One would think she'd be happy to greet fans. I don't understand the "stars." If she would stop acting like she was better than other people and chat with the public, maybe people wouldn't make such a big deal out of seeing her.

@dashidada ...I agree but also to give this balance, sometimes you have a schedule to keep and signing a guitar suddenly turns into a 30 minute ordeal and Aretha is a little introverted and it wasn't like she was rude. But I would enjoy interacting with fans.

Sometimes I feel so sad for Aretha. I look at some of her older clips and wonder what happened. All of that weight is not good for her small frame. But, she must be strong as an ox because she has outlasted a lot of healthy looking folks in the industry too.

monrayday, I somewhat agree but if your trying to make a point that new york is that bad then we would all need protection while walking around there,celeb or not. The point almightyfire was trying to make was that no one knows who Aretha is anymore except if your a fan. She's not that much of an icon anymore. Now if this was britney spears or any other young female artist I could see the reason for it. But Aretha does over do it as if shes a real life queen or the president

She usually walks with one guy on each side of her, maybe incase she falls so they can pick her up quickly. She moves slowly because she's so incredibly over-weight. Not that we're trying to make fun of her, just stating a fact. We even saw one of the bodyguards tucking Aretha's foot into her vehicle on 2 separate occasions because she couldn't squeeze her leg into the car herself. These guys she has are more than just security, they are servants who just do whatever she tells them to do.

I could see that being one of the reasons for her having the help from the guys. In some ways this may sound funny but I've always wondered if thats the reason Aretha has someone to help her up and down stairs cause her breast are so big and stick out so far she can't see whats up under them, only whats infront and ahead and not below. Some might say it's because she wears high hills but she's needed that kinda help in flats.

The guy tucking her feet in the car is not a servant, he's her man Willie. It's evedent people still know who she is by the fact that folks are asking for her autogragh. Aretha has always been an a lister and she was leaving the CBS studio after performing early in the morning. She said on the View recently that she doesn't talk 20 mins after performances to preserve her voice. She is the QUEEN!!!!!

oh my god I am a big fan but come on girl, you have bodyguards like that with the earpieces and stuff. No one even is looking at her. She blends very well in the crowd. She looks like a regular sista from the hood that is walking down the street. This is just a big ego boost for HER. No one is paying her any attention. She is hiding her face and they are covering her up like she is Madonna. Aretha get over yourself.

@almightyfire1 Who is Madonna?!! LOL. Aretha is the Queen of Soul. She has been an icon since the 60's. Where was Madonna then, and where is she now? LOL.
