  • I personally know a few of the Indy guys they used in this movie. One of them...Paul E. Normus was a very dear friend of mine. Unfortunately he passed away at the age of 33. Paulie....I miss you bro. And I'm so proud of you n the other fellas for being a part of this movie.

  • 1:42

    R-Truth

  • Just that one line

"just one drink" summed up his sadness

  • @Kruezoraxe you´ve never heard about a match with staples? Maybe you should know something about Wrestling before you write this shit. it´s not used in the WWE but in Deathmatches. YOu should search for Deathmatch, Necro Butcher, CZW or ToD than you´ll see there are things that are much more painful

  • @aarkay9999 Sean Penn is an amazing actor

  • 'the only place i get hurt is out there'(referring to the real world) now THATS writing and its delivery by mickey rourke makes it iconic

  • SHOULD HAVE WON THE ACADAMY AWARD, THE PART WHERE HE TELLS HIS

DAUGHTER, "I JUST DON'T WANT YOU TO HATE ME"GOT TO ME. HIS REPUTATION BLEW ANY CHANCES; THAT'S WHY THE ACADAMY AWARDS

    SUCKS!!!!!

  • This is a really wonderful song, and a really touching trailer

  • mickeys movie!!!and an amazing song by bruce!!thx for that!

  • @aarkay9999 "Milk" is a true performence, and it's absolutely earned.

  • A truly inspirational song to go with an amazingly beautiful movie.

Rourke and Springsteen need to work together more.

  • @randomrewiew1 yep me i wonder if it really is him

  • just watched it !!! n i loved it alot good movie i think he did a good job acting in this movie 5 stars n two thumbs up for this movie !!!!

  • This is one of Rourke's best movies hands down

  • eighties men best ever...Guns & Roses,...Crew... really ..good movie

  • anyone else notice r-truth at 1:41?

  • This movie made Micky Rouke a movie god to me. Its so close to his own life story.

  • Great Movie....

  • i LOVE this movie.

    and this song

always gets to me, espeacially after

    what happens at the end.

  • best movie and song EVER!

  • I enjoyed this movie and love this SONG!! This song makes me cry, but I LOVE it! <3

  • i hope the big fooker didn't die ;)

  • his daughter could have been a little more forgiving in some respects. But that just the story :)

  • alot of people thought it was rubbish but i think was good film, I enjoyed it. But sort of left me up in the the air whether he lived through it, i hope he did :)

  • what a movie...

  • Props to Springsteen, great song.

  • TellEveThat FUCKING SEAN PENN AND RICKY SKAGS IS YER HERO

  • great movie. excellent acting. only part that ticked me off was the ending, cuz i was so into the movie, that i REALLY wanted to know if he died or not.. i didnt want to make up my own conclusion, i wanted a for sure fact..

  • It's fairly apparent that he died. Why you would need a "sure fact" is beyond me.

  • The Wrestler DVD is out. I saw all the behind the scenes. So entertaining!

  • Many people ask if the wrestler dies at the end. The script leaves that decision to us. Thats a good narrating technique. Only bad commercial movies or stories leave no decisions to the audience because they are escapist films not meant for thinking, only for customer consuming and profit.

  • -.-''

  • The so called Oscar academy was highly unfair to Mickey and this outstanding movie.

  • Great movie. I can't wait for this to come out on video.

  • God, even watching the trailer makes my eyes misty!

  • i love this film its amazing and rouroke acting amazing

  • Penn couldn't carry Rourke's jockstrap, bottom line. He got the "award" but he knows he lost, that's why he gave props to Mickey in his acceptance.

  • Mickey Rourke got robbed of his statue by Hollywood's powerful Gay Mafia who made sure Penn won for playing a communist homo.

  • Springsteen was equally robbed as well.. by not getting a nod.

  • RourKe was better!!! incredible, I have just seen the movie amazing role

  • ...well it was a great movie.sEAN pENN'S PERFORMANCE WAS GREAT THOUGH-HE DESERVED IT....mICKEY WAS FANTASTIC...BUT SEAN WAS BETTER.

  • Sean was not better. U an academy's apologist or something?

