Ahhh!! I am so fricken jealous!! Why must I be jealous? I'm the same age as him.. And! I can Play that song too... But why must i be jealous!!! I cant get rid of it!!!!
@patel136 That is just not true. I am a teacher and performer professionally for 30 years, high level...I have found that "normal" kids are far more difficult, lazy, unmotivated, depressive, etc...that kids that are truly "gifted."
Gifted children have more motivation to actually ASK for the instrument at a very young age, sometimes as early as 2 years old. I just taught a 9 year old in a conductorless chamber ensemble that practices 2 hours a day, since age 3, because she WANTS to do it.
Hey Michael, I am possibly buying your previous instrument. I play the violin but am no where near your talent... and I'm twice your age. oh well. If you do somehow miraculously read this comment, Let me know what violin you had b4 u played on Oprah and then I confirm if it was yours. prob will never happen but its worth a shot.
What I like about this guy is that he is not like the typical so-called "child prodigy", that you see playing a Paganini caprice at crotchet 200... ridiculous. Michael's technique may not be perfect (he does have some false notes in between) but he definitely plays with expression and musicality, which is, to me, where the real prodigy is. Maybe in some years more he will become one of the greatest violinists of our time.
I work with this child's grandmother Helen Province at a nursing home called Luther Manor in Dubuque, Iowa. He visits about once a year and plays for the residents. He's amazing. An absolutey wonderful spirit!
Maybe Alexander Prior was conducting but the violinist is most definitely Michael Provence, who is 13 or 14 and absolutely great. You can see more of Michael on YouTube on a segment 4 Questions for Michael Provence from Lynn University.

Hey, everyone! When you are done watching this the first time- watch it again, but with the volume off. That's how you know they are a prodigy.

these prodigies may be amazing to us, but they're always miserable; they're 'adults' before their time who totally miss out on a normal childhood.

Ida said he did not play it right, but I think his version is enjoyable to listen. Actually, I prefer to listen this than Heifetz's version.
