@bainaka Perhaps a tribute to Capcom. Unlike SFII, JMF has an AI that changes after a heart is lost. The point of having mechs without limbs is to make the game efficient enough to be fun and smooth. Without it, it would be like the other NES fighting games. It also helps the game hold up to 36 playable characters, which was the largest fighting game roster before the release of KOF98.