  • Oh yes he was betrr there Mick=)

  • Superb film.

  • This is finally a fantastic movie of a part of American which will never be repeated.

As a wrestler of the 70's and 80's myself, I thank Mr. Rourke and the producers of this film for captureing why we did what we did.

  • I agee-a part of America and to think anyone wouldn't acknoledge that pisses me off.Why are Americans allowing their freedoms to be traded 4 globalfreedoms?Takeur govtback America b4 they give it all away!

  • @Slicric13 so was this movie really realistic? I thought wrestling was all fake but when he cut his forehead and had his chest stapled it looked pretty bad

  • @FuckWorkdays Well a lot of it is theater, there's a lot of fake blood and fake scars. Even skin grafts that can hold the fake blood until you want it popped. The staples did seem very real, though I've never heard of a wrestling match which involved staples in that method.

  • @Kruezoraxe Where are you getting this information from? I can tell you dont know the first thing about the business. Fake blood is VERY rarely used. Do some research before you comment and make yourself look like a muppet. It's funny how much of a little understanding some people still have of pro wrestling.

  • Can't watch it one time, got to see this one more time. So emotionally moving, a classic.

  • Mickey Rourke's finest work.... the scene with his daughter is priceless. I never thought pro wrestling could get that brutal with the broken glass and barbwire etc....

I know about the steroids and that issue is covered as well..."I am just a broken down piece of meat and I deserve to be all alone" "I just don't want you to hate me" Give him his Gold Statue !!!!

I had tears ...... and emotions like that in film are rare .... Go See it.....

  • In terms of character, this is probably the most 'Real' film I have ever seen.

  • iv just seen this at the cinema. i hope rourke wins an oscar for this. his performance is heartbreaking and made me reflect on life. i cried at the end! make sure u all go and see this film

  • well now I GOTTA see it! :)

  • awesome

Quiet Riot as his entrance tune

  • how do you know what type of person he is? im just curious

  • Yea, because i bet your life story is awesome...

  • No, its shit mate. Yours? YSF

  • BROOOOOOOCE!

  • its BRUUUUUUUCE.. but nice try:P

  • heartbreaking.

  • AMAZING MOVIE!! One of the best I've seen in years! I hope Rourke gets an Oscar.

  • mickey rourke is an amazing person, much more then a good actor. has character. and that s hard to find nowadays.

  • It's possible though,

Johnny Depp, Harrison Ford, Val Kilmer, Heath Ledger (When he was here), Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis.

    You're right too.

    5 stars, easy. :)

  • dylan should be proud of his progeny

  • Great movie =)

  • he looks like the cowardly lion from the wizard of oz

  • Mickey Rourke if you are vain enough to read this shit come and drink some beers in London town with me, I like your class!

  • ya well no one givs a fuk if u did r not u fuckin crooked vagina

  • Comment removed

  • How does it end?

  • It's a pretty good movie, pretty good script, VERY good acting, but the way it's directed and the constant shaky cam is crap.

  • YOU ARE A FUCKING MORON! Darren Arnofsky is an amazing director. You have no idea, watch Requiem for a Dream and Pi now!!!!!

  • Arnofsky to directing is what Slipknot is to metal

  • Nothing to do with it?

  • he is not that bad

  • This could be also be a movie about the human spirit and heart.

  • Very Insightful. Really!

  • you gotta love when the right song is placed in the right parts of a movie trailer...the song helps make it.

put a metallica track behind the trailer, completely different story.

  • 90's sucked

  • 90;s fuckin' sucked!

  • i'm a broken down piece of meat and I deserve to be all alone i just don't want you to hate me

    ---classic line

    The Wrestler

    Faking Awesome MOvie!!

  • can see where ur coming from, its more like terry funk the movie

  • mickey was aweesome in this..so was marissa..and the boss does it again..ps.70s ruled..hair metal was poser music

  • Mickey it's a very complex person, he's got some things to learn from, and he's got some things to try to avoid .. but still, he is very talented ... GO MICKEY !

  • God, just the trailer and the pain in Mick's eyes when he says, "I just don't want you to hate me"...wow, I get all watery-eyed.

