Companies like Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack and Freightliner only offer "international" trucks (engine mounted in front of the cab) because they have crumble zones that absorb the impacts of crashes as opposed to cab-over's which have none. Day cabs like the Mitsubishi Fuso are the exception of course.
You could reduce the payload by over 50% (and therefore the revenue too) and pull it with a Peterbilt. You'd go broke real quick, but maybe the little kids and the girls at the truck stop would be impressed. Ever heard of length laws, maneuverability, aerodynamics and fuel economy??

As for the limiters, there is always a slight differance in the limits as they are set up, and in is only on the road that they are really noticed.
