  • The innovative Japanese metal band Boris named themselves after this song. Check them out - they more than live up to their name.

  • This song deserves "Uber-Like" button on youtube

  • Comment removed

  • Definitely one of the heaviest most devestating songs I've ever heard, right up there with Burning Witch.

  • i played this song full volume on youtube,it wrecked my pc speakers,i purchased the album, and it this wrecked my stereo,i bought an fucking expensive vyni copy and it wrecked that too....i hope i get to see them live in a few years...

  • LOL check it out if look real closelike when Buzz tilts his head back all the way.. He has a goatee..

    I never noticed that.

  • Dale was hot as hell back then but didn't age well...haha.

  • Go to mediaoutletonline. c_om for this song.

  • Some jailbait chick was bragging about Kurt Kobain and Nirvana. I told her to check out Boris by the Melvins and smoke some weed too. The poor prick she was with didn't even saw it coming...

  • When he (sort-of)spat that was phucking intense!!!!!

  • My name is Boris and I was born in 1991))

  • @BorisLarin Co-incidence?

  • PUTA! QUE ZARPADO!

  • i've read that buzz uses the a sunn hi-watt amp and boss odb-3... can anyone confirm that this is the equipment he uses to get this kind of tone? if not, what gear is he using in this video?

  • @HammarHeart sunn beta leads and a turbo rat

  • I can't even fathom pressing the dislike button on this. Who the fuck...?

  • my favourite melvins clip so far

  • MELVINS- NAJLEPSZY SLUDGE

  • can you imagine the poor fools listening to this shit back in 1991? the glam metal fad was just coming to an end, and then BAM this shit pops out of left field, along with mudhoney and blue river... must've blown their fuckin minds wide open

  • @HammarHeart its green river

  • @WhiteLightPA1 yes, it is. why the fuck did i say blue river? i must've been drunk at the time or something, haha

  • @HammarHeart the corpses looked blue.. in the green river

  • I say I can't but I really mean I won't

  • If the pace was any slower, there could be probably be no more rythm in it. OOOOh this is such a brutal song!!Take ´em up up and take em dohowhown....

  • That drumming could just be heavier than that of Led Zeppelin. That's arguable, but awesome drums in any case. Heavy all around.

  • Why couldn't they have harnessed this performance when I saw them in Toronto this past September?

  • @adamclark52 cause this performance was 20 years ago

  • @222ct Yeah, 20 years and 50 pounds later is a wee bit of a game changer...still love 'em though.

  • Sweet! I have 'Salad of a Thousand Delights' on VHS, but no video player :(

    This makes my day!

  • EPIC!!! Beyond punk and hardcore into the void. No one comes close.

  • punk in its heaviest incarnation

  • one of the hallmark metal performances thats ever happened to the genre.

the amount of venom that was injected into this song will make it a focal point for sludge and doom for a long long time.

    i mean fuck,look at them.

absolutely no fuck is given except pounding the utter dogshit out of the audience with that low e string and making them just deal with it.

  • @alucardisdumb best fuckin analogy ever....

  • Clutch anybody?

Stone me to life! Now I'm good, some Melvins,Boris,Kyuss and me drinks.

  • the heaviest

  • Holy Crap, that is "SLUDGECORE" period. What a great vid Sean Socco.

  • This DVD in general just rules. Period.

  • Мноо здравооо, кърти мивки

  • The look of exhaustion on Dale's face @ 5:04 is classic.

  • Fuck Yeah!!

  • that is grunge???

  • @sanlenispe no, this is sludge metal...

  • @DenizensKidA I don't think they would be enthused with being called "sludge metal" any more then "grunge". They started off hard-core punk because of their fondness for Black Flag, then Black Flag released 'My War' which reeeeally slowed it down, I guess it really clicked with Buzzo. Melvins is one of those bands that really defy genre, much like Primus.

But if you're looking for my two cents, my iTunes says it's "Stoner Rock" because it is music I like to bake to.

  • @mmccormack09 Well I use to call Melvins "post-hardcore", cause they play different kind of music, noise rock (Eyefly for example), stoner rock, stoner metal, sludge metal (and I think that this song is really "sludgy", I don't care what you think, this song is sludge metal for me, and I think the b-side of My War is proto-sludge, because I think that hardcore+doom metal = sludge metal)...

  • @mmccormack09 ...by the way the difference between grunge (if I say grunge I think... Mudhoney!) and sludge metal is much bigger than between sludge metal and stoner rock.

I hope I didn't make big mistakes because I am not english =)

  • @DenizensKidA Like I said, the Melvins really defy genre. its best to not call them anything, really.

  • @DenizensKidA Sludge is ferminated in the bayous of Lousianna :I

  • @Hitamaru ok now tell me that eyehategod and melvins sound completely different and tell stop to fuck me up :D

  • @DenizensKidA Eyehategod has a more fuzzy sound than the melvins crunch.EHG has a rhythm and Lead guitar which changes their sound ALOT. Both good bands, when would you like the buttsex?

  • @Hitamaru Yes...completely different sounds...salutami tua madre...