  • one of the best movies i've seen, maybe ever. i have never seen a more real movie.

  • this movie should have been nominated for best picture. at least mickey rouke wasn't robbed. he was perfect for the role.

  • everytime i watch the trailer i just want to see this movie more and more!

  • me 2!

  • Just awesome, viva le Rourke. Marissa is hot as well and its the boss's best song in years..

  • Hahaa Cobain.. naah 90's ruled

  • I agree Kurt Cobain was awesome! :P I don't think he killed hair mental, hair mental just got old... people wanted something fresh/new... 20 years was enuff.

  • This chokes me up EVERY. TIME.

  • Really touching movie. Great story. Mickey is still Mikey.

  • looks like a great movie!

  • Even the trailer for this movie gets my tear-ducts welling up, haven't seen the film yet but based on that alone I know I am in for something special.

  • Just saw it last night mate. Definately take your tissues!! I'd put it in the "Million Dollar Baby" category. So good, Mickey Rourke is UNBELIEVABLE but it is heavy!!

  • Seldom does a movie come along that I feel I must share with anyone who hasn't seen it. This movie is truly amazing and should be witnessed by everyone.

Rourke provides a breathtaking performance that provides believability in such a concentration that you lose yourself while watching. Thank you Mickey. It was a beautiful film.

  • this film was awesome!

  • whats the song that plays throughout the movie, kinda post-rock. its playing as he climbs the rope at the end?

  • the song is : Quiet Riot - Bang Your Head (Metal Health)

  • Every time I see a movie about an outcast, I can't help identifying. I feel like I'm inevitably wasting my life, like "the world don't give a shit about me" as he says at the end.

The worst thing is, there is someone giving a shit, but I'm too lost/stupid/scared.

I wish you all to have a better life. Let us not end up like Randy.

  • you speak the truth brother, I feel the same way.. hopefully we all figure out what we want out of life and that there are things that we can love doing and people that do care.

  • I'm not being sarcastic here: it sounds like you might need therapy. Could even be something as basic as a chemical imbalance. I've had my struggles too -- still have them. I've used therapy, meditation, yoga and exercise and they've all been of great help. Don't give up on yourself. I don't know you, but you do matter. Everyone does.

  • Thanks for kind words. I appreciate it.

"I don't know you, but you do matter. Everyone does."

We sure do. Take care and good luck.

  • i LOVE this movie!!!!!!!

    (= GREAT GREAT GREAT movie!

    i loved it a lot!

  • Mickey if you read this, don't stop - we miss you and you are awesome, thank you!

  • Great F'ing movie!

  • great film. also, if you liked this movie, i recommend you check out the doc 'beyond the mat' as well.

  • I haven't seen it, but I have a gnawing feeling this film will be placed into the annals of cinema as an American Classic.

Rarely do I get giddy to see a picture, but I am. Rarely do I become effusive over a trailer, but I did. This movie will be a rare gem--I can just feel it.

  • Didnt this song win a golden globe or something? Over Miley Cyrus?

  • if it didnt i would puke. this song Pwns any miley song

  • awesome movie

  • Soberbio lo de Marielito.

(Que Osvaldo Laport ni que ocho cuarto)

  • 90's did not suck. but this movie rules!!!!!

  • yeah but its a great line,,hes trapped in the 80's

  • congrats Mickey and Bruce on your Golden Globes !!!! see you guys at the Oscars!!!

  • This movie was so fucking good I just saw it today I was blown out of the water!

  • Mickey wins golden globe, as well as bruce sprinsteen for making such an epic song

  • anyone know when its gonna be out on dvd?

  • its not even out in all cities yet

  • Probably sometime in April. It hasn't even made it to major theaters, but it will around Oscar time.

  • i see a bit of jake roberts in this movie. you would have to watch the documentary in order to notice the comparison.

  • Mickey won the Golden Globe tonight! Fuck yeah! The Oscar is next!

  • Such a great friggin movie, just saw it tonight and i wanna see it again i cant wait till it comes out on dvd, im buying it first, its truly AMAZING!

