  • is this a standard .17hmr? Please get back to me, I want to get a .17hmr for coyotes but everyone keeps doubting it

  • That MUST have been a .17 Remington!!! Right???

  • Nice shot

  • @AlessioDAlessandro Coyotes kill cows, cows are for consumption, so coyote hunting is killing for consumption

  • i wanna start coyote is a .177 1000fps braek barrel air rifle a good choice

  • @TheRobT09 No. Absolutely not.

  • @TheRobT09 HAHA good joke

  • I learned about this caliber after I bought a .17 Mach IV.. I love what this round does.. unfortunately mine can only use 25gr as a max.. Still nails them, but nothing like that predator does..

  • im sorry but why use decoys. uggh. its kinda mean.

  • ohh sorry

  • Hi, i was wondering if you could tell me where you found 30 gr .17 hmr rounds? thanks

  • @L1NG4N It's not a .17 HMR I'm using. It's a centerfire .17 called the .17 Predator.

  • @DaveAffleck how many grain, is it about the same as a regular rim fire .17?

  • @SuperDutyCummins No, it's nothing like any rimfire. It's a 30 gr. bullet at 4100 fps.

  • @SuperDutyCummins No, it's nothing like any rimfire. It's a 30 gr. bullet at 4100 fps.

  • @DaveAffleck 4100 FPS? I have a really hard time buying that. Maybe 2400 FPS...

  • @Burgeezy Why??? If you have a hard time "buying" that a case the size of the Predator can zip a 30 grain bullet at 4100+, what you really should be "buying" is a clue. Because you obviously lack one...

  • @DaveAffleck Well what you're talking about is a .223 case shooting a .17 round. I suppose it could be possible but I'd love to know how you measured the speed. The only thing I find online about this round is on Squidoo by you ironically. HMR .17 rounds are in the 2500 FPS range. You're talking about adding like 75% to this by changing the case size. I don’t buy it....I'd have to see paperwork from an independent testing to prove this. A 22-50 would be more practical.

  • @Burgeezy You're an idiot.

  • @K2Carbides And you suck cock.

  • @Burgeezy Says the guy that, 3 days ago, liked and favorited the dance scenes from Dirty Dancing. Sure buddy I'm the fag, whatever helps you sleep at night.

There is absolutely no debate that the .17-223 AI chucks 30 grainers well over 4k fps. You are an idiot if you can't see why or at the very least estimate its performance relative to other similar cartridges.

Also please explain how burning 30% more powder in a .22-250 is more "practical" for calling in and shooting Coyotes.

  • @K2Carbides OK troll...you caught me I enjoy classic movies like Dirty Dancing and Pretty Woman. If that defines me as gay so be it.

I can assume its possible based on FPS of similar cartridges however the grain of bullet is heavier and only in the 3500 FPS range. So to drop 20 grain will that make up the difference I dont know.

Its more practical because you can have 4000 FPS with a 40-50 grain bullet. This leads to higher muzzle energy. That is where its at. 22-250 = 'yote killer

  • @Burgeezy And a 6mm Remington has even more energy and effective range. So fucking what? What does any of that have to do with calling in and shooting coyotes at a couple hundred yards? That is, aside from being a waste of powder.

I think you need to watch the video again. I've shot a coyote with a 7mm rem mag, it wasn't any more dead.

  • @K2Carbides The .17 round is not ideal for coyote hunting. Its suited for smaller animals like rabbits and squirels. Ideally its not the best round for larger game. So to go through the hassle of making a special higher powered .17 just to kill a coyote is sorta lame to me. Just get a bigger gun when you want to shoot larger game. Like if you want a fast car get a big engine...stop trying sqeeze the piss out of a 4 banger.

  • @Burgeezy "The making a special higher powered .17..." is half the fun

The sectional density of a .172 30 grain is higher than 40 and 50 grain .224s. Giving it great penetration. You ever seen a coyote? They're like 30 lbs. The min power level for even 40 lb garbage dump feeding coyotes is 300ft-lbs. The .17 Pred is above that just beyond 400 yards. More power is not necessary. It's a perfect cartridge for coyote and any smaller varmint.

Again, if your goal is more power. Why 22-250?

  • @K2Carbides I'm all about modifications to make things cooler. I'm just thinking this gun would explode smaller animals like squirrel and rabbit. I want the Savage HMR .17 but I dont know if I'll attempt any coyote hunting with it. Here in the Chicago are the Coyotes we have are like the size of a large German Sheppard. For sure nothing like the 30lb animals you mention. I'm torn between the .17 and the 22-250. One seems not good enough for big game, the other too big for small game.