  • @DenizensKidA

    WORD TO YOUR MOTHER

  • @Hitamaru take your dictionary and search for "salutare", it's a verb....bye bye!

  • @Hitamaru *then...stop fuck me up, pardon...:D

  • seein the melvins on June 23rd, can't wait

  • el rey buzzo !!!

    viva el rey!!

  • A buddy of mine has this entire show on DVD.. Going to borrow it soon :)

  • oh sick, salad of a thousand delights?

  • make sure you dont put a scat porno back in the melvins case by accident and then return it to your buddy.................cos that would be pretty tense.

no need to thank me, just doing my bit

    stay sweet

  • louder!!!

  • of course it rocked, it was a Melvins show!

  • I was at this show!!!! Fucking rocked!!!!

  • I'm jealous. Wish I'd been born a decade earlier.

  • this is heavy, it makes you think about what you need to do.

  • grande dale crover!!

  • This is the song they built the Stonehenge to!!!

  • who the hell is the other guitarist...joe preston is in the background right?

  • This is from "salad of a thousand delights" great footage from a great band. One of the few bands that are truly unique.

  • melvins demand the invention of a new adjective. "Melvinesque" : To make heavy noisy music that enriches the soul.

    ergo this is Melvinesque

  • I like Clutch a lot, but this is nothing like Clutch.... This is Boris by The Melvins.

No matter how cool Clutch is they come no where near 5:05 - 5:23

  • I know that i said Clutch sounds alot like this I am saying Melvins probably had some influence on Clutch not the other way around....

  • old clutch....clutch is now pretty much a blues jam band.

  • what 5:05 - 5:23 that sounds exactly like 0:01 onwards?

    I'm clearly missing something here.

  • buzz's slide down the neck and doing that fuckin' vibrato!

  • man buzz & the melvins = infinite coolness

  • Dale Crover was so hot! (yes, i'm gay)

  • @robisurfer Dale Crover is hot! (no, I'm not gay)

  • @robisurfer

To be fair, we'd probably all be gay for Dale to some extent, lol ;D

  • pure, unadulterated raw anger and feeling.

you can look in their eyes and fucking tell they mean fucking business

  • Light me up some Melvins!

  • the Melvins are sic

  • 5:16 ... buzzo gets a little drooly lol

  • melvins rule.

  • This show is available on DVD by the way. Go buy it!

  • nirvana play in this gig too! remember, with the lights out DVD, love buzz

  • actually it is not the same gig. This one was in 1991 and Nirvana played in 10/11/90 (first show with Dave Grohl on drums).

    What a fucking great clip!

  • Best clip of the Melvins I have yet to see.

  • i'll have to agree.

  • HAIL SATAN !!!

  • melvins 4 everr!

  • Let me add that they weren't even like a band during this time period. With Joe on bass, hulking in the corner, they were like a band of Vikings descending on your town. They absolutely destroyed any band in its wake. They made other bands look just silly. Nirvana included. When they were done, people just staggered around for a bit, in awe.

So yeah, GREAT fucking band. Probably my all-time favorite. Brings a tear to my 40-year old eye just thinking about it. Ha.

  • and thats just how kickass the melvins are

  • so right on so many levels

  • lol exactly! the melvins are beast mode.

  • This is my youth. I was 22 at this time and saw them on many occasions. The shows were just like this. Sweaty, heavy, flannel-clad and fun as FUCK! Melvins will crush you.

  • Brutal as fuck...

  • buzz and matt lukin (original melvins bassist and founding member of mudhoney) are actually from montesano

  • Is the full show online anywhere?

  • Great fricken song! Just about the best melvins song ever!

  • Kick ass

  • Still an amazing band, just not a sikk as fukk amazing band like this.

  • Brilliant!

Melvins were so much better than the other Seatle bands. And the most underrated to.

  • They're not from Seattle.

  • Melvins are originaly from Aberdeen, WA then relocated to Frisco.

  • The Melvins are from Aberdeen, Washington, not Seattle, Washington.

  • best slo-core group ever.... the Melvins have sick shows...this whole performance is heavy and complex...movie release.."Land of a Thousand Salads"...not to be missed..I give it "5" sprained necks...

  • i love this group!

  • i wish i had been there.,.

  • goddamn!

  • Yeah, the Kiss sticker was cool. I think he retired that Les Paul not too long after I saw them that first time. Buzz's hair looked like a chicken's comb back then when he headbanged.

Dale's kit is definitely different. When I saw them, he might have had the 1 from '84's video. It had a HotWheels sticker on it and maybe a Sunburst pattern. Buzz's Fuck You bracelet was classic. I think each letter was on a plastic heart. I am jealous of those who were fans before Bullhead. Sorry to reminisce

  • Buzz, Dale, and Joe. Never has been and never will be better than that!

  • THE ARE MY FUCKIN FAVORITE BAND

  • melvins makes black sabbath turns into a pop band, fuckin' awesome

  • Dude these guys should tour with primus.

But do they still tour? or would they ever come to the east coast?

