The rest of the story deals with the trial and her recovery. It is disturbing, but it was a very important and well executed story that played out for several years.

Everybody admits it's possible to reconsider your actions, even in real life, let alone soaps. But when it comes to rape - "rapist=never can change neither be forgiven". Strange.

@koektoful Most rapists ARE ill. Most rapists are, at the very least, sociopaths. Notice I said most, not all. There are exceptions....."just bastards" is not an exception, though, it's an excuse. Mistakes can be made and regretted, but remorse does not replace punishment. Rape is a crime and should be punished as a crime. Some rapists can be helped, but not if they do not take responsibility for the crime and the damage they caused. Forgiveness is personal and specific to the situation.

@mac020507 Yes,you're right, there should be punishment, if the victim decides to go to court. But it is still a bit unfair: leaving your girfriend after she says she's pregnant or saying to your old parents that they are a burden and putting them away to an old people's home, or many other things are more cruel than some rapes(well, not this one - it's atrocious). And no one is in prison for that! And very few are remorseful.

Those things do have labels like "deadbeat" and "selfish assholes". I hope for your sake you never find out how different rape is and how weak and simplistic the label "rapist" really is in relation to the damage caused by that act. There is nothing "short and handy" about it.

The rest of the story deals with the trial and her recovery. It is disturbing, but it was a very important and well executed story that played out for several years.

I am a 2x rape victim and a sufferer of mental anguish so I can understand how Todd's remorse and self hatred is a punishment that is with him every day. I am also a firm believer in the idea that if you do it to someone else it should be done to you. Although they didn't exactly do that, they took the story in the right direction when Powell lost it. Todd got to see himself how others saw him, and experience some of what he had done to Marty through Powell which made him hate himself even more.
