You know all auto/motorcycle manufacturers make it so that when it says it's empty, there's at least a gallon (4 liters) left, or 2 gallons (8 liters) for vehicles that use a lot of fuel. that's why there was gas left in the tank. It's just in case you don't notice the fuel gauge.