  • They're on tour right now thats all they do is tour

  • i think the greatest show on earth was new years 93 ... melvins primus and mr bungle.. to bad i was 1 year and 25 days old hahaha

  • You are so fuckin' right, that would be the best show ever! Ha, I was just 27 days old!

  • go see them while their on their NWB tour

they play this song live with big business

    and its fucking killer!

  • Just saw em last night doing boris in Austin. They also busted out with something from Gluey porch treatments. As always, a brutal show. I'm not as big a fan of the newer stuff, but I still try to see them every time they come around.

  • Joe motherfuckin' Preston.

  • excellent..thanks for sharing. the KISS sticker on Buzz's guit is funny..i'm a WAY bigger MELVINS fan than of KISS...and i think MELVINS lay down Goin' Blind far better (..wonder if this is before the MELVINS 'solo' albums modeled after the KISS albums...i have yet to hear them, too..). yeeeah. thanks again.

  • I used to have one of those stickers on my ring binder in 8th grade. Those came with the original vinyl version of Rock N Roll Over.

  • this is not drone its stoner/sludge metal

    drone is sooooooooooooooooooooooo boring

its basicaly someone with a guitar tuned to drop A playing the same note as slow as they can

  • Hell Yeah!

  • this isnt drone

  • I never thought a crowd could go so wild on drone music... I wish I were in there! (unfortunately, I was born in 1991, and not before....)

  • not so sure i ever wanted to see dale crovers package. but i did

  • Thanks for the video! The Melvins are badass mother fuckers! 24 years going strong!

  • 25 years. they started in 1983. in 2005 they released "Mangled Demos From 1983"

  • Ahhh Melvins. I saw them about a dozen times between 1989-1994 unfucking believable. Joe Preston was an SF local and would come check out local shows. Buzz was always good to the fans they encored all the time. Good memories.....and they are still incredible. In 91 I saw them at the now defunct Berkeley Square.

  • Whoa, Brad Pitt in the audience @ 2:17

  • ha ha ha ha!!!

  • he had a mustache

  • Bolshevism sucks but I agree %100 percent with his decree. No one has come close to the level the Melvins were in the late 80s early 90s. The heaviness flows like an unending fountain of molten metal.

  • Is this where Boris (The fucking awesome Japanese band) got their name?

  • Yup.

And compared to the Melvins, they're not that fucking awesome.

  • Okay, I thought so.

Well, of course not - I mean, we are talking about the Melvins. But still, Boris is one of my favorite bands, and they are pretty awesome.

  • Word man! Boris are the balls! A bit different from Melvins but a great band.

  • Good taste in music, bro.

  • Nobody is. But Boris is pretty good actually.

  • Yep

  • i love how buzzo keeps delaying the lines he's singing so that everyone who's singing along will fuck up

  • Joe Preston and the Melvins? Hot damn I just came.

  • This song is so fucking goddamn awesome.

  • goosebumps man. this song rules all, as of right now.

  • heaviest riff ever.

    heaviest drums ever.

    heaviest everything, ever.

    this band fucking rules.

  • Melvins are the heaviest fucking band on the planet.

  • DALE CROVER YES

  • Possibly my favorite band DVD. I can't wait for the Fantomas/Melvins one July!

  • fuck sick Melvins are definitive!!! but how to dance this track o_O ??? ...just kidding.. ^_*

  • really slow dancing

  • really slow dancing

  • man how does he get tha tsound

  • actually i think the e and a strings are the same not just an octave apart for this song

  • yup, drop the low e down to a 440 and ride the octave

  • yup, drop the low e down to a 440 and ride the octave

  • viva melvins ahora y siempre!!!!

  • this is a fucking hypnotic drug. pure melvins.

  • i like the bit where joe preston shoves the guy back into the crowd, with absolutely no effort.

  • Best live Melvins vid there is...thanks!

  • TRUE STONER METAL.

Glad i got a nice bowl of kind bud to chillout with to this.

    FUCK YES MELVINS!

  • dont lie, you know you think his bulge is sexy. ;p

  • BORIS LIKES A LOT OF LITTLE THINGS TO KICK!!! fuck yeah

  • Man, the Melvins are one of my favorite bands of all time, but I sure could of done without the closeup of Dale's bulge at 7:11.

  • You know you love it.

  • I disagree, it MAKES IT.

  • Its like he plugs his guitar into a tar pit to get that much sludge in his sound.

  • I love this band, this song, and the band who named themselves after this song.

  • joe preston used to deliver pizzas to GG Allin when he was a pizza duder

    now thats entertainment!

  • killer rhythm section insanely powerful

  • rhythm section?? you mean buzz?

  • That'll be Dale Crover in his turquoise briefs. A sobering sight.

  • gives me a woody. But then i've always had a thing for dale crover.

  • Buzz is a sludge god, Dale can play the drums like no other and you can never go wrong with Joe Preston.

  • The first Melvins song I ever heard was a drum solo off of some album, and I thought it was Varese or something. Varese meets Sabbath through Flipper is how I describe them, but they're totally unto themselves.
