  • my style 2 is about 3/4 done. if it sounds half as good as yours I`ll be happy. and if I could play half as good as you I`d be happy there too. thanks very much. clm7201.

  • Very Solid man.... SOLID...

  • Really great feel and playing, and what a superb tone from your vintage dobro. Fantastic! Greetings from Scotland.

  • Hi

je découvre cet instrument et J AIME

  • Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I appreciate it!

  • You are so far from all the other flat covers ont the Tube ! Excellent, you have really nice licks, in open D, not the easiest for this tune. And what to say on your original Weiss...the Tony Francis is really great too, but what a mojo on this one !

So thanks for posting your music, i spent a good time on YourTube !!!

  • Man oh man...you gave me chills!!! I've been playing guitar for 35+ years...and finally picked up a Lap Steel a few weeks ago. Wish you lived in Vegas...so that I could take lessons from you! GREAT PLAYING-God Bless !!

  • This is... wow

  • is that homemade...the dobro

  • No, its a mid-1920's Weissenborn guitar.

  • WOW THIS IS AWESOME

  • Wonderful!!!!

  • Oh man, You took my favorite song and made it my favorite song. lol My best friend is starting lessons and he sent me here. BEAUTIFUL!

  • Kaint fool me! Yall done that`n a time-r-two.

    Soundes reeeeel good two.

  • Close your eyes and just listen....so reminiscient of real early recordings. Wonderful tone.

(You'd make a cracking living playing in the London underground bud).

  • Praise the Lord! Wonderful rendition!

  • Beautiful!! I'm waiting for my first Weissenborn to be delivered...within the next 6 weeks I'm told, thanks for sharing...please post more!

    Sheila

  • I'm guessing it's arrived now!! what is it like??

  • Still got the blues...I love it...

  • I WANT YOUR WEISSENBORN!!! OMGGGG

  • whoa...chills runnin down my spine!

  • Wow!! Really nice, thanks.

  • This is the best sounding Lapsteel I've heard on Utube! Great playing too, real nice feeling to that version! Love it. Can I ask you the brand of the guitar or who made it? Keep on Sliding! Mike :)

  • very nice, very different.

  • Fabulous Thanks for sharing

  • Fantastic stuff man.

  • Very nice playing, but the sound is a little dull, maybe a bit of reverb on the mix would lift it out more. I would also add a small tremolo / vibrato from like a Fender amp. It wopuld sound real swampy then!!! Best wishes.

  • Dude, it's not an electric. This guitar has a great full, woody tone, very pure and piano-like. Reminds me a little of a dulcimer. PLENTY of room reverb. Too much reverb would muddy the tone immensely, ruining the vibrato, and making the tones less distinct. GREAT sounding instrument, and good playing as well.

  • loving this version dude..God Bless!

  • well done ! ... a real keeper. ~ a bluesie kind of AMAZIN' GRACE !

  • Great interpretation of this timeless tune.

    Congrats!

    Chris

  • you bro you rip is that a cole clark lap steel? do you have tabs? please

  • It's a style 1 Weissenborn guitar from the mid-1920's.

  • haha wow thats a keeper for sure hahaha

  • GREAT sounding instrument, my friend!

  • @robadobro such nice sound from your wessenborn ...... I love them .... you bring out the best in it also

  • Hey Rob. Great vid and website. I really appreciate the work you do. A question for you. Do you have the tabs for this? Also, is the tuning DADF#AD? I know its in D, but I can't tell if that is an F#

  • I don't have tabs for this, but technique wise it's a slow blues using the low D string as a drone; in some ways similar to what I do for Feelin' Bad Blues (which is tabbed out on my website)

    It's standad D tuning (DADF#AD)

    Thanks for the nice comments

    Regards,

    Rob

  • @BenWannaBee (I have played this song for many, many years) - If you want to play it in the key of D - here are the chords - D, D7, G, Bm, E7, A, and A7.

  • yess great, i love the way you slide it, keep it...!!

  • Your tone is outstanding, I agree with hollowneck, VERY deep feeling indeed. Keep em' comin'!

  • Rob, your playing on this is so soulful, I found the same vid on your site a while back & it blew me away!... a truly beautiful interpretation.

  • I wish I had some of your "less than perfect" chops - very nice and inventiveplaying to my ears!

  • Thanks, I really like your playing as well! There are definitely a few gaffs in the clip, but I guess I liked some of the ideas enough to post it anyway...