  • @Burgeezy dude dont worry the 17 can and will kill coyotes and wolfs with the 20 grain xtp load under 125 yards the load will penetrate 18'' of meat i have been using the 17 hmr since it has come out and stucvk with it i have killed varmints and coyotes and other fur bearing animals into the thousands and the 17 hmr will take them all and do it more accuratly than a 22 lr or 22 at any practical rimfire range and then some. again 20 grain loads only.

  • @L1NG4N LAWL

  • How far of a shot? (yrds)

  • @tacticalspeeds About 100 yards.

  • Hey that's cheating! jk good shot

  • wtf...the coyote looked like it had a seigure

  • you should come hunting in northeastern united states they are almost twice as big as out west.

  • Nice job and thank you for helping keep coyote population down. I actually own chickens myself and coyotes and foxes are big problems if they can get to them theyll kill every last one of them.

  • Looks like you drilled it in the left leg.

Not a very clean shot. I hope you followed up with a second one to finish it off.

  • No, it was a very clean shot, in the shoulder, not the leg. Bullet smashed the shoulder, penetrated into the chest cavity and both lungs were totally destroyed. It was dead within seconds. No follow up shot needed.

  • @DaveAffleck

Ah, well, I guess I didn't really notice it on the vid then. I just saw the leg bend at a weird angle.

How do you like your .17 btw?

  • @DaveAffleck was it 17 grain or 20 grain bullets nice video

  • @MrTrapper17 Neither, actually. All I ever use in that rifle are 30 gr. bullets.

  • @DaveAffleck it was dead instantly. They just do that when they die. Especially when you shoulder punch them like that. Nice shot. I shoot a 17 remington. good caliber for under 300 yrds :)

  • Where were you hunting in Utah?

  • Where the coyotes are!

  • @DaveAffleck I know where contact me.

  • @TheXlrenio there is a lot of Coyotes all over Utah there is some very good coyotes all around St. George that i have had a lot of luck with and then at the northern part by Snowville there is some really good Coyote hunting out there too

  • @AlessioDAlessandro well I guess we have to agree to disagree. I really dont think nature could balance its self. It would be total chaos and loss of some species would definetly happen, or there would be wide spread disease killing a lot of animals that would spread to livestock. Take care man, you seam like an ok guy. For the most part we've agrued this without being rude to each other.

  • @AlessioDAlessandro I think people that only hunt horns are wrong. So Im with you there. I hunt because its enjoyable to me, and I would rather eat wild game than store bought hormone induced meats. Killing a deer for the freezer is no different than killing a cow if you're eating it. In most cases it costs me more money to hunt, but i do it because thats what I love. Its respect for the animal. What is wrong with church? Its ok if you are not a believer but you shouldnt bash people.

  • @AlessioDAlessandro Dont get me wrong, there are people that hunt for the wrong reasons. However killing coyotes to help other animal populations is conservation. Killing coyotes in my home state is what brought the wild turkey population back up. Killing Mountain Lions in AZ where I live now helps the deer population. Killing an albino deer where legal would only benefit the herd, they have bad immune systems and would effect the health of other deer. You can eat them still.

  • @AlessioDAlessandro you have still not said one thing that has anything to do with conservation. There is a limit to the amount of animals we are allowed to take. Like deer, turkey etc. However right now the coyote population is out of control, so you're allowed to shoot as many as you want for the time being. What is wrong with this? Its ok that its not what you like to do, but if someone wants to what reason do you have to tell them no? Thats all Im asking. It helps wildlife to regulate.

  • @AlessioDAlessandro You still havent said one thing that would benefit wildlife like hunting does. Its ok though, you probably dont have the education to understand what hunting really does for wildlife. You only see a cute animal getting killed, but what you dont see is conservation. Not a problem, some people understand, and some dont The good thing is the people that matter are the ones that understand.

  • Coyote is like "what the fuck is that?"

  • @AlessioDAlessandro why do you watch these videos if you dont like hunting? I mean you probably dont do one thing to help wildlife, atleast hunters put tons of money into it, and we're the reason there are so many animals today. Remember that in the US it is a regulated sport. Coyotes are unlimited in many states for a reason, they need them to be thinned out. To many coyotes hurt other game numbers. This is best for everyone, other animals and people. Nature was not handling the ecosystem.

  • haha at about 0:24 that dog looks like he says, OOOOWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! lol, awesome shooting!

  • Go hug a tree fag....

