after watching this and thinking about Ridley Scott as a director he is good and has made some good movies Alien and Blade goes without saying as being his two best movies overall, I think American Gangster would've been considered tops with other gangsta/crime movies if another director was behind it, and i have to say also that i Think Tony Scott is better then him and has better directed movies when going down the list.
Scott has a great visual sense but doesn't know how to put a story together. I suspect Alien and Blade Runner benefited from the input of others on editing etc. because most of his films recently are a mess in terms of story coherence, culminating in Robin Hood, which was utterly nonsensical. Gladiator and Matchstick Men featured some good performances but otherwise I'm not aware of anything good in Scott's other films. He's coasted a whole career on the strength of two early films.
well any1 who direct movies the quality of alien and blade runner is
already a legend (pun intended) in my book but gladiator was great too, although i do hate it for reviving the countless sword-sandal shlock of the 2000s
if robin hood was as bad as every1 says then perhaps scott has completely fallen off. people do age over time and lose the 'it' factor they once had....he 'peaked' so to speak, perhaps years ago.
