be big and strong, and not everyone comes from a home background that builds self-esteem. And it shouldn't matter, because bullying is psychotic behavior that should not be tolerated. Bullies are criminals.
It's really tough advice that you're giving people, especially people who are at their core more sensitive and prone to negative self-imagery.

I was bullied when I was 13, quite bad, they would tell me to die and say I was worthless and everyone hated me. I had depression then, as I do now but I was stuck in the middle of everything and unable to see it for what it was, in a few years those people become so much smaller in your mind, you realize that they were nothing really, just ordinary children saying things to make their lives more interesting. I came through it and I look back and I am SO GLAD that I didnt do anything!

everyones been subjected to bullying... some much worse then others. Truth be told, im not sure how an end to this will become. Human beings are still animals, and with all of the hate, angst and hostility we've created through commercial marketing, its hard to overcome. Please don't allow these bullies to get to you. I was also bullied as a child until 7th grade...then I had enough and started standing up to them. As you get older, these people wont even matter in your life, and 90% of the time end up being losers that get no where in their own lives. I'm 30 now, and can tell you from experience that YOU CAN GET THROUGH IT...and when you look back on it, it's nothing that you should let get to you. Talk to someone, bring parents and teachers in on it if needed.

I'm 22 years old and had my first taste of cyberbullying for the past 2 days. I was best friends with this girl for a long time and I ended it. She started attacking me on my cell but I ignored it because i know she was trying to get a reaction. Then her Husband (who is 19) went on facebook and wrote nasty things about me on his wall post. I was like OK, this has gone far enough...this is not highschool anymore! So I got everyone involved to get him to delete it. I won't tolerate Bullying!

Bullies don't think about bullying until the victim commits suicide and then they feel like monsters. People need to always think. Why would you ruin someones life like that? They need to grow up and stop worrying about doing things other kids are doing, because no matter how many people do it, it's wrong. You can't sugar coat this issue. Many schools that are "zero tolerance" aren't actually, which is the sad part. "We take this issue very seriously!" is even worse. They don't care.

You have to be strong and forge ahead. Gosh, I thought being in h.s. was tough back in the 90's but today, wow I'd never want to relive those days again! It's almost like being in prison -you have to join a gang or a 'click' to survive. I was proud back then to be an out cast and a loner. I had to grow a tough exterior on the outside by showing no emotion, so no one could take advantage of me.

To say "they don't commit suicide because of being bullied" is to release the bully of the consequences of their behavior. you'd better believe that bullying leads to suicide. that same youth who took their life after being bullied would never have thought to kill themselves if they had not been bullied. it's a direct correlation. and bullies need to feel the guilt when they drive someone to suicide. they need to open their eyes to the possibilities before they push it that far.

@laperamala That is so far from the truth. Some people are raised in incredibly loving families, and can simply shutdown when subjected to unknown and intimidating behaviours. It takes years to adapt, and some people don't make it. More than likely, the parents of bullies need to be reformed.

Back to your original comment; I fully agree that they don't have the tools to cope but, that is contributed to by an endless list of factors. Bullying that leads to suicide, most often takes place during adolescence, a time where EVERYONE is full of self doubt. Compounded with intense attacks on one's self esteem.... I'm not offering excuses for those who have committed suicide, just trying to say it's not as black and white as you're putting it.

I survived but it was hard.
I´m still here now, and everything is over. But I can´t forget and I don´t know how to forgive.
I don´t know if that´s week or something, but I still can freak out about that whole situation. I am mad with me, why I didn´t stop that thing. I´m mad with the other, because no one helped me. Non of my friends stood up for me. I was alone. I don´t wish anyone to experience that feeling!

It's really tough advice that you're giving people, especially people who are at their core more sensitive and prone to negative self-imagery.
However, as hard as that advice is to hear, much less to follow, you're right. Even if you don't win, even if you get hurt, you have to show that you're not willing to be a target and that a bully will have their work cut out if they want to intimidate you.
I disagree with one thing, though: it is NOT easy to kill yourself. No way!

I was bullied when I was 13, quite bad, they would tell me to die and say I was worthless and everyone hated me. I had depression then, as I do now but I was stuck in the middle of everything and unable to see it for what it was, in a few years those people become so much smaller in your mind, you realize that they were nothing really, just ordinary children saying things to make their lives more interesting. I came through it and I look back and I am SO GLAD that I didnt do anything!

I agree with just about everybody. I was bullied so bad in middle school. I'm still in it but now I have like no friends and nobody wants to talk to me... I don't understand why, and even my teachers don't like me at least I think. And I have considered taking my life as well, but then I realized ther's more to me then what they see. I wish the people that killed themselves would have realized that before it was too late... =[

Oh yes,I have been bullied, as a matter of fact, I even considered suicide, until I realized how fuckin' stupid I was being. Face it you got people around the world who are starvin' to death, parents who molest their children, then this forced me to ask the question, what the hell am I so depressed about? What have I experienced that's so damn bad. Name calling, not getting invited to a party. pfft. I have a home, I get to eat three times a day, go to sleep in a warm bed.