    Nice video

  • the children did nothing. the man did the ecosystem and ranchers a favor. and probably had alot of fun doin it, idiot hippie

  • Nice clean kill, good job!

  • that decoy sounds like my mother-in-law

  • @foxracing3750 sounds like my ex wife

  • @foxracing3750 hahhaha

  • DaveAffleck is a dushbag

  • But at least I'm a douche bag that can spell. And I only went to school through the 9th grade. How much of a dumb ass does that make you??

Thanks for making me laugh though!

    Dumb Ass.... LOL!!!

  • wats the difference between a 22. caliber and a 17. caliber

  • .17 HMR are much faster than .22. So they can usually penetrate and expand more than .22

  • CAn a .17 kill a coyote, and how far is it effective?

  • How far depends on "which" .17. I killed one with this .17 at over 600 yards once. But 400 yards would be a more realistic limit. The load I'm using still has 500 ft/lb's of energy left at 400 yards. You guys need to realize, this is NOT a .17 HMR. Or even a .17 Rem. It's a wildcat cartridge that pushes 30 gr. bullets at 4100 fps.

  • under 150 yards with 17hmr in the right spot will drop a coyote although a .223+ would be better.

  • dont think that was a .17 but what do i know i wasnt there so i wont judge, but one loud .17 although...

  • It is pretty loud. And it is a .17.

  • are you using the .17 Remington Fireball?

  • No, it's a .17 caliber wildcat with more capacity than the .17 Remington. Quite a bit more capacity and velocity than the Fireball.

  • @DaveAffleck Is it a rimfire? If so how the heck do you wildcat it? Seems like a pretty impressive round! I have a new 17 HMR I intend to hunt the yotes with but I'm worried about killing potential, I insist these DRT. Do you think my rifle will do the trick? I can do my part, no worries. Or should I stick to a slightly larger round, say my 9mm carbine, 6.5 Carcano, or SKS?

  • well it will do fine if you dont hit very much bone. 17 hmr bullets are meant to fragment in light skinned animals and if they hit a solid surface they will shatter. so the shoulder bone might be a problem there

  • @PBgobluedevilsJJ Okay thanks. I'll probably stick with a heavier bullet, just to be safe.

  • @DaveAffleck HEY I REALLY WANT ONE OF THESE 17 CENTERFIRE RIFLES, WHERE CAN I GET THE GUN TO SHOOT THAT WILDCAT ROUND?

  • @dieselracer2010 To get a rifle to shoot this wildcat, the .17 Predator, you have to pay a riflesmith to custom make one for you.

  • @dieselracer2010 17 caleber ,i know i spelled it wrong is a rim fire

  • Nice kill

  • .17 own this wepon is very accurate and powerfull

  • .17?

i didnt think they can hit that hard. looka bout like my arma light shootin vmax

  • What part of Utah are you in?? Cuz I need to cruise out to where your shooting

  • I USE A AR-15 223 AND A FX3 FOXPRO CALL

  • Greetings from Minnesota!....Sweet shot on that yote!. Coyote hunting is better than deer hunting in my opinion....I shot a savage 22-250 with 55gr Winchester silver ballistic tips....They have no chance out to 300yrds. Open season on yotes here with no bag limit!....Kill them deer eating bastards!

  • whoa holy cow nice shot man, i hunt yotes myself in SD

  • Damn, a .17 did that?

    Is that in southern utah?

  • yote hunting is legal in most states. in Oregon, where i live, they are under the 'non protected animals' meaning you can shoot them year round with no bag limit. you do have to have a state hunting license though. some places are so over populated that there is actually a bounty out for them. FUN TO SHOOT!

  • i thought coyote hunting was illegal.

are they a problem with livestock?

  • coyote hunting in saskatchewan is legal and there a huge problem with livestock if they get to a starving point... mosly they attack smaller animals and pets

  • they take calves down fairly commonly here in bc

  • Na ur thinking of wolves.

  • yes. in some places they are.

  • @BrutalDeluxe80 oh yeah they kill everything they can get there hands on. i know in georgia you can hunt coyotes year round and kill as many as you can

  • nice shot. and i love that decoy haha

  • AlessioDAlessandro for somebody who defends animals dont you think that is hypocritical to wish that on children. Claim love but you spew hate, makes you look real pathetic.

  • do you need a license to hunt coyote?

  • Not in Utah.

  • hot damn, i'm swinging by utah on my way up to idaho just to have some target fun. oh by the way i'm a californian.

