The Angel-ization is liek a "default" death for some things. I don't remember what happened to my Crash but I'm pretty sure the monkey in the pot turned mine into an angel too...

There's another one in the temple with the monkey throwing stuff at you. It'll sometimes throw powder and you'll look like a mummified Crash.
