Top class WA pacers are mostly Kiwi's. Baltic Eagle was no exception. Looking back in the last 30 years there have been many high class ex-NZ's that have won at G1 level. Village Kid, Jack Morris & Im Themightyquinn just to name a few. The best 3 yr old in WA Ohokas bondy is a kiwi, as is the next best Seel 'n Print. Locally bred standardbreds are good, but I know where I'd head. FYI Playing God ran 3rd in the Australian Cup at Flemington. He'll be a Caulfied Cup horse next year IMO.
Not a notable doms final field, but he won it well, and it doesn't change the fact that he was a fantastic horse. Interesting that top class harness horses from WA seem to be far more prevalent than with the gallops?
Maybe so . I agree with richie334 Baltic Eagle was an absolute champ whose career was ruined by injuries. he deserved that win 150%. could any other horse do that much work to find the lead and win an inters final? Maybe Blacks a Fake. Inters finals aren't easy to win. He only had 40 career starts! Also shout out to The Falcon Strike. I loved watching them two slog it out at Gloucester Park.
Sinbad Bay was the best I ever saw. His win in the Gold Nugget when he thrashed the best field of 4 year olds ever assembled was the best run I've ever seen. Neither of those was a Westburn Grant or a Village Kid but they both were great great horses. In my opinion Baltic Eagle should have gone to the states. He ruled over distance on the bogger tracks.
Karloomick you must be joking !! There was some bloody good horses in there!! ... You must be a sydneysider
