I personally know a few of the Indy guys they used in this movie. One of them...Paul E. Normus was a very dear friend of mine. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of 33. Paulie....I miss you bro. And I'm so proud of you n the other fellas for being a part of this movie.
@Kruezoraxe you´ve never heard about a match with staples? Maybe you should know something about Wrestling before you write this shit. it´s not used in the WWE but in Deathmatches. YOu should search for Deathmatch, Necro Butcher, CZW or ToD than you´ll see there are things that are much more painful
alot of people thought it was rubbish but i think was good film, I enjoyed it. But sort of left me up in the the air whether he lived through it, i hope he did :)
great movie. excellent acting. only part that ticked me off was the ending, cuz i was so into the movie, that i REALLY wanted to know if he died or not.. i didnt want to make up my own conclusion, i wanted a for sure fact..
Many people ask if the wrestler dies at the end. The script leaves that decision to us. Thats a good narrating technique. Only bad commercial movies or stories leave no decisions to the audience because they are escapist films not meant for thinking, only for customer consuming and profit.
This Movie was absolutely brilliant.........Dunt care if oscars didnt want to acknowledge that........For my Money The Dark Knight and The Wrestler were 2 movies not only best in this year but probably the best in quite few years.and Mickey Rourke was awesome....

@Slicric13 so was this movie really realistic? I thought wrestling was all fake but when he cut his forehead and had his chest stapled it looked pretty bad
@FuckWorkdays Well a lot of it is theater, there's a lot of fake blood and fake scars. Even skin grafts that can hold the fake blood until you want it popped. The staples did seem very real, though I've never heard of a wrestling match which involved staples in that method.
@Kruezoraxe Where are you getting this information from? I can tell you dont know the first thing about the business. Fake blood is VERY rarely used. Do some research before you comment and make yourself look like a muppet. It's funny how much of a little understanding some people still have of pro wrestling.
Mickey Rourke's finest work.... the scene with his daughter is priceless. I never thought pro wrestling could get that brutal with the broken glass and barbwire etc....
I know about the steroids and that issue is covered as well..."I am just a broken down piece of meat and I deserve to be all alone" "I just don't want you to hate me" Give him his Gold Statue !!!!
I had tears ...... and emotions like that in film are rare .... Go See it.....

I agree Kurt Cobain was awesome! :P I don't think he killed hair mental, hair mental just got old... people wanted something fresh/new... 20 years was enuff.
Even the trailer for this movie gets my tear-ducts welling up, haven't seen the film yet but based on that alone I know I am in for something special.

Rourke provides a breathtaking performance that provides believability in such a concentration that you lose yourself while watching. Thank you Mickey. It was a beautiful film.
Every time I see a movie about an outcast, I can't help identifying. I feel like I'm inevitably wasting my life, like "the world don't give a shit about me" as he says at the end.
The worst thing is, there is someone giving a shit, but I'm too lost/stupid/scared.
I wish you all to have a better life. Let us not end up like Randy.
you speak the truth brother, I feel the same way.. hopefully we all figure out what we want out of life and that there are things that we can love doing and people that do care.
I'm not being sarcastic here: it sounds like you might need therapy. Could even be something as basic as a chemical imbalance. I've had my struggles too -- still have them. I've used therapy, meditation, yoga and exercise and they've all been of great help. Don't give up on yourself. I don't know you, but you do matter. Everyone does.
I haven't seen it, but I have a gnawing feeling this film will be placed into the annals of cinema as an American Classic.
Rarely do I get giddy to see a picture, but I am. Rarely do I become effusive over a trailer, but I did. This movie will be a rare gem--I can just feel it.
I agree with you 100%! 'The Wrestler' is becoming my all-time favorite movie! Mickey won the Golden Globe tonight! Fuck yeah! Saw it two weeks ago, and I'm going to see it again! Bitchin' film!
I love Mickey. I wish he skipped the appt. with his plastic surgeon. He was one of the most gorgeous men. I am sure he could have done without the surgery.
The movie is great and yes the 90's did suck!! Not because of those bands, they were awesome, I wish they were still around,it sucked for me because I became an adult,,,

No, not at all. After Sean Penn's blatant attack on the Academy Awards during his last acceptance speech, he won't be getting anything from them for a very long time, at least I suspect. If the Academy's don't give the awards out based on politics again, Rourke will win by long shot, but Clint may win best actor considering it's his last on-screen appearance.
I personally know a few of the Indy guys they used in this movie. One of them...Paul E. Normus was a very dear friend of mine. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of 33. Paulie....I miss you bro. And I'm so proud of you n the other fellas for being a part of this movie.