  • HaHaHaHa! Such loving humanitarians you antis are, LOL! I can't imagine how much it must suck to go through life with that kind of outlook. I hope your children live long, productive, happy lives! Heck, I even hope YOU learn to be happy some day.

  • nice shot

  • Do they make a semi auto .17 rifle yet?

  • I don't believe there are any factory .17 caliber centerfire rifles. Lots of customs though.

  • yes there are. The .17 remington and .17 remington fireball are both centerfire.

  • Where have you ever seen either one in a factory semi-auto?

  • if you read what you said, you would know you said "I don't believe there are any factory .17 caliber centerfire rifles", i said, yes there is. You didnt say anything about semi autos.

  • If you read the question above, that I was answering, you will see he was asking about semi-autos. Trust me, I know all about the .17 Rem. and the .17 Fireball. I've been shooting both of them for decades - and yes, the Fireball has existed that long, known as the .17 Mach IV.

  • you can buy a .17 hmr savage bolt action for 140 bucks at walmart.

  • What do you have then?

  • In the video I'm using a .17 Predator. You can find out more than you ever wanted to know about the .17P on my website.

  • Quick, help the poor doggie! While your there, is there a better/easier .17 to buy, Im thinking of getting one but not sure about having to form cases etc, although it sounds like fun.

  • Sure. Just get a .17 Remington. Readily available in factory form, with factory ammo on the shelf. Only gives up about 200 fps to what I'm using.

  • I don't give a rats ass if the guy kills em with a teaspoon. Just as long as he kills em!!

  • i hate .17 calibers they are potinless just get a .22 or a 30 u can only hunt 2 things with that gun coyotes and groundhogs

  • I've got a bunch of .22's and a bunch of .30's. I like the .17's best for coyotes though. So, what is your point?

  • Nice shot...grats.

  • thats fun but hunting with them with trucks and radios is freaken sweet i just shot my first one last year

  • Thought too long...

  • can a .17 drop a coyote humanly i just got one with the intent to hunt gophers or prare dogs.. but ive always shot then with 22 250s

  • I've never had any problem making clean kills on coyotes with a .17 caliber centerfire. Check out some of my other vids and you'll see about 40 clean kills with a .17. I wouldn't use a .17 HMR though, if that's what you are asking.

  • it can be done with a 17 HMR ive seen it. its gotta be close tho

  • he folded up nicely

  • you, my friend, is incredibly judgmental...its probably useless that i say this b/c u probly wont listen but I care about being a good steward of the land and MY VIDEO WOULD LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME...can u read what im saying for the sencond time?...MY VIDEO WOULD LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME!...i swear, ur just making urself appear very ignorant...truly no offense intended, just the picture your sending out...o and wool is not used as the sole fabric in alot of clothes but often a complementary fabric

  • how can u assume they dont care..i care about freezing kids & my video would look just the same so how can u make that assumption? & i like how u make it sound so detached..more sheep for example means more wool, which means more wool blankets for ex..which means more of those blankets 4 the world..& dont pull some crap and say "wull where are the balnkets goin??" thats another argument...just keep on tryin my friend...again tho, we live only by virtue of taking from the eco system...accept it

  • was i talkin about those other animals...no...take note of my "ENDNOTE" in one of my comments...i said modifying the eco system too much is bad but that isnt the case here for coyotes...if we lived by ur principles and didnt do anything to eco system, we'd all die b/c the fact is we live off of what we take from the eco system whether it be plants, animals, etc...i think deep down u kno that

  • also..sheeps provide wool for freezing kids...& when our nations ag. industry is so critical..every little bit helps...and for the last time, we are not hurting the coyote species as a result...man i bet the state of Iowa is disgraced to have such a anti-ag./food & clothing person from their good state. ENDNOTE: modifying the environment 2 much is bad, yes, but we arent doin it too much here so ur wrong...we are actually controlling it from gettin out of hand..keeping the population stable, etc.

  • man u avioded the heck outta that question lol...i personally have friends that rent land from my family's farm & have been willing to hire extra hands as sheep "guards" over night b/c they've been losing approx. 20% of their sheep annually...thats an incredible percentage...its enough to put ppl out of business if they dont horizontally integrate...also, if anything the over-pop of coyotes is hurting the eco-sys..we arent altering the eco. sys. we are controlling it...o&coyotes kill calves 2

  • 1st of all...they aren't these harmless little innocent animals u claim...cannot u not get it that they are a BIG problem when it comes to eating the living daylights out of sheep, etc??...second: they are animals, NOT HUMANS...we are not murdering ppl here, we are simply controlling an over-populated predatory animal that is killing off alot of sheep, etc. and ultimately not exactly helping our CRITICAL, much needed Ag. industry (u kno that stuff that feeds starving kids..starving HUMANS)

  • @user0707 Don't forget the fact these things are dangerous to humans, especially when they get rabies, and are quite adept at spreading mange and lime disease.

