Yes, all 3 pedals, he using clutch pedal for downshifts, and heal-toe technique is much easier and funnier. Some SMG's doesn't have clutch pedal, you can down or up shift without pedal (example NSX ARTA GT-1).

what i mean is when you put on the breaks, is it still in gear or does the breaks put it in neutral .

you cant put it in neutal till you go back to 1st, or stand on the clutch.

its used for reverse, kind of like a lockout so you wont miss shift to reverse