  • I agree with you 100%! 'The Wrestler' is becoming my all-time favorite movie! Mickey won the Golden Globe tonight! Fuck yeah! Saw it two weeks ago, and I'm going to see it again! Bitchin' film!

  • Looks like a good movie, I want to see it. Looks like a nice change from the other crap that's been released this year (Quantum of Solace)

  • I love Mickey. I wish he skipped the appt. with his plastic surgeon. He was one of the most gorgeous men. I am sure he could have done without the surgery.

  • I have been wanting to see this movie, but the bastard didn't release it here in Lexington Ky.

  • anyone know when its out in ireland?

  • Maybe because your in Lexington Ky.

  • Maybe because your in Lexington Ky.

  • Randy The Ram Robinson = Jake The Snake Roberts

  • i just saw this movie. it was so fucking good

if your not a wrestling fan check it out

    its good

  • The movie is great and yes the 90's did suck!! Not because of those bands, they were awesome, I wish they were still around,it sucked for me because I became an adult,,,

  • Mickey should be considered for the Best Actor nominee - Brilliant movie

  • Rourke should simply win. And I'm not even a fan. An awesome performance.

  • Best Picture of the decade!

  • 1:42 is that R-Truth from WWE, it woulndt surprise me but still, just wondering

  • It is. Wrestlers such as Nate Hatred, Necro Butcher, etc appeared in the movie.

  • This was the best movie of '08 in my opinion. I though it was better than Milk and Slumdog Millionare.

  • this is what a movie is supposed to be like. its got heart and a slap of reality. well made. great movie

  • Saw it. movie of the year. Mickey just throws himself into this role

  • Good movie, definetely worth going to see. :)

  • Mickey kicks Ass!

  • 90s sucked ?!? Get the fuck outta here !!!!!

  • How about 13 ? Early 90s ruled. Fuck em'

  • The 90's sucked to heavy metal lovin mullets.

  • Dude, the 90's sucked badly for anyone who wasn't into grunge. Thankfully, I couldn't get enough of Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and Stone Temple Pilots, so the 90's were good to people like us. But to anyone who actually like Crue or Poison (idk why they would) it was awful.

  • Motley crue and Poison was awful !

  • Grunge is one of the worst subgenres of rock music, second only to punk, for it's lack of variety and creativity. All grunge musicians are expendable, because you don't have to be good to play grunge.

  • Really straightforward movie, a bit cliched, but pretty effective overall. A wonderful performance by Rourke that everyone agrees on.

Nice touch by the Boss to contribute a lovely song. They've been playing it on E Street Radio

    thankfully.

  • Agreed. The movie itself is good, but not great. Definitely worth seeing, but what sets it apart is Rourkes performance. Without that this is a typical down on his luck movie. I've seen most of the other awards contenders this year, with the exception of Gran Torino, and I have to say that Rourkes performance deserves an academy award. Truly amazing.

  • wanting new friends

    great vid TW

  • This looks really touching, great song too by the boss, I wanna see this movie asap

  • I just caught the film in Manhattan tonight. Great performance. Mickey Rourke was always a favorite. I only hope he gets more roles.

  • That is a MAD soulful song . . AWESOME!!!

  • is that Ring of Honor wrestling?

  • Yes, also CZW. They shot scenes there because they wanted the hottest Indy Audiances for the film.

  • sweet!

  • I saw this film today. Mickey Rourke's career role, he has never been better in any film. The Academy award is a lock for him. Heart, soul, guts, and pure emotion, in one of the finest performances by any actor I have seen this decade.

  • Sean penn is favourite apparently!

  • Fuck him. Mickey is the man !

  • No, not at all. After Sean Penn's blatant attack on the Academy Awards during his last acceptance speech, he won't be getting anything from them for a very long time, at least I suspect. If the Academy's don't give the awards out based on politics again, Rourke will win by long shot, but Clint may win best actor considering it's his last on-screen appearance.

  • Oh snap!

  • where did you see it? The theaters where I live arent showing it due to limited release.

  • It's as good as it gets.

  • anybody know where or when I can get the single thats playing to this trailer?

  • Bruce sprinsteen `The Wrestler`

  • You can already get it on Frostwire, limewire or Kazaa.
