To those asking if it's out of tune... it's not... those are the actually chords to the song! These guys have done well to arrange this in the manner they've performed it. The original song is a maze of chord changes, and timing differences!
It sounds a lot faster than it does on CD, but it doesn't seem to stay in tune, like it's been recorded from an old stretched tape or something. Maybe it's just me :S
Aaaah right, that explains it. Thanks for putting this up though. Hadn't heard it for ages and I'd forgotten how good a cover it was. Need to go and dig out Goose Fair now!
Makes me want to make good on my threat to cover Sat In Your Lap and Leave It Open as melodic death metal.
The Dreaming is the best album ever. Better than Yello's Solid Pleasure, better than Gentle Giant's Octopus, better than Imogen Heap's Ellipse, better than Bloodbath's Resurrection Through Carnage, better than Shakespear's Sister's Hormonally Yours, better than Enya's Watermark and even better than Dissection's Storm of the Light's Bane.
I listened to this thinking that it'd be awful, so defensive when someone touches my beloved Kate Bush and esp. my fave song. But I like this version, not like the original which I still think reigns supreme, but it stands on its own as a great rock song.
When they did their last tours as The Drum they didn't play it - remember someone shouting for it 2nd song in & Adam politely saying "No way son, not tonight."
I have to say, not just any punk band could handle the melodic or harmonic complications of this song. I didn't like it at first, but I think it's my favorite cover now. I kind of like how it's true to the melodic and harmonic progression of the original while at the same time proceeding with complete disregard for it....
Best cover version EVER. Apparently, Radio One promised to put this on their A-list if the lads agreed to release it as a single. And Goose Fair is my favourite album ever.
Let's hope that the rumours of a reunion are true. I saw them live about 20 times back in the day.
I saw em 10 times back in the day. Jo Whiley played it on Radio 1 as part of the '40 years of' thing. It's a great ripoff. China Drum were an awesome band and I am literally wearing their T Shirt now, although its full of holes its 13 years old lol.
Cheers for this Su79nioi, quality song! Same as QC, heard this on the John Peel show years ago, took a while to find out who it was by, by the time I did I had to import the album Goosefair from Japan, the thinga you do when you get a song stuck in your head!!! :O)

This was recorded from the original 7" single. It might be different to the CD version (though equally, might be pressed off-centre!).
