@sydnetmoore315 well considering i went to Catholic school and grew up in the suburbs, yes, i have a very distinct south Florida accent. i think if more people took the time to watch my other videos they'd see that i wasn't exaggerating my voice as much as they assumed because i'm speaking from experience.
You've just got yourself a new follower. I saw your Shit White Girls Say video and I laughed and then I decided to look at more of your stuff and I saw this video. It's nice seeing people do something to help others and I thought it was touching how you included the names into the ribbons. I know this is a bit late, but you are awesome.
I know this is late, but I really wanted to thank you for doing this. I lost a dear cousin to Leukemia about 4 yrs ago. When I arrived home from her funeral, I had a flyer from LLS in my mailbox. I walked the Shamrock that next year, and raised money thru LLS. It took me 7hrs and 11mins to walk those 26.2 miles, but it was well worth it. YOU ARE AMAZING....THANK YOU AGAIN!! BTW, the jewelry was a nice touch.
God Bless you, I'm still crying after watching this....thanks again.
You are amazing and I know I already commented on this video but you inspired me so much that I joined the Team in Training in Illinois and I can't wait for my first informative meeting in December. Thank you for being such an inspiration and helping to find a cure.
@fadiliscious oh wow! that's so awesome! i'm so glad to hear you joined. you're going to have an awesome time and meet so many great people. any idea what race you want to do?
Congratulations on completing your first half marathon! I also want to thank you for including my parents' names on your ribbons. I was so touched to see their names as I watched the video. This has definitely been added to my favorites!
@LocdSister wow! i'm so glad so many people were able to spot their loved one's names in this video. i didn't anticipate that. i was happy and honored to do it. thank you for sharing!
This is awesome Chesca! I had cancer and glory to God its over and done with but this was such an AWESOME cause! Thank you for running for those who could not and for supporting such a great cause!
Love the ribbons idea - really cool. Nice necklace also at the end as a remembrance. Wonderful experience, well worth it. Sounds like you've got the bug now!
I cannot express enough to you how very moved I am to see that you rocked that entire marathon with those ribbons in your beautiful locs. It is something like this that shows just how truly genuine you are, Miss Chesca. <3 Thank you for running and for being you.
Too cool, Chescha!!! I'm planning on running my first 1/2 marathon next May and raising money for the American Cancer Society in their DetermiNation group. I just finished a 10K last week and looking forward to a winter of running (sarcasm) NWM looked like an amazing fun time!!!! Congrats!!
@melgaye0 congrats to you too! i hear running in the winter isn't that bad if you're prepared. get yourself some under armor winter running pants and a jacket and you'll be fine. these past few days it's actually felt really good running in the cold. after 10 minutes you warm right up. keep me posted on your race and fundraising!
@MultiNaturals <3 no, I'm not running NY, that's this weekend and I haven't trained for a full marathon yet. trying to get back on a regular running schedule so I'll be able to do another half and then prepare for a full. I want to do one of TNT's abroad marathon's next year, hopefully Madrid if they do it for the Fall season.
Wow that was such an amazing thing to think of putting ribbons in your hair with people's names on it. Even though I didn't give you any names that that touched my heart. Thanks so much for that
@Brandonality it's fun, but don't be fooled, it's also really hard. lol i had an awesome time though. looking forward to doing it again and beating my time!
I have received so many gifts/trades/favors from twitter and you tubers, but seeing my aunts name on your ribbons in this video is the ultimate. Thank you so much! You've inspired me to da the same. I'm still wiping away tears.
@SumKindaWndrful thank you so much for this beautiful comment. i'm so glad i was able to do this and celebrate the memory of so many wonderful people that have inspired and meant so much to so many. i only hope I can do the same <3
@stardust9835 you have to qualify for Boston and right now there's noooo way i'd qualify. I want to do another half first. considering doing the ING Miami half in January....
@chescaleigh I'm not in training at the moment. I want to run the Shamrock Half Miler here in Virginia next March. I actually just joined up with a running group (Black Girls Run) in my area and I LOVE it!!! We meet up and go on runs in the Hampton Roads area. The farthest I ran was the Wicked 10K in Virginia Beach. Last Saturday I ran away from zombies for Survive Norfolk. That was the most fun and scary run ever!!!
you did it girl! great job!!! I know those buns were on FIRE doing the San Fran hills! AAAAHHHH!!!! Dang they gave yall T&Co. I need to run the SanFran next time! LOL!
@DuchessWright Those hills were NO JOKE. mile 6-8 was almost completely uphill and then when you think you get a break you realize downhill is almost harder because it's so steep! it was a tough course but really beautiful which made it fun. but girl, I was a MESS afterward. We flew back to NY the next morning and then I had to go to work the next day so my legs were on FIRE. but, I did an ice bath which really helped because I was only sore for about 2 days, as opposed to a whole week.
@chescaleigh WOW! and to have to sit on the plane for hours back to NY OUCH! The icebaths are amazing with soreness. I'm glad you were able to document...this was so cool to watch! Thanks so much for sharing!
@Drrck11 i didn't fim the entire time, but yes, i carried it the entire race. i couldn't exactly put it down somewhere and then pick it back up lol the course was 13 miles and didn't start and end at the same place. i had no choice but to carry it.
oh man... i burst into tears in the middle of watching your update. i saw my mom's first name on your ribbon. your spirit is BIG!!! running for charity was BIG. my mom's life was BIG. thank you Chesca. RuuuuUUUnnnnNNN!!!!
@rmneilson omg now you've got me crying! thank you so much for letting me do the honor of keeping your mom's spirit alive during my race and for your support and encouragement.
@temi1979 a fairly pathetic 3 hours :P My goal was under 3, (I did 11 in Central Park in 2:40) but the hills were killer. literally mile 6-8 were completely uphill. it was brutal. Considering it was my first long distance race, I'm just glad I finished and finished strong. I'll do better next time
Running uphill, talking and shooting a video. You are good! LoL. I'd be passed out somewhere near the bottom of the hill. lol. You're inspiring me to consider running. Hmmm. I could at least try, right?
