My daughter and a black friend applied for a scholarship. My daughter had high scores on her test and her friend barely made it through school because she did not apply herself like my daughter did. well, white-owned businesses receive over 80% of federal and state general service contracts today, so his point is a valid one. the current economic crisis is hitting all ethnicities, not simply whites. i think that's the point he was trying to make.
actually, affirmative action set aside programs aren't allowed in federal bid contracts. many states also ban them. you're going by stats that are nearly 20 years out of date.
They are still in affect, I've lost 2 just this month bidding on government based jobs due to this already. The above %'s are what we're bidding against currently. In most cases when government projects are concerned, in order to be awarded the contract the contractor must have 25% (or more) of minority particitation.
that's not true for federal contracts. and state contracts don't require minority participation. now there is a requirement for DISABLED VETERANS, but that's between 3% and 5% of the total contract. city contracts require minority participation, but that can include women and those with disabilities, not just blacks, asians or latins.
reason why i know is because i also bid on contracts. i've won several over the last few months, but they were later canceled due to the states financial crisis. i'm hoping the stimulus money the state will get soon will stop that from happening to me and others who rely in part on govt contracts to grow steady business.

I worked for a minority company, "black male" for over 8 years. Believe me when I say it was a good advantage to have and come into play on many of occasions.
Personally, I would rather have sealed bids for any or all projects and post later on whether or not that the selected can perform the project.
i'm in california and less than7 percent of all state contracts go to minorities. they really have an axe to grind, truth be told. it's not fair, but then few things in life are.
possibly a new segregated society, like most blacks and the .000000001% that are white supremacists want. white males can take all of thier success(what makes them racistly hated) and thier technology and start a seperate state. My family have been in this country since the 17th century, however they did not own slaves because they were from the north and were too poor. I have done some research and the stimulus package money is primarily being spent on construction, which is done by, you guessed it, white construction workers. Very little of that money is being spent in the service economy we now have. Infact it only helps in government projects and that is usually in building something, again there you have it , white construction workers.

My daughter and a black friend applied for a scholarship. My daughter had high scores on her test and her friend barely made it through school because she did not apply herself like my daughter did. The black girl gets the full 4 year scholarship and quits after less then a year. My daughter tearfully said to me Mom I would have rode that scholarship to the end. She was a single mother of 2 children, making crafts and selling them to support herself. How exactly do we know that the hunters and gatherers were white? North America had a lot of sunlight compared to Europe and certain areas of the Asian Steppes, and naturally peoples skin color tends to be darker over thousands of years because of human evolution or adaptions on a small genetic scale. Even if there were Russian descendants on the bridging continents, Russians are not very white, especially Eastern Russians and even Europeans, so classifying all Europeans as white is absurd.

actually, affirmative action set aside programs aren't allowed in federal bid contracts. many states also ban them. you're going by stats that are nearly 20 years out of date.

They are still in affect, I've lost 2 just this month bidding on government based jobs due to this already. The above %'s are what we're bidding against currently. In most cases when government projects are concerned, in order to be awarded the contract the contractor must have 25% (or more) of minority particitation.

that's not true for federal contracts. and state contracts don't require minority participation. now there is a requirement for DISABLED VETERANS, but that's between 3% and 5% of the total contract. city contracts require minority participation, but that can include women and those with disabilities, not just blacks, asians or latins.

I don't know what part of the country your in, but here in Florida it's been prevalent for the last 20 years or so.
I worked for a minority company, "black male" for over 8 years. Believe me when I say it was a good advantage to have and come into play on many of occasions.
Personally, I would rather have sealed bids for any or all projects and post later on whether or not that the selected can perform the project.