  • Coyote eat dogs cats rabbits so if it eat ur dog/cat or any pet i would kill one coyotes are predators so r we

  • i don't belive that the cayote went through pain, well it did it was just so overwelming he didn't feel it, kinda like when you get a bad fivestar it hurts but not right away cause since you get it from surprise its more of a shock.

  • Hey Iowa why don't you sit yourself down in a room with a couple of rabid coyotes, ohh sorry little doggies and see if there as nice as you seem to think?

    hippie

  • A PEST IS A PEST IS A PEST! Its common knowlage that framers/ranchers have the right do protect there shit, animals or other wise its no different as if it was a wolve, badger, bear......ect oh and the last time i checked the coyote was not on the endangerd species list. Also there are such things as hunting seasons and there is a coyote season. Dave was in the right so until you have somthing relevent to add to the conversation calm down.

  • "And you pity ME?!"

Yes. The more you reveal about your lack of understanding or even willingness to understand the world around you, the more you reveal your bigotry, hatred and lack of tolerance, yes the more I pity you.

The world is full of unhappy people just like you though. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to help you.

Hopefully, you'll eventually find some self esteem and inner peace. With that will come understanding, and tolerance for that which you can't understand.

  • Iowa do you have any idea what your talking about, it's not a dog it's a fucking coyote and in many states there a huge problem for framers and ranchers, and are allowd to be hunted. maybe you should just go huge a tree or drive your hybrid off a cliff.

  • The more you say, the less informed and clueless you sound. You have not absolutely no valid insight into my lifestyle. None. Your utter, complete ignorance and total lack of tolerance for anything outside your own belief system reveals far more than you realize.

You have been somewhat amusing, but really, at this point, I'm just starting to feel pity for you.

Keep going if you want, doesn't matter to me. But you ought to try and improve your self esteem in more constructive ways.

  • Even in the string of animal murder videos making it to youtube, this is one of the absolute sickest. This is how you get your jollies? Using an innocent animals instincts to live so you can murder it?

    I'm glad I'm not you, psycho-pervert.

  • Thanks. I'm glad you're not me either.

  • Why don't you spend a lot more of your time and energy trying to devise novel ways to torment and kill 35 pound dogs. Then post a video on the internet that captures the fruits of your pathetic, twisted excuse for manhood.

You are truly the ultimate coward.

  • Are you seriously spending your Saturday night looking for videos on youtube? Even if you were looking for ones you like, I'd make fun of you. But looking for ones you hate?

It must suck more than words can describe to be you...

Calling me a coward, over the internet, doesn't exactly hurt my feelings. Actually, nothing you can post here can hurt my feelings. You just make me laugh.

Come back next weekend and spend your Fri. and Sat. night trying to insult me some more!

    Thanks!

  • nice fucken shot!!!!!

  • That was demented.

  • I love the eThugs on youtube. Good shot man.

    Nukeade-

  • good shot. Wierd decoy but it works.

  • ok... go for it... I dare ya!

  • just... next time you have a thought... let it go ... before you get online next time make sure you have yourself a nice warm cup of some shut the fuck up! they're nowere near extinct, or even scarce... they're fuckin everywere in the area... it's a male btw..

  • Cup of "Shut the fuck up" That's some funny shit!

  • good shot theres way to many coyotes in utah

  • good shot, but i think that might a little too close to the target.

  • nice video.....is that a retarded rabbit?!!

  • hahah that rabbit was hilarious

  • That rabbit decoy cracked me up.

It did the job though as did you, nice shooting

  • Nothing wrong with the rabbit but the coyote is screwed.

  • Senin ananı bacını sikiyim oruspu çocugu şerefsiz seninde kafana bi gün öyle sıkarlar dalyarrak ibnenin oğlu

  • what kind of load do u use?? i use the federal premium v-max polymer tip.

  • It's a custom rifle, with a .17 caliber wildcat chamber, there isn't any factory ammo for it. I use 30 gr. bullets at about 4100 fps.

  • i guess you might as well of used a 17 remington, u know, almost identical performance with factory available ammo... just my 2 cents

  • I did not think anything short of a .223 at 55 grains or heavier would drop a coyote, but you have surely proven different.

  • I think somethings wrong with that rabbit
